Sky Fort II

We purchased the Sky Fort II for our grand kids. It is advertised as being made of cedar. It is NOT CEDAR. It is a white wood painted a cedar color. A little disappointed as we might have chosen a different product had we known. We are worried this wood won't hold up well.

Solid product, directions need some work

The product itself is great. It will last, it is sturdy and I have no doubt about my kids safety. Putting it together, however, was a frustrating experience. We have done fairly major construction in the past but while putting this together we had to take several pieces apart and put them together again because the piece had to go a certain way and the directions did not specify. Be detailed, count and organize the pieces ahead of time and you will save yourselves time. I would get it again.

Great product, great directions for assembly.

This is a really good product that comes in four large boxes full of numbered stamped boards and hardware. It over 4 hours to unpack and sort and arrange all of the pieces and I am estimating about 25 - 30 hours to follow the very clear directions to assemble it. The boards are fairly thin but quite adequate for a play structure. The hardware (bolts, nuts, screws) is very robust and of good quality. It came with all the correct bits for the bolts. I enjoyed putting this together and am impressed with its design and quality of its components. The grandkids loved it!

Beautiful Play Set

This is a nice set and the price is good, but it is not an easy build. There are 4 boxes in the order and each box has its own parts list. Open the boxes one at a time and confirm all the parts in the box before going on to another box. The manual is uneven in quality. Some parts have holes in them that have to be oriented a certain way. Make sure you have the pieces oriented properly before attaching them. You want to get this level both vertically and horizontally. Make sure you have things leveled and squared before securing the fasteners. When you are done expect to use at least 3 gallons of wood preservative the first time you apply wood preservative - I would also recommend getting the best preservative you can buy. I did this mostly by myself and it took me about 45 hours. Emptying the boxes, sorting the parts and confirming them against the parts list took several hours. Some things you absolutely need help with. If you assemble this correctly you will be happy with it. Just make sure you are up for the task. You need to be patient and take time to confirm what you are doing. Keep all the fasteners in their original bags. There are lots of different sizes of fasteners and boards.

Wondweful Playground

Installed 2 months ago at our mountain cabin. Our grandkids love it. The woodsy look blends into the woods perfectly. Looks like it belongs. Several stations so many kids can play at once. We also rent the property and our clients enjoy this feature for their kids.

A lot of work, but worth it!

It took 2 of us (not overly skilled) 22 hours to complete assembly. We used a combination of the instructions included and the App. Highly recommend using both to ensure everything is put together properly. If you miss a tiny detail you may have to go back and fix earlier steps. We followed other reviewers instructions to organize the hardware and wood before assembly and it saved us a ton of time and aggravation. It was worth the long tedious assembly as our 3 kids enjoy it immensely and it has kept them busy in the backyard during the Covid-19 pandemic. Even our teenager enjoys the swings, the crows nest and the fort itself as he can stand up in there with plenty of room to spare. Our toddler only uses the ladder, slide and belt swing on the lowest setting, but our grade schoolers make great use of the whole thing including the monkey bars. They are quite high (about 6 feet) but my short 6 year old can reach from the ladder easily. My kids and neighbor kids have said it is the best swing set they have ever seen on someone's property, almost as good as some of the playgrounds at city parks.

Worth the time to build...I think!

My kids love this, but it took SEVERAL days to build. My husband and I worked two solid days on it and then he put in an additional 3 days to complete it! Our girls do love it though, so I think it is worth it. Maybe you want to consider paying people to put it together?

Turned out great!

Both about a month ago. Definitely need a little skill and a whole lot of patience to put it together. It took just about the whole 22hours to get it completed. But we had to stop for rain as well. The kids love it! And we are just glad it’s put together finally.

Excellent Quality

We have had out Sky Fort for about a year and a half. We couldn't be more pleased with the purchase. When it arrived on a very large truck, we were a bit intimidated. However, the precise directions, clearly marked pieces of wood, and pictures in the manual made putting this together very doable for two adults. As for the upkeep of the wood, we have not had to maintain the stain color. The wood still looks as beautiful as it did when we put it together. The specialty hardware keeps the bolts tight and doesn't seem to need much tightening.

Completely worth the effort!

We bought the Skyfort II after scouring through multiple different play sets because we saw so many features that our daughter could grow in to. As a four year old, she loves the swings, the climbing wall, the slide, and the play areas. Now that summer has arrived we look forward to having picnics and having friends over. She added flowers to her windows and we added a teeter totter under the monkey bars until she’s old enough. I feel comfortable as a mom letting her play outside on her own and know that she is getting some much needed free play time. Assembly: We took the advice of others and watched some YouTube videos before starting. We spent one weekend separating out all of the items into step-by-step piles and the hardware into baggies. It was detailed, but it made the assembly process so much easier and didn’t waste my kind volunteer’s time. We assembled it easily over two days with 4 active assemblers. Our daughter was sliding and swinging by Sunday evening! I highly recommend the Skyfort II. We sealed it once last September with a water based protectant and will do so once a year to keep it looking great.
