Mixed Reviews

My Vivoactive 5 is a recertified product due to previous Vivoactive 4 malfunctions. I did receive a recertified, not new item. Smaller than the Vivo 4, the Vivo 5 has a low budget look and feel to it. My main concern is for how long will this watch last until it shuts off. All the bells and whistles for an active person but a few glitches during the day. Battery is something you have to be aware of as well, I'm always checking to see when charge needed. Not too confident in this device.

A lot of great features!

Just bought my Vivoactive 5 a few weeks ago and getting used to it. I had Fitbits for over 8 years. This watch is better in many ways. The big drawback is that it doesn’t record steps unless I swing my arms. So while pushing a lawn mower or a wheelbarrow it doesn’t give me credit for the steps.

Upgraded features from vivoactive 3

I had a vivoactive 3 and it was not holding much of a charge and I was having an issue with the button on the side. I like the buttons better on the 5. I also really like the lightness of the watch compared to the 3. The sleep functions are way different and I love it. Also, I like the fitness options. I'm very satisfied with the 5.

Greet active and and modern looking watch

I’ve had my Garmin for around a month. I can say that I like a lot of the features they include like the hydration tracking the sleeping tracking. The sleeping coach is also very, very useful. The strength training I love being able to track my sets how much time I take resting how much time take working now it gives me rest time that I should take and when my bmp stabilizes. Overall very good watch, sleek look and super lightweight.

Weird....

I've had my Vivoactive 5 for a couple of years now and it works well except for the incident alert feature wihch is really clumsy and awkward. If I am out snowshoeing and stop to talk with someone, it sends an alert like I have fallen and can't get up. Also, today after a bike ride, the watch was no longer connected to my phone. None of my previously saved data was available on the watch or the phone. After re-pairing the phone to the "new" watch, all was good again. Then I got this request to review my new watch. Very weird.

Liked my Vivoactive 3, Love my Vivoactive 5!

I had literally worn my Vivoactive 3 every day since September 2017 and I very much enjoyed it. The battery life was never fantastic but toward the end it was getting worse. I decided to invest in a Vivoactive 5 last month and enjoy the slimmer profile, the awesome battery life, the accuracy of the elevation sensor for my bike rides and the super bright screen. My Vivoactive 5 is my new health coach and so far we are getting along great!

Great for runs

Honestly has been great for runs in ways I didn’t think about. Until I started running with the watch, I didn’t realize I was pushing myself to hard and the heart rate alone is a seller for me. Taught me that I was running with my heart rate in zone 5 for way too long . The score echos how I feel about that. The body battery is a huge plus also and I don’t have to gas light myself from thinking about feeling bad.

All around great watch!

I have really enjoyed this watch. I have all my data at my fingertips. Vivo 5 is very lightweight, I forget it’s in my wrist. The bands make it stay on my wrist better without shifting. The amount of features it has is incredible. I enjoy running and all the data it provides me during and after make it easier to train.

Good but not perfect

I wore a Fitbit for many years and when the last one died, I replaced it with what I had hoped would be a longer lasting watch. The first Vivo5 had to be replaced because it died within the first 3 months. The second one is still around although it, too, has died on a couple of occasions, but I have been able to bring it back to life after a few, furious pushing of buttons. (Actually, the last time it died I had to do a factory reset.) That's the bad new. The good news is that the watch pairs seamlessly with my Garmin Edge 530, which is another reason I switched to Vivo5. It is rich in features, and the battery life is much better than the Fitbit. I'm not a huge fan of how a new band attaches to the face--it's kinda finicky and requires small hands--but not enough of a downer for me to consider replacing it. Overall, I am happy I switched from Fitbit to Garmin, but would really like it to be more reliable.

Outstanding Fitness Smartwatch

The Garmin Vivoactive 5 has completely exceeded my expectations. It’s the perfect balance between a fitness tracker and a smartwatch, with a sleek, lightweight design that feels comfortable for all-day wear—even while sleeping. The AMOLED display is stunningly vibrant and easy to read in all lighting conditions, making it feel more premium than other fitness watches I’ve owned. What I love most is how fitness-focused it is. The built-in GPS locks on quickly and is very accurate, making my runs and walks easy to track without carrying my phone. The wide variety of workouts, including yoga, strength, HIIT, and even meditation/breathing sessions, keeps my training fresh and versatile. The Body Battery and sleep tracking features are game-changers—they give me real insight into recovery, energy levels, and overall wellness, so I can train smarter. Battery life is phenomenal. Even with GPS and notifications, I get nearly a week on one charge, which blows away most smartwatches in this category. I also appreciate the music storage and ability to download playlists, so I can leave my phone behind during workouts. As for smartwatch functions, notifications sync seamlessly, and I love being able to respond quickly without having to pull out my phone. The watch feels intuitive, smooth, and never overwhelming, even though it’s packed with features. Overall, the Garmin Vivoactive 5 is the best fitness companion I’ve owned—accurate, stylish, durable, and incredibly useful for anyone serious about health and wellness but who also wants the conveniences of a modern smartwatch.
