Great TV, terrible remote!

this is a great tv! it is our first smart tv and we're pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up and use. even our children are able to use it with ease. especially simple when switching back and forth between cable and streaming apps. we are very happy with the tv but i have to say that we strongly dislike the remote. buttons need to be different sizes/ shapes or even different a orientation. we're constantly hitting the wrong buttons even after having for a few weeks. this is the only downside to this tv.

OK

samsung's app access is not user-friendly. not intuitive and not easy to access when you have numerous regularly used apps. sound is terrible (not a big deal for most like me with a home theater system anyway). brightness and especially light/dark contrast is poor. still playing with color settings, but the presets are not helpful.

KP021: I’m sorry to hear that you’re not fully satisfied with the app access and brightness of your TU7000 TV. I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the brightness levels of your picture. If the colors on your TV are correct but just a little too dark or bright you can try the different Picture Modes or manually adjust the Brightness settings to your liking. Dynamic Picture Mode will make pictures brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. Go to: Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Dynamic Or manually adjust the Brightness and other settings to your liking. Press the HOME button on your remote, then navigate to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings You may also want to disable Power Saving Mode which automatically adjusts the brightness to reduce the TV’s power consumption. Go to Settings> General> Eco Solution> Power Saving Mode. Ambient Light Detection will also automatically adjust the brightness level of the TV, according to the ambient light level, to reduce power consumption. If Ambient Light Detection has adjusted the screen brightness to a too bright or dark level, you can select Minimum Brightness to manually adjust the minimum screen brightness. Go to Settings> General> Eco Solution> Ambient Light Detection Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Settings>Support>Software Update. You may want to enable automatic updates for convenience. Select Settings > Support > Software Update, then select Auto Update. I hope this helps to improve your picture. Should you need further assistance with app access or with image troubleshooting, please contact Samsung Customer Support. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Pretty much the worst tv experience

the good- the bad- darkest picture ever. cant adjust it enough to see people when its a low light setting audio- doesnt stay connected to bluetooth soundbar from same brand picture- randomly has blue light/tint that covers the whole tv. cant read or see anything until it randomly goes away lag- lags like an early 2000's computer with viruses. click any button on the remote and wait 5 seconds or until it spazzes out and goes into a random app or some animal documentary

Bloop: I am very sorry you have experienced multiple issues with your TU7000 TV. I understand your frustration and disappointment. There are several troubleshooting steps you can take to improve your experience. 1) Please be sure to download and install the latest firmware which improves Bluetooth connection and addresses the color glitch issue. Using your TV's remote, navigate to Settings, and select Support. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now. New updates will be downloaded and installed on your TV. Updates usually take a few minutes; please do not turn off the TV until the update is complete. When the update is finished, the TV will restart automatically. If there aren't any new updates, select OK to exit. You may want to enable automatic updates for conveniences. Select Settings > Support > Software Update, then select Auto Update. If you would like to update your software using USB, please check for the latest version on the Samsung website Please be sure to reset the TV after it has been updated by either unplugging the AC for 20 seconds (or) pressing and holding the power butting until the TV turns off then back on. 2) To address your lag issue, you may want to run the self-diagnosis tool. This service checks memory and frees up unused cached memory and closes background apps. Go to Settings > Support> Device Care > Start Device Care 3) Samsung is aware of the issue of scenes appearing too dark, and a new firmware update will be released soon to address this issue. Please follow the steps in (1) to keep your firmware current. I hope these tips help. For further assistance, please contact Samsung TV Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (available 8AM -12AM EST, 7 days a week) Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the SUPPORT link in the upper right corner for: 1) Contact Us Options (LiveChat, Remote Support, Facebook, Twitter) 2) Product Support 3) Manuals and Downloads 4) Warranty Info 5) Product Registration: Registering your product gives you access to easy warranty support, convenient opt-in to special promos and offers, faster troubleshooting and service, and quick notification of system updates 6) Samsung Community: A great resource for getting help from Samsung moderators and customers and more 7) …and more product, repair, order, and care options Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this product. 4 stars all day

it is extremly hard for me to give 5 stars for anything because everything can be improved on and this 7 series samsung is no different. it is a great tv and setup is fairly easy but i have to agrree with others that the remote needs some improvement. first the instuctions constantly refer to the ok button and there is not an ok button so trial and error places it between the 4 directional arrows. the apps don't function as they should upon the inital setup. there are many features that samsung needs to examin in that area. the set is a great set and the 65” that i got has a really good, not great picture. i do not regret my purchase and other than the remote i'm happy with my purchase.

Great value for a TV of this size. Bad software...

