Would definitely recommend!

Exceeds expectations! Both my husband and I are the owners of the Garmin vivoactive 5 watches. We purchased them after researching other watches and their features. Our goal was to get in shape, be healthy and fit till late in life. What we have particularly liked about them, was a possibility of training with a coach for various length runs. I would like to stress, we are not athletes, and at first I was very skeptical with being able to run more than 1 mile without a need to walk at some point. My husband got his watch about 6 months before I did and started training for a 5K. He finished his training and recently even improved his record! I was never a runner; 1 mile was everything I could do, more so when I was younger. 5K? Sounds impossible! Right now I am in my 5th week of training. Though it was tough at the beginning, it gets easier and more fun with each training session. Right now 1 mile or even 5K are easy for me. I even ran 10K: twice already! What's more: I am looking forward to each run! So my age cannot be an excuse to be fit, especially when it gets harder to maintain your weight during perimenopause and one needs to work much harder than in 20s or 30s. The watch can also track your intensity minutes, steps, weight, heart rate, pulse oxygen, and sleep etc. It also offers helpful suggestions on reducing your fitness age. Would definitely recommend.

Garmin Vivoactive 5

This watch is very versatile you can choose the watch face that fits your personality, you also are able to choose the activities, apps and what stats you want to keep track of.This is a great watch for the beginner user or for the expert wanting to upgrade.

Disappointing

They moved and changed the controls for no apparent reason. Control buttons are frequently not responsive. No altimeter so it doesn't measure stairs. The best thing about is the charger cable seems improved, so now my old watch charges again. But only on that cable. I like your product overall, but it shouldn't be this hard to charge a watch. And I've cleaned the contacts repeatedly.

Has all of the essentials.

I originally had the Vivoactive 3, which I liked. I use it primarily to sync with my outdoor and indoor bike riding to include strength training and yoga. Oddly, I like the many selections for the actual face of the watch. I also like that it syncs with my IPhone and Garmin Connecs. I preferred to go with Fenix series, but they were too pricey. In fact, I waited for this one to go on sale. Overall, a solid watch for what I need.

Still figuring it out

I bought this to replace a Fitbit that died early. I'm 72 and only moderately tech savvy. My husband and I got it going after a bit. I'm liking the Garmin so far. Love the walk feature and GPS never poops out. Still figuring out all the features. I like the wake up routine. Not exactly sure how the sleep score is decided. The watch charges quickly. Charge lasts a long time. I'm hoping it lasts longer than the 1 1/2 years that my previous fitness tracker lasted. Since I've had the Garmin for less than a month, some ratings might differ over time.

Happy - New Vivo5 Owner

had purchased a Forerunner 55 to replace my Forerunner 235, but was disappointed with the battery life (lasted 2-3 days). Vivo 5 has been lasting 10-11 days. Like the new features (body battery, sleep score) too compared to the 235. Vivo 5 has the ability to store and playback Spotify playlists, but it is hard to operate while running and drains the battery life.

So much better than Apple Watch!

After years of wearing an Apple watch, I finally tried a Garmin. Was thoroughly surprised to discover it does as much and more! Plus....a long lasting battery (my Apple watch would die within 12 hours sometimes), slim profile (I always thought Garmin watches looked bulky), and syncs with every device I want it to. Don't think I'll ever go back (to an Apple watch, that is)!

Great but with a FATAL Flaw that MUST be Fixed

I've had a vivoactive 4 for ~4years and love it I recently decided to upgrade to the 5 about 2 weeks ago. I wish the size was bigger, like the 4, but I've gotten used to it. The graphics are outstanding and I enjoy many of the other new functions. However, there is a SETIOUS, FATAL flaw. The "Naps" function is GARBAGE. Any time I sit still to work, or rwad or watch TV it registers a nap. I cannot even sit to watch a 30 minute show unless I constantly wave my arm around. There is no way to delete these "naps" and you can't disable it without disabling all of the sleep functionality. I am considering returning the watch if this cannot be fixed.

Excellent except for one detail

I moved from a Garmin Lily to the vivoactive and too my surprise, my sleep quality is now rated as Poor, Fair, etc. I sleep well most nights and accept I move more than average. I wish I could turn the ratings as I am desirous to only learn time asleep. Remember that Jimmy Buffett song about Junior Mints and watered down Cherry Coke at the movie theater? Sleep rating for some of us is over programming.

Best Fitness Watch Ever!

Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting one, stop waiting and just do it. I will preface by saying that I’m an Apple user and it pairs with my phone just fine. Anyways, my family could not stop raving about how great their Garmin was and how I needed to get one, especially because I’ve been training for a half marathon and blah blah blah. So… I finally did it, and I wish I’d done it sooner! This thing tracks everything - steps, body battery, heart rate, sleep score - EVERY.THING. It comes with a Garmin Coach that has been giving me guided workouts. Right now mine is for running. You just go through and pick what you want to train for and they give you several coaches to choose from. Did I mention it was FREE? And I can’t believe how long the battery lasts! I use the features on this watch DAILY, and I charge it once a week. Most times not even to 100% because I don’t want to miss out on my step count. (LOL) Anyways, just get one. I don’t miss my Apple Watch at all.
