[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got my free Proglide Razor in the mail, and I was really excited to see if it would out-perform my Schick that I bought just because I had a coupon when I decided to use a cartridge razor in addition to an electric razor. I used it first to cut 1/4" facial hair, and it ripped and pulled a lot more than my Schick under the same circumstances. I'm not entirely sure why so many razor blades are "necessary," but it invariably reminds me of the Monkey Movie Shorts from long ago about the absurd number of blades on razors. When I used it the next day on one day's growth, it did a much better job. It still left my skin red and irritated, but I have sensitive skin. The 2-in-1 gel did not help, but the other product I normally use did a great job helping the razor glide and the aftershave I use helped to reduce the burn.

The razor uses the same 5 blade cartridges as the older non flex handle razors. When shaving with the newer flexball handle, I did not notice much of a change, I found myself shaving the same way I have always shaved. If the product was priced about the same as the others it would be worth a try. With practice perhaps I will get used to not contorting my face in funny ways to shave and let the razor do the bending for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To be fair, this review may be somewhat harsh as I took up using double-edge safety razors just over a year ago and have never gotten better shaves in my life as I have from those. My lack of skin irritation, comfort level, and closeness of shaves has gone through the roof as a result, so going back to a cartridge razor like this Gillette ProGlide Razor had me skeptical. The result of using the ProGlide Razor: It is ok. But I'm skewed since I use real razors. If you've only known cartridge razors your whole life and are not enlightened to real razors, you'd probably think the ProGlide is good to great. The ProGlide is comfortable to hold and it does glide nicely over the skin. My first shave with it was fairly effective, but make sure to rinse the blade often as it can clog with hairs and shaving gel quickly. Also, do yourself a favor and learn what the real razor users do by doing your first shaving pass with the grain of your hair growth and then following up with a second coat of shaving gel and then shaving across the grain of your hair growth. This will help eliminate a LOT of skin irritation and pulling. The blade on this first shave was pretty sharp and did a good job. Again, make sure you rinse the blade a lot. The pivoting/rotating head does flow over the shape of your face pretty well, but it does not give anywhere near the close shave of a safety razor. Also, because Gillette insists on using so many blades, the head is pretty tall and thus it is hard to get into smaller areas like the valley above your chin or above your lips. The ProGlide head does give quite a bit so the risk of being too rough on your skin is minimal. The second shave with the ProGlide proved to be about the same as the first, so the razor blades held a sharp edge for at least two shaves. This looks to be a solid product that should keep shaving novices or those in a hurry fairly clean-shaven for a day, but it does not give the close shave or overall quality shave that a double-edge safety razor can do. Those who have shaved with a safety razor know the clean, smooth, refreshed, and calming effect that a good shave can give a man. You won't find that with the ProGlide. For me, the ProGlide is not exciting to shave with and won't have me switching back to cartridge razors. However, it does seem to flow with the shape of your face in a mild manner and not rip up your skin.

The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Manuel Razor is the best razor I have ever experienced. It has five (5) blades, that cut closer and smoother than any razors I have ever used before. I experience very little if no irritation at all with these fine blades.after just the first week of use I have been able to experience a better, cleaner, closer shave. I recommend this razor to everone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This razor I use along side with the art of shaving because of the closness of the shave all the time! I shave backwards after the front side down shave to get the "baby" face closeness when I shave just like a barber does!

This is probably the best razor I have tried in a long time. I first noticed that it was a bit different when I took it out of the package. I like the feel of the handle. The handle has a much more substantial feel to it and the grip is much better than most razors on the market. Probably the most important thing about any razor is whether it gives a close, smooth shave. This definitely outperforms in both of the categories. Because the blades are thinner there is no pull -- just a smooth, effortless shave. It glides over bumps on my face with ease and makes me feel as though I am getting a good close shave.

However, after trying this, I am back on Gillette Fusion. Amazing shave that is close and the razor cartridge lasts almost a week for me, a hairy person.