I bought this TV about a couple of weeks ago. I was replacing a very old 46 in. Sony HD tv. I have to say that for the price, this tv offers a very high quality picture. The color accuracy is very good. It is a very good TV overall. The good: - Great picture quality - Excellent connectivity features (Airplay2, use my pc wirelessly with the tv,) - The speakers wont blow you away but they sound very clear. - When I got it to work, the Smart things app is nice since you are able to control the TV with your phone or with Alexa. The bad: - The software of the TV has issues, Issue 1: the time is set to auto but for some reason it changes (weird) by itself to another time which is incorrect, you can easily fix this by setting the time manually, Issue 2: Once you log in to your samsung account and are able to download apps, once you turn off the tv for the day and turn on the tv the next day I was not able to download any new apps. There are a couple of ways to fix this temporarily: 1) Do a soft reset (with your remote (press and hold the power button on the remote until Samsung Tizen is displayed on the tv)) or 2) Unlplug and plug in the tv from the power outlet. (I have the latest software for the tv ver. 1114) all work but I just highly recommend the first option (it is the easiest). I dont mind these issues since they can hopefully be fixed by a sofware update by samsung, plus it is very cumbersome to move a 70 in tv from a second floor apartment. Also the apps once downloaded work great everytime and provide high quality streaming. Smartthings is weird since in the begining I tried to setup the tv via smartthings but was not able. I setup the tv via the remote control updated the tv to the latest firmware and then tried again, I failed. The only way I got it to work is to start the setup from the phone then wait, then start the setup again on my ipad and then wait again ( it asks you for the pin and then you enter it) It is at this point that it also leaves you waiting on the smartthings app on the ipad. Quit the app on the iphone and start the setup again, leave it alone once you enter the pin and hopefully will work. ( i simply noticed that it started working while I was watching a movie and tried the setup again) It could have been a server side issue but now everything is working ( amazon Alexa, remote control on the ipad and on the iphone, etc...) The TV is great, the software just needs better quality testing. Oh and if you are like me and live in an US territory, you will notice that you don't have all the apps that the TV should have on the app store. This can be fixed by resetting the tv, once you are taken to the page to accept the terms and conditions just press (fast forward 2 8 9 rewind) and you can select United States. This will open up the app store for the applications that are missing.

Never again - Korean junk made in Mexico

Lasted 18 months of very limited use in guest room. Then the "two fast red blinks, pause, two fast red blinks, pause, one long red blink and and one short red blink" started and was told that it was out of warranty (which I knew, but this seems like manufacturer defect) and then tried sell me new Samsung TV as the repair costs will likely be more than a new one.

Wireless Connection Problems

had the tv for a week without issue and was relatively happy until i started experiencing a wireless connection issue ("mac address is invalid."). my wifi connection was fine (strong on all other devices), but the tv was completely unable to detect my (or any other) wireless router as it had during setup. i tried all the troubleshooting i could find online, but it seems to be a known defect with certain units that may or may not ever go away for the life of the tv. after trying to connect again for another hour it eventually detected my router again for about two minutes before the error quickly returned, at which point i made the easy call to return it for a different brand that won't require a lucky dice roll any time i want to watch tv. obviously a very frustrating outcome.

Good screen, really bad interface

Just bought this TV yesterday and while the screen is fine, the smart TV UI is terrible. No way to remove apps that I don't use and it won't even let me remove them from the home screen. I don't like the Samsung TV plus, but there's no way to avoid it. Also, WAY too many ads. Additionally, the remote lags really bad, then jumps around as if I held down the button. Overall, not a good experience with the UI.

Decent Screen, TERRIBLE PROCESSOR!!!

I have a larger Samsung TV and was very impressed by the robust performance of the native apps and apps that you can get from the App Store (although I'll caveat that by mentioning that I did have to return that TV to the store three times because of how slow the processes worked (laggy, would take a whole minute for any remote control command to work. This TV has a similar issue running applications such as Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, and others. I bought this TV to serve primarily as my new home-office display ( and to watch TV from to kill the time in between tasks, if I'm being honest). The TV will work fine if you're hooking it to a laptop or desktop. If you're buying this TV to...well...watch TV and so you don't have to use an off the shelf box (like Roku, Apple TV set top, Chromecast, etc), then you'll be TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED. You would think that if Samsung wants to market a TV as Smart, they would pay more attention to quality control and performance of their Smart Features. Everything running directly from the TV just disappoints. The user interface for every app is rendered in low resolution (yes, I checked my settings. I also compared the same apps on the same TV with third party app services). I can overlook that the app interfaces all run in low resolution, as long as the actual video is rendered in HD. What I can't overlook, is how laggy the TV gets when you run any app. This TV struggles to play video while handling simple functions such as..say.. changing the volume or a channel. So...here I am...using a “Smart TV” as simply a monitor.

The_One_True_Bob, Thank you for your purchase and review. The interface issue you are describing may be related to your network connection and quality. We suggest you try the following: 1. Use 5G WiFi if possible 2. Try wired LAN if available 3. Try repositioning the router so there are no obstacles between your TV and the router I hope this helps to solve your concerns.
