Decent little BP machine with some issues...

The good... easy to use for the most part, nice and portable and part of the Garmin ecosystem... The bad... pain in the *** to get the cuff on correctly and tighten it, Garmin should take a cue from Omron's portable travel cuff, its amazing, also the device disconnects from WIFI on its own quite often so it doesnt sync like it should...

Excellent Tracking

I bought this BPM to help monitor my BP and send the information to my doctor. Its been a month and I sent my first report to my doctor. He was appreciative that the report was thorough and allowed him to evaluate the next steps to help keep my BP in check.

Surprisingly Bad

I purchased the Index BPM because I like Garmin products and my family needed a blood pressure monitor for medical purposes. There were many things I was looking forward to, like being able to have multiple users on the same device and having my data automatically stored in Connect. Unfortunately, the experience was so bad I returned the Index BPM and this makes me question the value of other Garmin products. First, it limits you to 5 characters for names? That's ridiculous, why doesn't it just pull your name from Connect. Second, it wouldn't actually let more than one person connect to it and have their data automatically upload to Connect. The process makes one person "own" the device and then invite others to use it, but it just never worked. Third, the design of the device is pretty big and clunky. It's very difficult to get it onto your arm correctly to take your blood pressure measurements. Finally, given the price, I expected it to be a significantly better experience than just a random blood pressure monitor I can get from anywhere but I just feel like a fool for spending two to three times the money for a bad product. I had planned on getting the Index BPM and the Index Scale and having all my data stored in Connect but now I don't think I'll be doing that. At least I hadn't purchased the scale yet. 2/5 stars, since it can still do the job when you can fit it correctly but I'm not sure I trust the numbers when it's hard to fit correctly without a second set of hands.

Highly variable readings

Two weeks in and I'm concerned that the device is not very accurate. I have another BP monitor that I've been using for quite a while. I get ridiculously high readings with the Index monitor and lower readings with the old montor. I can test with the Index just a few minutes after a high reading and get a wildly different reading a few minutes later. It does work great as far as connecting and transferring data to Connect.

Compact and easy to use!

I've been looking for a reliable way to monitor my blood pressure and this device fit the bill perfectly. I'm taking regular readings and along with the data from my Epix watch I'm getting a clearer picture of my day to day health and fitness levels.

Another Great Product From Garmin

I've been using the blood pressure monitor for a month now and find it very easy to use. I also like how it saves the information to Garmin Connect and can be viewed along with all of the other stats saved from my other Garmin products. i.e. watch, weight scale, bike cadence and speed sensors, and heart rate monitor. It took less than 10 minutes to setup once removed from the box. So far, so happy!

Difficult to view historical readings

It is convenient to use and doesn't take a lot of storage space. Without using the app, it takes a lot of steps to view the last reading and I can't see more than the latest. I don't like being forced to use the app just to check on a reading when I have the device right there!

Junk

Right out of the box, the unit had issues pairing with the app and finding our wifi. Control buttons and functions are unclear and the user manual was not much help. Battery compartment design is terrible, access is hidden beneath the cuff and the latch broke after two days so it wouldn't stay closed. All-around failure in every possible way. Returned. I wasn't going to post this review because I generally like my other Garmin products, but Garmin kept spamming me asking me for a review. Careful what you wish for.

Difficult to use with two users

This product works well if it's for only one person but if you share, it's quite frustrating. First, if you manage to load multiple users, it only recognizes one person before you have to reset the Bluetooth and/or network connection on the device. Then, after limited uses, it random knocks one of the users off. If the secondary user adds themselves back, the original account owner gets knocked off when secondary user gets added! After this happening a few times, I just stopped using it. Kind of disappointing such a piece of vital equipment isn't free if these types of bugs...

Overall, I am pleased with what this device offers

I received as a gift for Christmas and I was very excited to use it. It's easy to use and the data screens in Garmin Connect are easy to understand. However, there are 2 suggestions for improvement. 1) I do feel that sometimes the readings are over the top high- I take the readings immediately after I wake up in the mornings. There are definitely some outliers. When reaching this there are others that feel the same. Just something to look into. 2) I am 48 and my reading this AM was 127/79 which is "elevated" by AHA standards. However, if you go to a doctor's office, they will not challenge this number. I mention this because there is a fine line between Elevated and Stage 1 and also an area for concern. I don't know how to do it, but if an individual has constant elevated readings, that could cause anxiety when in reality if they went to their physicians, they would be ecstatic with these numbers. Overall a great product and I am pleased to add this to my Garmin Ecosystem.
