Great Battery at a good price

This is a great Group 78 battery at a decent price. With Scan & Go you can be in and out of the store in less time than it takes to walk to the battery racks in most stores.

Horrible battery

6 months after purchase, this battery was completely bad and unable to hold a charge. You be better off purchasing AutoZone or Walmart batteries. Will never purchase again.

It works

I have 4 vehicles, 3 of which over time needed batteries. I bought all 3 from Sams and no complaints. I am a GM master tech and have seen factory batteries fail within 2 years for no reason. Automotive batteries (whatever label is on it) are made by only a handful of USA manufactures and any lead acid battery lasting past 4 years (unless AGM) you hit pay dirt. Buy this battery at a good price or by the same battery by another company label with an inflated price to impress your friends. Whatever works for you.

Not That Good of an Experience

I purchased a Duracell Group 78 for my 2003 Monte Carlo SS, 3.8L engine, 27 Jan 2015. The battery performed well until yesterday (6 Sep 2016) afternoon. It had enough power to open the door locks but after that would not open the trunk or even illuminate the LED dome light. Tried to jump start it but with no luck. Left it connected to the other vehicle with their engine running for 10 minutes. Would only give a clicking sound. Finally got the car started using a portable battery pack, drove home, put battery on charger, and charged to a full charge indication. Would still only make the clicking sound. Put it back on the charger for 5 hours... indicated full charge, still only the clicking sound. Removed the battery from the car and charged overnight. Had an even better charge reading the next morning but did not try to start the car. I wanted to take it in for testing with a full charge indicated. Technician said it tested bad. The battery was only 19 months 10 days old. They gave me a replacement battery (no finance charge); however, my warranty has 16 months and 20 days remaining. The warranty continued from the original purchase date.

A Good Alternative to the Group Size 101 Battery

Needed a car battery for my Cadillac SRX in a rush. Could not find. The GM recommended battery was not available and at least $100 more. The cold cranking amps are the same as the recommended battery. The only difference is that this battery is approximately 1/2" shorter, (it still fits in the battery tray).

BAD BATTERY

PURCHASED BATTERY AN INSTALLED AT HOME. WAS DEAD. COULD NOT EVEN JUMP START WITH OTHER VEHICLE AT FIRST. FINALLY SECOND DAY JUMPED WITH HEAVY DUTY CABLES. LET TRUCK RUN FOR 1 HOUR AN SHUT OFF TO CHECK RESTART. NOTHING. I RETURNED BATTERY FOR OPTIMA BATTERY. STARTED RIGHT UP. I WOULD ADVISE LETTING SAMSCLUB AUTO TECH TEST BATTERY BEFORE PURCHASE TO MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS CHARGED BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE IF INSTALLING YOURSELF. AN ALSO CHECK IT BEFORE, IF THEY ARE INSTALLING FOR YOU.

Picture shows 3 year replacement, 8 year prorated

After shopping online for batterys I went to the store and purchased the Duracell 78 because of the pictured warranty on the top of the Battery. I found no marking of the 8 year proration on the battery after it was installed , looks like 3 year replacement only ! They need to update their website picture or supply the battery warranty pictured with the 8 year prorated warranty

Not a cold weather battery!

This is my 3rd one of these batteries in a little over 4 years. The 1st one died a little short of 2 years. Sam's Club tested it and replaced it under warranty. The replacement lasted 15 months which got it just past the 3-year warranty of the original battery. I just bought a 3rd one with another 3-year warranty. These batteries can't hold a charge when it gets below freezing for more than a couple days.
