Love it!

I absolutely love this watch. I have had it for weeks now, and I have few complaints. I love the sleep tracking, accurate data, and gps accuracy. However I do think the recovery time for next hard workout can be a little inaccurate for more fit runners. Also I wish there was a way to enter in your own record for your personal records. Overall I love this watch!

I love this watch!

I am a 13 year long Fitbit user and I don’t like what Google has done and they are stopping production. Looking for a new watch I decided to get the Vivoactive 5. I am loving all of the content in the app. I love the GPS on my wrist for walks. It took a second to get used to but I am so glad I chose Gramin over the other options. I am still getting 7 days of battery life (which was very important to me). I have the sleep functions (which I use as a tool since I work nights). If you are looking for a new go to watch after Fitbit flutters into the wind, I highly recommended a Garmin. Plus this watch is also comfortable to wear. Thrilled with my choice.

Disappointing

Well - it does keep time. And step count seems good. HRV is okay I think. It is very poor at detecting heart rate when exercising. I could be 15 minutes into 120BPM (Garmin chest strap) and it still reads 72. The sleep scores often bear little relationship to reality - like says I woke at 4:30 when I slept soundly until 6:30. Battery life, on the other hand, is excellent. My first one would not charge after a 18 months. Replacement is charging fine so far.

I think it's a great watch!

I've owned a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and a Vivoactive 4s. The Vivoactive 5 has great features that the others didn't-- including a lot more activities like open water swimming. I got this watch because the Garmin 4s had a problem that couldn't be addressed. I bought and received a Gamin Vivoactive 5 "recertified" watch. The watch itself is great but it came with nothing. No power cord, no instructions, no booklet. I would have really appreciated getting those things. I will have to do research to find out exactly how to use all the great functions. I'm still a Garmin loyal customer!

Good

I am 75 years old and recently changed from a Fitbit Alta HR which I mostly wore on my ankle. So far the Garmin sleep tracking is way off. Step count is 30% low. Other readings seem to be quite accurate. Connectivity is far superior to the Alta, and app runs smoothly and with no issues. Really like the outdoor walking map with the GPS but I have learned to put it on my ankle when on a treadmill, shopping, or gardening. The screen is fantastic as well as the battery life. I like being able to connect it to my laptop which is much better for me than a small screen. The Garmin is also infinitely more customizable and readable with much better information on the watch itself than I had before. All in all, once I get the sleep tracking and step count accuracy improved , this will be a substantial improvement to what I have had in the past. I would make the switch again!

Hey, there! If you're having trouble getting accurate sleep tracking from your Vivoactive 5, I recommend checking the tips linked below to ensure that you're meeting the requirements to get advanced sleep monitoring: http://ms.spr.ly/6425sK32D As for the step count, it sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of how to record steps while doing activities that prevent arm movement, but I'd like to ensure that you've reviewed the information in this FAQ just to be thorough: http://ms.spr.ly/6427sK321 If you still need assistance after reading through those tips, please call Garmin Support at 800-800-1020 to speak with an associate about these concerns. *KC

Used throughout the Day

My third Vivoactive watch. I depend on it to track my sleep quality and activity as well as alerting me to text messages and calls on my iphone. I would have rated it excellent, but I am a bit disappointed in the support for the watch. I can't seem to find out how to change the weather reading from Celsius to Farenheit.

Thanks for your review! You can change the unit of measure for temperature on your vivoactive 5 by following these steps: 1. Swipe up or down to view the weather glance. 2. Select the glance to view the current weather for your location. 3. Hold the bottom-right button. 4. Select Weather Options. 5. To change the unit of measure for temperature, select Temperature. You can't beat Garmin!

Fantastic watch with all the features just perfect for my needs. It interfaces smoothly with my Google Pixel phone, has an awesome battery life, keeps me motivated to reach my daily health goals, it's comfortable to wear, and I feel safer with it on. Zero regrets!

not as user friendly as I expected

I expect the watch face to appear every time I raise my arm to look at it. i have to make a very exaggerated motion to see the time which makes me feel ridiculous when doing something at work that requires me to do something for one minute or 30 seconds. I think I chose the wrong model. my son has a different model with always on screen that would have been better.

Nice features

I have had mine about a month and I like it very much I like that it shows my phone calls and counts my steps just wish didn’t have to use your arm all the time when carrying something it holding on the treadmill handles not sure it counts my steps? And I like the sleep feature tell what kind of sleep I have and glad it’s waterproof also hold charge a long time I would recommend this absolutely

Ehhh...jury is still out

Bought it a month ago. Was a FitBit user. The changes and differences are enough to generate the overall meh rating. Sure it does most things I was looking for adequately and can do a lot more that I do not care about. Plus there is so much to learn and I have not been willing/interested in putting in the time. So...meh so far.
