Dirty salt

I purchased 4 bags of this salt since it was a good price for name brand. I usually buy off brand because it's cheaper. But I noticed after I used the first 2 bags my salt tank was filthy the water looked muddy and the inside of the tank had a gooey black film. At first I thought something was wrong with my water but after cleaning the tank and disposal of dirty salt in tank, I ran a regen with no salt and salt tank was refilled automactically with clean water. Then I added one of the last 2 bags I had purchased and ran a regen again and ended up with mucky dirty water again. I even noticed when I opened the salt bag the salt looked dirty. Ewwww is all I have to says as I had been drinking and bathing in that nasty water for a month. Will never use Morton softener salt again!

Good Price-Not clean salt!

Purchase 3 bags. As we were putting one bag in the softener. It was very dirty, brown and dusty. It's always bright white. We've never had any problems with Morton salt. Hoping it doesn't hurt the softener. I have not opened the other two bags. Will return. I'll be calling the Morton salt company. I usually buy Morton salt at Menards....but they were out. Then happened to be at Sam's club. Maybe since larger bag and cheaper price...they used poor quality?

Softener Pellet Grashish Color Experience

I've been buying these Morton Softener Pellets from Sam's Club for years and the pellets have always been white. I purchased 5 bags late last year and all 5 bags had grayish color pellets as others have described. Since Morton's customer service claim this is not an issue, I filled up the brine tank and allowed it to empty out. It left a blackish color film on the inside of the tank, but it wiped off easily with a rag. I scooped out the remaining pellets in a bucket and washed them out in the sink and they turned white. Softener performance remained the same with the grayish color pellets, but I chose to refill using another Manufacture with white cubes until Morton pellets become white again. I'm only doing this as a precaution and wanted to share my experience with the grayish color pellets..

Salt has sediments now

Salt is no longer small white pellets. It is now larger brownish pellets full of sediments like sand & small rocks. Called Morton's before using (because I noticed it looked different) and they assured me it was fine, just from different supplier, and that it had been tested, etc... When softner gets low on salt, you can see all the "dirt" (sediments) left behind from the "dirty" salt. Contacted softerner manufacturer and they said to remove it and clean softner and do maintence (venturi, nozzle, etc...). Not buying Morton's any more after 30 years.

Terrible handles now

We have super hard water so I go through about 5 bags of this a month. Recently the handles on the bags have been terrible. The last 5 bags I got, all 5 handles broke when I picked them up. Next time I went the first 2 I grabbed again broke so I didn't get any that time. The hard plastic can cut your hand when they break too. I think I'll have to buy elsewhere for awhile

Unhealthy and Dirty

I have purchased this salt for many years. Over the past year the salt was very pure and white like salt should be. However, recent purchases have show the salt to be very impure. My water softener is so dirty in the bottom that I am going to have to drain it and clean it out or replace it. Substandard salt like this is unacceptable and is a health hazard not to mention it reduces the life of your softener.

Low quality for Morton's

These "pellets" are now terrible and I will not buy these bags anymore at Sam's Club. The tablets used to be pure white nicely formed cube pellets but now they look like off-white or brown small briquettes with a huge amount of salt dust in the bag. I contacted Morton Salt company after finding several dark brown briquettes and was concerned about the safety of using them The company representative I spoke with adamantly assured me that the quality was fine and it was a manufacturing process difference. I am not so sure about that and will stop using this salt from Sam's. Interestingly, I purchased a 40 lb bag from another retailer and those pellets were pristine white and the quality was top-notch. Obviously, the "warehouse club" bag is made by another producer that is very substandard and cuts corners in order to keep the price lower. It's too bad because I always thought the merchandise at Sam's was high quality, but I can tell you that this salt certainly is not!

Salt everywhere

Good salt, good price, bad handling, made a mess. If you buy in store, check for small holes; if you get it delivered, you can't check, won't find out til too late, not returnable. Looks like they stacked and dragged, there's salt everywhere from small holes, small delivery person had a hard time with these 44lb bags, so may have been handled roughly all along its path. Talking or chatting with the comapny is like dental surgery. Delivery slot times are imaginary, too.

Yellow pellets BAD

I called morton when I noticed the pellets were yellow, they said it is naturally processed,so it is yellow, but the same quality as their other softener salt! It is awful!Used 4 bags of it, I am now trying to figure out why water won't drain. It was filthy! Other stores still sell the white fully processed salt.
