About 18 months ago we had a full house filtration and water softener installed and it requires salt pellets to maintain the system and soften the water. It has a guide on how much you should use over time and there are two of us living in a townhouse and under normal water consumption one bag of Morton Clean Protect is lasting about 4 months! Our water is nice and soft comparing to water experience in 5 star hotels! This is a great product and I recommend it for anyone with a water softening system.
