amazing it didn't sink

Just got my tamarack kayak last week and used it for the first time today, after about 2 hrs on the water the kayak had taken in a lot of water into the rear storage hatch. The hatch is behind the operator so of course I didn't realize there was so much water inside until i got back to shore and attempted to lift the rear end of the kayak out of the water. there is a drain hole on the nose of the kayak and it took several minutes to drain. also there is a manufacturing flaw on the bottom of the keel where there is a thin spot in the plastic, you can see light through it from the inside, not good

Great kayak

This kayak is great, I got one last Christmas as a gift and have taken it out to fish plenty of times. Unfortunately came with a huge indention on the right side but it might have been from the packaging, it doesn’t take away from its performance except it makes it a little noisy when against the current. I received the older version which is great and has thick plastic material; however, I bought the newer version for my dad recently and realized just how weak the materia is. The plastic is way thinner and it is not as reliable. Lifetime should use the same plastic as they did with their older versions for the best/tip performance!

Great Kayak

I picked up this Kayak to try out Kayaking - I love it! I have used it down rivers and in lakes - it is light weight and easy to navigate - comfortable, durable and fun to use! This was my first Kayak. One of the hatches fell off before my first trip - and customer service was quick to respond and send a replacement part. Thanks you!

Good for big guys

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am actually 6'1" and 250 lbs. I was assured by many that it would not be a problem with the kayak and I can say the Kayak supports me. I was never interested about standing up in a kayak so for me it was about sit down stability. When I used the standard seat I was comfortable and stable and now that I have built an add on seat from a handicap shower chair with a back I never bet my butt wet.

Excellent Value Kayak

I bought my kayak over a 2 months ago. Got it a month ago and just got it out. I Love it, It tracked well and was easy to get in and out of. I am a big guy 6ft 250 and with my gear I am at the max. It handled me just fine no issue. I did upgrade to the lifetime angler Kayak paddle. I also upgrade to the Cascade Mountaintech stadium seat and then added a pad. My seat is very comfortable. I made a mod to make the hatches more usable and had not seen it done before. I put Pad Eyes under the hatch and riveted it from the top. I added a bungee. see included pictures. Also, Just saw the Lifetime 11' 6" Yukon Kayak. Now I have kayak envy. Maybe next year.

Inshore great fishing kayak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have bought two of these kayak in the last 3 years. I like the stability even if it gets a little rough. I've used it for several different things. I paddle it out with my crab pots to catch dungeonous crab with great success. Also I have used it as a dive platform for hauling my speargun and floats out to hunt for large cabrilla and snapper in Baja. I enjoy the rod holders and the bungee system that keeps my gear secure. I highly recommend this kayak.

Great kayak

Being new to kayak fishing I wanted to get an affordable kayak with at least a few amenities already on board and the Tamarack Angler fits the bill for me. I fish the flats of the Gulf of Mexico mostly with the seas at 1 to 3 feet. It is very easy to paddle even loaded with gear and I've had it in some really low water conditions without getting stuck. It is a fairly stable platform to fish from but I wouldn't recommend standing. I did add a custom seat cushion to it as the pad is not comfortable after long days of fishing. There is alot of storage also and you can do alot of modifications to it without cutting or screwing holes in the hull. I was able to install a stake out pole mount and an anchor trolley system (on both sides)on this without compromising the integrity of the hull and it all funtions well. Overall a great buy for the money and great way to get into kayak fishing

Takes on water every trip

I got this kayak for Christmas and was very excited to try it out. I had to wait for it to warm up so it took a while to go. Have taken 4 trips and kayak takes on water every time, so much that after less than an hour I have to be back on shore. At first I thought it was me doing something wrong, but found a crack in the seam underneath the kayak. Kayak is so full of water 2 grown men cannot pick it up but have to turn it over to drain before putting it back on the truck. Submitted a warranty claim and still have not had a response. I have called multiple times and the office is closed or too many calls in front of me.

Great product and service!

Only two issues with this product, both were expected from reading previous reviews. Scupper holes near the seat and a weak paddle. Bought the paddle first, and tried looking for scupper plugs online. After contacting Lifetime, I bought the plugs from them and saved half the price of buying them online. Very satisfied!
