Buyer Beware
This is my first and likely last electronics purchase from Sam's.The Product Description and Specifications indicate "2-Yr Warranty + 1-Yr Accidental Damage Protection". Upon inspecting the product, the warranty label indicates only 12M. It should be 24M. I reported this incorrect product info on the website and asked how to obtain the advertised 2 year Warranty. The response from ASUS Answers was of no help. They claim this product only has a 1 year warranty with ADP. I do not know if the fault lies with Sam's or ASUS, but someone should take responsibility and rectify this situation. This is false and misleading advertising. I have not decided whether to keep the laptop or return it. If I decide to keep it I will provide a separate product review.

Excellent Laptop for the Price
I just purchased the ASUS Vivobook 15.6" FHD Windows Laptop | Intel Core i5 | 12GB RAM | 512GB SSD and I really like it. When I received the laptop, the first thing I did was upgrade the RAM to 24GB. This Laptop comes with 8GB RAM on the main board and 4GB in the SODIMM slot. I upgraded the 4GB chip to a 16GB chip and now I have a total of 24GB. If your interested in upgrading the RAM on this Laptop, I recommend creating an account on the ASUS website and registering your new Laptop. Once your on the ASUS site, you will see your specific model Laptop and all of the online documentation (User Manual, Repair Manual, Upgrade Documentation, etc.) There is documentation with a step by step guide to upgrading the RAM on this Laptop and it's super easy. If you do decide to upgrade the RAM, this Laptop uses: DDR4 SO-DIMM ( 260-Pin ) | Non-ECC Unbuffered | 2Rx8 - Dual Rank x8 | 1.2V - DDR4 Standard Voltage Ram. The max Ram this PC can support, per ASUS is 24GB. I ordered a 16GB Module ( 1x 16GB ) | DDR4 3200 MHz ( PC4-25600 / PC4-3200AA ) Samsung chip and it worked like a charm. My Laptop is really speedy now. This Laptop is great for average home use, school, travel, etc. At this price point, you really can't go wrong with this setup. I use this Laptop to run MS Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams) and it handles it with ease. I also use Adobe Acrobat and a few other office apps. This Laptop is also great for surfing the web (Facebook, YouTube, Gmail, streaming music, shopping Sam's Club, etc.) Again, it handles all of these tasks with ease. What I wouldn't recommend this laptop for would be Hardcore Gaming, intensive video editing, Bitcoin Blockchain Mining, etc. I always see people leave bad reviews for laptops in this category, complaining that they are not fast enough for gaming, etc. I say, look at the price point and the specs before you buy. This machine is not meant for extreme processor taxing activities like I just mentioned above. But, for average home or school use, this Laptop is great. No, let me change that. For $399.00 this Laptop is incredible. Some points to consider when setting up your new Laptop. This Laptop does not come with Windows S-Mode installed so you won't have to worry about removing it. Also, I highly recommend that after you go through the guided setup, that you then reboot and sign in again. Then, go to settings and Windows Update. There will be at least 10 to 15 Windows updates that you will need to install, including Driver Updates, Quality Updates, Cumulative Updates, etc. After all of these updates are installed, I recommend rebooting again. Then, after you have set up an account and registered your new Laptop on the Asus website, you will find a BIOS (Firmware) update that will need to be installed. Finally, if you want to free up some extra space, you can uninstall the "bloatware" that comes installed on all new PC's. I also like the fact that this laptop has all of the legacy ports that you may need. A lot of new Laptops are being made with only USB-C ports. This Laptop has USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack for microphone/headphones. So, you won't need a handful of adaptors for your external CD/ROM drive, portable hard drive, etc. I also like the adjustable backlit keyboard. This is a nice feature when typing in low light situations. One thing this Laptop doesn't have is Facial Recognition and Fingerprint ID if that is important to you. Other than those specific features, this Laptop is punching way out of it's weight class, especially for $399.00. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. MikeD

Turn off Keyboard Lights with F7!!!
This is an excellent Laptop for the price. I have seen several reviews complain how it's hard to read the letters on the keyboard due to the back lighting. I also found it problematic when I first got my laptop, but I realized by hitting F7 a few times, I can turn off the backlight to make my keyboard letters dark and legible during the daytime so that it's not thin white lettering. In the dark, turning on the backlight is extremely helpful. I almost returned this laptop too when I found the keyboard hard to see, but I'm glad I realized how to fix the issue. The only thing I wish this laptop had was a touchscreen, but for my purposes as travel laptop used a few times a week, I'll leave. The only other thing to pay attention to is programs running in the background that might drain my battery life. This laptop has lasted well over 6 hours for me, but it also died after just under 2 hours after I put Dropbox onto this laptop and syncing caused this laptop to suck up battery life. I've learned to pause DropBox from syncing when I'm not plugged in to preserve my battery life.
Very weak sound
This laptop has a sound volume problem. At full volume it can barely be heard. Somehow the problem even migrated to the bluetooth connected devices as well. Another problem, the bluetooth connections have to be deleted and readded each time they are used. The backlit keyboard is no help in daylight and keyboard lettering is thin and faint to see.
