[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There's nothing worse, when you are packing a box, to lose that end of the tape and have to fiddle around - seemingly forever - to find the edge. With this product you don't have that problem. The tape edge is always there and easy to use. Another advantage is how it doesn't have that loud, ripping sound as the tape is rolled out, it's smooth and quiet. The cutting edge has not failed once, it tears off easily and evenly. The tape itself is, as all Scotch tape, excellent quality. It sticks and stays stuck. You know your boxes and packages will be securely closed when you use Scotch tape. I highly recommend this product.

This tape is easy to peel off from the roll once you find an edge and is palpably thick and robust. Seems like it would have good tensile strength. I had no trouble peeling it off the roll, which was a totally unprecedented experience. It was remarkable how I only had to try to find the edge once, and once I did the tape would simply come off. With other tape, I look for the edge with a fingernail, then use my fingernail to get under it. This usually tears and offers a sliver of usable tape, so the "fingernail digging" process must be repeated several times until the sliver is big enough to get the full width of tape elevated. Once you elevate Sure Start tape, it has a reduced tendency to fall back down and even when it does, it tends not to lay perfectly flat so it is easy to find the edge again. Adhesion to a standard corrugated cardboard box was strong but not extraordinary. Some tape, like Scotch Heavy Duty, seems to stick and lay flat on just about any surface. I felt confident with the hold and the workability of the Sure Start tape, but it was not a "knock my socks off" kind of hold. Still way better than the budget, extra-thin tape that I have used in the past where the ends would start to peel off from the package spontaneously. For shipping something heavy, I would still be included to overlap the tape and complete a full revolution around the box so that you have tape-on-tape contact keeping your box closed rather than just tape-on-box contact. As one might imagine, some compromise between adhesion to a box and cohesion between the layers of a roll has to be stricken. This tape does a good job of that. The cohesion is easy to overcome beyond compare, which is really this tape's biggest selling point. As far as adhesion to packaging, this tape does OK.

It comes off the roll smoothly without folding over on itself or wrinkling. The plastic tabs below the blade prevent the end of the tape from sticking back to the roll - no searching for the end of the tape! The blade cuts evenly and easily so the end of the tape stays even. Great product!

Most of all, I loved how quiet it was when dispensing. I have used other tapes that are very noisy and hard to maneuver, but that is not the case with the Sure Start. I will be buying this in the future.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotch Packaging Sure Start made my return purchases by mail stress free. We make many of our purchases on-line. When we need to make returns it nice to know the packaging tape will do what it is intended to do and without that "ripping" sound.

I work remotely and have to ship several boxes back to a main office every week. This is the only tape I have ever used that doesn't stick to itself and to the wrong places on the box as I am applying it. It feels a tad thicker than regular tape and unrolls quietly. I hope never to buy another kind.

"Sure Start" is not as thick as the older 3M packaging tape. I used it on all sides of a 20 pound box of books in the usual way (no problems with taping like this in the past). The recipient just wrote to say the box arrived burst open with some other junk in it (not the books), with the statement, "next time use a LOT more tape." So don't rely on this !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product from 3M to review. I liked how quiet and easy the tape was to unwind. At work, we have different ones that are so loud and hard to unroll, and the whole office can hear when you use it. For that reason this product would be a nice substitute. The stickiness seemed average. I was able to stick and unstick it from cardboard pretty easily. Definitely would not use it for a heavy box or anything heavy duty. Light shipping would be fine. I also had a tough time getting it started (the ends kept splitting apart), but once I got it going it was fine. Overall, pretty average for tape, but the quiet aspect could definitely be beneficial.

Been using Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping tape forever but will be switching to this one when I use up the rolls I still have on hand. Actually, am tempted to donate my old ones and replacing with this one!
