About a year ago I made the switch from these reusable razors to straight-razor shaving for several reasons. It's much more cost effective, it's much better for your skin, I like the morning ritual of taking care of my face, and it feels good to have such an old-world skill. I had been growing my beard out when my Gillette Fusion Proglide arrived, so I started with a clean canvas. I did everything the same as I always do, I trimmed down my beard with clippers, used my pre-shave lotion and lathered up with soap and a badger brush. Having previously used these Gillette razors, I knew what to expect. There was some tug, as always, because my beard is pretty thick. The Flex Ball worked as intended, as the razor got into all the tricky areas. One thing I've always disliked about these razors, though, is the head is so big that at times I can't see what/where I'm shaving. It makes it really hard to do any precision cleanup if you're doing sideburns or a goatee or anything. The lubricating strip was nice, but like always after the first shave it's already spent and dried up. I finished the shave nick-free, which is always a plus. No redness or skin irritation, so I was pleased in that aspect. Bottom line, this is a really good razor for guys with thin beards that just want to quickly shave their whole face without a lot of discomfort. The biggest complaint, as always, is how much you will spend on replacement blades.

I've tried many and the main difference is the Gillette's razors produce the smoothest shaves with the least amount of irritation, in my experience. With that, the razor is still not as good as a safety razor and it is much more expensive for a lesser experience. Yes, I said Gillette is the best cartridge razor, but my experience with the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor is that it is not as close of a shave as my safety razor. Even with five blades, it is not as close and not as irritation-free of an experience with just one safety blade. CLOSENESS: I have a full beard, but I shave my throat area. Attached is a picture from my shave this morning with the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor. You can see that it is not very smooth. I still have some hairs that are showing and I have a few bumps. Note that I have sensitive skin. PIVOT HEAD: The pivot head is supposed to allow shaving in more difficult areas of the face. For me, I do not see the benefit of this feature. I see no harm in it, but I see no benefit, either. SUMMARY: I will always choose the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor when my safety razor is not available to me. Although it is not as good as my safety razor, it provides and adequate experience as an alternative.

It responds to contours for the smoothest shave and gets virtually every hair. It is clearly one of the best, if not the best razor that I have ever used. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like Gillette products, and have used many different varieties, but this simply was not a good razor. I get closer shaves from a dual or triple blade razor. My old Gillette Twin Plus, (with the ones that slide on), beats this device hands down. The main problem for me is that the blades are too close together, causing them to clog almost immediately. It felt like it was just sliding over my stubble, catching a few hairs at a time. After it clogged up, it was almost impossible to clean it. The contour feature seemed to work well around my chin, etc., but I still had to go over the area several times to get a decent shave, and I was not satisfied overall. The styling looks impressive, but a good shave is a good shave no matter what the razor looks like. I did give it high marks for the trimmer on the back, for detail edging, but I cannot recommend this razor to anybody. I don't know how much it retails for, but I really doubt that I would buy one.

I have now used the Pro Fusion line of Gillette for 3 years. It is a great razor. From my own expierence Gillette is the best razor product on the market!

As someone who has been ignoring all innovation in shaving and sticking exclusively with the Gillette Mach 3, I was clearly skeptical when first trying out the Gillette Fusion Proglide with Flexball technology. Is it really that much better than the razor I have been using? After my first shave the answer is a resounding YES. The razor lives up to every claim it makes. I have a fairly defined jawline and the Flexball makes a huge difference navigating the contours of my face and neck by pivoting side to side while staying close to my skin without any added pressure. As someone with thick, coarse hair, a comfortable shave is the most important aspect of my experience. The blades provide a close shave with absolutely no tug or pull in my case for a heavenly comfortable experience. The thinner blades just glide across my skin and required noticeably fewer strokes to get the job done. The Proglide handle feels great in my hand and has a nice weight to it, not too heavy but enough so that you know it is there. It is a subtle difference versus the Mach 3 handle but it is a welcome addition. So what are you waiting for? Upgrade your morning ritual with the Gillette Fusion Proglide and you'll be looking forward to your next shave. I know I am.

The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Manual cartridge has proven to be a very good blade. The ProGlide is true to its name as it did just that....glide across the surface of my face. Normally, I use an electric shaver but if I ever thought about replacing it, it would be with the ProGlide. However, it did tug and pull just a bit when I used it for the first time. I'm guessing it is because of texture of my facial hair but once I got it going it was pretty smooth. Robert Mangum
