We bought this gazebo to replace a cloth topped unit we have had for 3 years. The packaging was great, the boxes sat covered on my trailer for 2 months while we refurbished our deck prior to setting up the gazebo. I was pleased to see everything was in good shape when we unpacked everything. We did not have a chance to inspect the boxes at delivery, so we inspected after they had left, and where pleased to see all looked good. The metal roof installation can be tricky since you can't walk it, but it turned out good. I added a black drip edge to low end, and will have a 5" gutter installed as well. My only criticism of the unit is the front and rear ends are not solid pieces. The sandwiching at the ends of them are not ideal in my opinion. But overall a very nice unit and I would recommend highly.

I bought this to put on our farm for small community activities and it’s great! It did take a WHILE to assemble. The instructions thought it would take 3 people about 6 hours to assemble - that was wildly wrong. We had four people (2 strong people, an engineer, and an architect) and it took us 2.5 days (about 16-20 hours). It was simple to follow the instructions and all of the pieces and hardware were well labeled. The app instructions were much more clear than the printed booklet. It looks excellent, we love it, and I already want another!

I needed a gazebo no taller than 8 feet or so, since I wanted to keep my tress without much trimming. This gazebo fits our space perfectly. I know it's called the 'XL Grill Gazebo', but for us it's the pool tools and shade gazebo. The power box and shelves are perfect for pool items and other backyard tools. The shade space is great. I would have loved a bigger one, but don't have the space in the area I had designated. Installation was professional and my dealings with the BYD service folk was outstanding. The quality of the solid cedar wood parts is exceptional. I would definitely recommend BYD with no reservations.

You definitely need at least 2 people to assemble, but honestly it’s not bad and the instructions are superb. The quality of all the backyard discovery products are superb, and look amazing!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this gazebo about a month ago and love the way it increases functionality of our deck! It was a bit tough for us to set up by ourselves, being in our 60’s, but we managed, and now we are just thrilled! Great to sit under for morning coffee, lunch, or reading. Wood is beautiful, and the convenience of electricity is nice.

This 20x20 carport kit arrived in 11 boxes. When we opened them, there was hundreds of boards and several hundred bolts, nuts, screws, washers and brackets. This could all be intimidating! But, my wife (age 71) and I (age 75), sorted out the lumber and applied an outdoor stain to all of the pieces. We also sorted out the hardware. Luckily, my 75th birthday party coincided with the need to erect the nine vertical posts, so we had help. You really do need extra people for this step. After that, it was all on my wife and I. Took us about three days to finish, working short days because of the heat. A few things to note: Every drilled hole was exactly in the right place. However, on some occasions, boards had to be flopped to align the holes, otherwise you'd think the holes were drilled in the wrong spots. Try not to leave the untreated boards out in the blazing sun. They will twist. Be careful on opening the bags of hardware to keep all of the pieces in their bags, and to be able to read the numbers on the ripped-open bags. You cannot spend too much time squaring the roof. We must have measured it 20-25 times as we went along, before putting up the metal panels, as each time we worked on plumbing the posts and installing the rafters required a slight adjustment. As it was, we were 1/4 inch off, and that 1/4 inch did show up when we put on the metal panels. We installed this carport onto a concrete barn floor laid about 100 years ago. They made concrete tough in those days. Several of the screws we drilled into the concrete snapped off just as they were getting tight. (This also happened with concrete screws we bought at Home Depot, so not necessarily the result of low quality screws by the company.) While the instructions say not to get on the roof, unless you have long, long arms, you do have to either sit on the roof beams or lean way over to screw in the metal roofing panels. But I never felt any weakness from the structure when doing so. Oh, I was lucky and had a dental procedure this summer which has limited my eating. Consequently, I lost about 20 pounds. You need to be lean to fit through the holes between rafters in order screw in the panels from above. By following the instructions (and reading ahead a few pages) this project was very do-able for us. It turned out so beautiful that even our neighbor, who is a building contractor and perfectionist, has complimented us. It does the job of keeping our car and other vehicles dry and is a wonderful addition. We would recommend this carport.

We bought this gazebo for a commercial project at our business. We recently installed two e-bike chargers at our Bike Shop Cafe and needed a cover to keep the heavy weather off them. It was a great size that fit perfectly in the space and was easily constructed.

We have been looking for a grill Gazebo the last few years. Finally this is exactly what we had in mind! This grill gazebo has everything it has your electrical outlet, countertops and it's a beautiful sturdy well built structure! We certainly recommend downloading the app to assemble. Very easy to follow and awesome interacting instructions. Definitely worth five stars!

I was planning on designing and building my own covered grilling / smoking area, but I have been "planning" for 4 years now, and somehow never got around to it. Then I saw an ad for the Saxony XL Gazebo and it was exactly what I wanted to build. I finally decided to go ahead and buy this kit and am very happy that I did! The hardest part of this project for me was the site preparation. I had to clear out old landscaping and run electrical wiring for a smoker and lights. Then I installed pavers and was finally ready to assemble the gazebo. After staining all the parts, assembly was a breeze. I was very impressed with how well laid out everything was and all pilot holes and whatnot were right on. I was having a bit of a hard time attaching the roof panels but found that setting the front edge on some scrap 2x4's made it much easier. You can see that in the first photo. The next hardest part was putting the roof on, but luckily three of my son's friends came over to help. They are all over 6' so we didn't even need a ladder! :) Now I just need to get my grill and smoker in place and do some landscaping around the gazebo. But somehow it got to be December and in the Pacific Northwest, that is not a great time for yardwork...
