New and Improved

I had a Vivoactive 3 the past few years. I liked that product but it finally stopped working and the battery life was down to less than 12 hours. So I purchased a new Vivoactive 5 because it seemed to have all the same features but better battery and display. I have been very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend this watch. I use most of the activity features as well as the general health monitoring. Works great!

Excellent watch

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I am enjoying the features that log stress, sleep, and activity. The watch band is comfortable and easy to wear night and day. I am tempted to look for a protective cover for the watch face due to a tendency to hit things and not wanting it to scratch, chip, or break

Great watch

Watch is functional and stylish! Works great for tracking fitness goals and performance and is also good for every day use as well. I wish it had the ability to respond to text messages with an iPhone. Battery life is exceptional, lasts roughly 5 to 6 days before needing to be charged. Would highly recommend this watch for anyone that takes health and fitness seriously. Good job Garmin!

Glitchy

I bought this watch 2 months ago. It often stops counting steps, turns off after charging and stays off for several minutes, vibrates randomly with no notification, etc. I loved my Vivoactive 4s (which got damaged) and wish I had not “upgraded” to a 4.

Great but with a FATAL Flaw that MUST be Fixed

I've had a vivoactive 4 for ~4years and love it I recently decided to upgrade to the 5 about 2 weeks ago. I wish the size was bigger, like the 4, but I've gotten used to it. The graphics are outstanding and I enjoy many of the other new functions. However, there is a SETIOUS, FATAL flaw. The "Naps" function is GARBAGE. Any time I sit still to work, or rwad or watch TV it registers a nap. I cannot even sit to watch a 30 minute show unless I constantly wave my arm around. There is no way to delete these "naps" and you can't disable it without disabling all of the sleep functionality. I am considering returning the watch if this cannot be fixed.

Vivoactive Series Watch

I recently upgraded to the Vivoactive 5 watch. This is the third Vivoactive watch I have owned over the past number of years. The other two watch still are functional, however, like most new models of anything, there are increased functionality. The watch works and looks great and has way more functions than I will use, but it has the ones that I use most often.

Happy so far!

I really like this watch. It looks good on my wrist, easy to read in the sun, and does all the basics well. Two small quibbles: I was able to download music and listen but cannot track a run and listen at the same time. I had hoped to be able to leave my phone behind but can’t yet. Second I got a small scratch on the bezel and crystal via a relatively knock. I wish the materials were a little more scratch resistant.

Not what I'd hoped for

Disconnects from Garmin connect for no reason, tough to reconnect. Garmin golf app is trash, and Garmin makes their app proprietary, thus not being able to pair with far superior apps like 18 birdies. Constantly have to reconnect to Garmin golf app for watch to find a course you've played multiple times. Satellite readings are often off by 15 yards or more, when compared to other apps and, oddly, my friends Garmin watch. Bizarre. So, yah... just buy an android and pair it to a better golf app.

Garmin Vivoactive5

Watch works very well. The touch screen is annoying at times. The buttons were better. The brightness of the display is great. The functions are very useful for tracking your health. I replaced the band on day two with a nylon one. Less chaffing on the wrist.

Garmin Vivoactive 5

Garmin Vivoactive 5 has improved functions - main face with all the information is great. I like the sleep score and information on how to improve it. However, the strength choice on Vivoactive 3 was better than the 5 model. Vivoactive 3 sensed the movements that you were doing in your workout and registered those. Vivoactive 5 does not sense the movements that you are doing. I wrote them in. It also doesn't sense when you are active in weight training, so it says you've done one set, when you've done 12 sets. I wish that the strength portion stayed as good as the Vivoactive 3 model. The 5 model has made other improvements, though.
