the kids like it...
Overall i must say it is a good value for the price. on the other hand, the saying "you get what you pay for" is some what true with this set. Even though this set is priced lower than other sets looked at, there are some areas where the manufacturer could improve. HARDWARE AND WOOD The hardware is on the skimpy side. Washers were breaking out of the bag, protective coating on hardware comes off. Wood is cracked and bent/bowed, right out of box. DELIVERY The delivery came sooner than expected. The only problem with that is they gave me not time to prepare. Delivery instructions say the delivery company will contact you a day before. Try 1 hour. Delivery company sends one person to deliver this huge pallet. Driver asked wife to help unload pallet since its impossible for him to do alone. Wife refused and driver was upset and on his way back. Wife had to ask neighbor to help. INSTRUCTIONS Even though instructions are very good, there are some areas where the instructions could be clearer. Where the orientation of wood is important for future steps, it would help to have all the features (holes/c'bores/notches) on wood displayed on picture. That way you can see which set of holes go to what end. On some instances you have to drill new holes, or take it apart and fix, causing frustration and more time. Took me 2 full days to assembly with my 7 and 11 year old as helpers. Once was completed, was worth every second, and cent.
great purchase, you get what you pay for
I searched for a lot of swingsets and this one is the best by far in size-price. The wood is not the best at all but for the price I guess is what you pay for. Now the assembly is not easy, the instructions are not 100% right and sometimes you have to be intuitive as how the board should be placed, pictures do not help because some of the pictures are wrong too, but I guess instructions are about 90% correct. Before you start DO make an inventory and group all boards that have the same letters. Follow the advise of the other reviewers for inventory of boards, hardware, etc..... I hired 3 people to help me, and after all boards were accounted for and grouped, it took us 12 hrs to assemble. Two six hour days. If something is missing customer service is great.
Thank you for the review
Built to last
It's been a year since we purchased and built the sky fort II and we couldn't be happier. The construction process was straight forward and the instructions were well written. Construction took a full weekend. Had a helper for the first day and everything went pretty quick even after by myself. Using multiple screw guns/impact drivers sped things up with not having to change bits all the time. My kids love the set and they will get years of playing out of it. Definitely something they can grow with. I absolutely recommend this. It does have a large footprint so you'll need the space. Very sturdy and solid! After 1 year exposed to direct sun the factory finish is starting to fade so it will need regular up keep on the water sealing but I think that's started in the manual.
Great backyard fun!
My grandchildren enjoy it from the 2 yo to the 8 yo…. It is sturdy and looks great in our large backyard…The company was great, as it looked like it was going to sit in the delivery storage for over a week an hour away and we called to see if we could pick it up to get it done before the Holiday and it was on our property in 24 hours, and up our long driveway sitting by the garage which was great! I’m sure we will get great use of it over the next 10 years or so…it was easy to follow instructions and assemble and my husband did it by himself over 2.5 weeks just in time for traveling family …Thanks again, and several people have asked about it
Will keep kids busy for hours and days!
We bought ours a few weeks ago and our kids love it! I highly recommend getting this one since it has both monkey bars and swings. Our cousins have the same one and their 11 year-old still uses the monkey bars and climbs in and out of the windows. The littles spend hours in the sandbox. Bonus: you can get trapeze rings to hang from the middle bars. Only downside is there isn't much room between swings so kids need to make sure hands are close to themselves. Also, don't attempt to build this yourself unless you're super handy and have another super handy person with you. It's well worth the time and money to hire out the assembly.
Great Swing Set
We bought this for our daughter who will be 3 soon with hopes that she would be able to play with this set for a long time. We don't quite have the set together yet, but I think she will get many years of enjoyment out of it. It comes in 4 big boxes that have to be carried by at least two people. We took out the hardware (screws, bolts, etc.) first and I separated them into a couple dozen throw away food storage containers and labeled the outside of the plastic container. This was a huge help! It has made the small pieces easy to find, and keeps all 400 of some of the screws together in one place. We were missing a couple of bolts and some flat washers, but we just went to our neighborhood hardware store and picked some up. The directions are a little difficult to interpret. They're often vague and the pictures aren't helpful sometimes. My husband, who is extremely handy and has built many things for our home, and my dad who is very good at building stuff as well, have found that they've had to undo some of the steps because the directions weren't explicit and it wasn't until three steps later they discovered that they had attached something incorrectly. This is very frustrating and has caused the project to take a bit longer than it probably should have taken. Plan on spending quite a bit of time working on this. We started the set on a Friday night after my husband got off work. We worked on it off and on during the weekend because it was very rainy and stormy. We've worked on it most nights after our daughter goes to bed as well, but there are 103 steps to putting the set together and some steps require screwing 16 boards in place, for example. So, it takes a while. My husband recommends having a cordless drill with at least two batteries so that you can keep recharging the batteries. We have used the drill as a screwdriver and socket wrench, and this has cut down on the time spent screwing stuff together. If you can, try to have someone help you put it together. That way, one person can retrieve the parts you need, while the other person puts it together. This also cuts down on time. Overall, we're pleased with the quality of the set and the priced we paid. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family. Our daughter is chomping at the bit to get out there and play on the set!
Great Swingset
Great swingset. A lot of pieces and parts to put together and very time consuming. Make sure to pre drill holes so wood doesn't split and pay attention to the already pre drilled holes on boards as you assemble, the directions don't point this out very well and if you get a board backwards you will have to take it back apart and flip the board the correct way. All and all its a great value and seems like it will last!
Great Features
I bought this in May for my daughter’s birthday. Big 3, and so far it’s still under construction but will be finished soon. I would say it does need additional information on which way some of the wood pieces go. Especially on some that look alike. I’ve caught myself having to redo and unscrew pieces because it goes on the opposite end. As well as turning the piece around 180. Other than this, it does have many features other sets do not have. Would love to come back and update my review with photos.
Great playset but soft wood!
Let me start by saying this playset is incredible and it's beautiful. It offers so many different activities to keep the kids entertained. I can not complain about the look of it at all because it's the prettiest one I've ever seen. Now to the cons. The wood is incredibly soft and many pieces were split in the box. If you get a screw the slightest bit off, your board is going to split like a knife through butter. There were several instances where the predrilled holes did not line up at all so we had to drill new holes. On the birds nest, a screw hole intersected with a lag bolt hole, which obviously wouldn't work so we had to drill another hole here as well. One major design flaw is the opening where the money bars come into the main structure. It is directly beside of the slide so if two children were being inpatient with the slide, someone could easily fall and get seriously injured. I remedied this temporarily by placing a board across the opening. The bird nest looks really cool but I feel the floor boards for it should've been made of a much sturdier material. It took my husband and I 5 days working about 5 hours a day to get it all together. The Bilt app is absolutely amazing to help with constructing the playset. Overall I am very pleased and probably would've given it 5 stars if the wood was not so soft.
Thank you for taking the time to review our product! We are sorry to hear that you are not 100% satisfied with your product
Didn't take as long as they said.
If you have any experience in construction and can follow directions you won't have a problem. Just organize and go. It took me and one other 2 10 hr days. Very we'll thought out and engineered. I just hope the quality of wood lasts only time will tell for that
