Super Quiet Shredder

I bought this unit because of the warranty, capacity and good looks. The bonus is that it is quiet. Yes, if you try, you can jam this machine by ignoring the red indicator light. Stay in the green or yellow zone and shred as much as you want. The real test will be how well it stands up over the next five years. I expect it will still be functioning just fine.

Pretty Good Product

The shredder clearly works fine. I was just hoping that it could hold a larger number of sheets. Initially it accepted a larger amount, then half way through it stopped shredding. I had to take out some papers for it to continue. Other than that I am very pleased!

Well Priced

My medical office uses 2 Fellowes shredders ever day purging files as well as daily paper work. I just bought my third Fellowes shredder due to # 2 no longer completely doing the job after being used for 4 years. My first purchase is still in use. There was no question on my part as to which shredder to order as I have been so happy with the first 2 Fellowes shredders. THANK YOU!!

Great Shredder

I am self employed and work out of my home. I've bought other shredders that were smaller and have had to replace them after a year because I use it for personal as well as business. This shredder is a work horse and never jams. Would have saved myself several hundreds of dollars and lots of time if I had bought this instead. I highly recommend this product. It is worth the money.

not that great

I've had several cheap shredders over the years and have usually beaten them up. I can see why this model doesn't jam;you have to BABY it. After paying almost 10 times as much as the cheapies, I expected lightning speed and ease of use. Instead I got a unit that has all kinds of safeties and is hard to load. I immediately shut off the "safe sense" and load indicator. The sensing switch is so tight that it's very difficult to get a sheet into the shredder. It does have power but doesn't have any speed unless you consider that you can load several sheets at once without slowing down. It doesn't really cross/cut the sheets either. I could easily put together a shredded page as it does an interrupted strip shred. (long strip with pseudo random cuts) The recommended usage is only about 50 times a day. The 'bin full' light is nice as it precurses getting the blades jammed with the shredded dross.

Amazing Shredder

This shredder is great. It's durable, quiet, doesn't jam at all, shreds all kinds of paper, and almost never overheats (unless it's being used for excessive periods of time). I would recommend this shredder to anyone looking for a good investment. It's a little expensive, but definitely worth the money!

Do not settle for cheaper options

I only have had it for a day, but had lots of shredding to catch up on after my old shredder broke down. I am very impressed and pleased with the shredder, especially because I researched this purchase extensively. If you want to see a good demonstration of capabilities, check out some videos on youtube. I also saw it in action at an office, which ultimately made me buy this make and model. (I, however, bought it for home office use.) Anyway, this shredder is quiet, powerful and it looks good. It is not bulky, and the optional coasters allow it to roll easily to and from under my desk. A scale of colored lights lets you know how hard the shredder is working. The shredder comes with a small bottle of oil, required every time you empty the bin, according to the manual. Some plastic bin bags for shreds are included as well.

Excellent Shredder

I bought this shredder after owning a previous shredder made by Fellowes. That shredder was very loud and apt to jam at times. That's what finally made the previous shredder quit--too many jams. So I opted for this more expensive shredder hoping this will last much longer. I am happy so far with its very quiet operation. I hope the price I paid is reflected in its durability.

Better than the reviews indicate!

I love my new Fellowes 79Ci. It is a replacement for a less-than-two-year-old Royal shredder that stopped working; it was of similar size and shredding capacity to the 79Ci. As to the reviews I read before purchasing this shredder: (1) Some reviewers had trouble getting the casters in. I had very little difficulty; with just a little wiggling of the caster, it slipped right in. (2) Reviewers complained about the bin not shutting if it is partially full with shredded paper. The bin shuts solidly even if mostly full. Just push it in at the middle of the drawer--down about 4-5" from the hand-hold. (3) Then there were complaints about having to open the bin periodically to push the shredded paper down. Yes, I do have to open the bin and mash the shredded paper down fairly often. However, it is less often than with the Royal shredder I had and the 79Ci stops taking the paper when the bin is showing full and needs to have the paper pushed down. The Royal kept taking the paper and then it jammed, requiring a lengthy process of removing the pieces of paper that were stuck in the shredder blades. I'm very glad I ordered this shredder.

A satisfying purchase!

This shredder has met all my expectation and more. Its efficiency and low noise level when in operation is excellent and a pleasure to use. The design of the cabinet and the paper feed shows that your engineering and design department is "on-the-ball." I am certain that it will give many years of trouble free service. RHB
