Everything I was hoping for

It arrived in good condition and I followed the setup instructions and was operating very quickly. The quality is great, it puts out great pressure and the various tips makes it very versatile. Cleaning brick, sidewalk, decks, fencing and even my new dry river bed rock is all done to my expectations. The yellow tip will dig into concrete if you are no careful, huge power. Years ago, I had an small electrical pressure washer but it was not powerful enough, a 'toy' compared to this one. This one is just like a rental I used a few years ago, tremendous power. I would like a longer hose and possibly a longer wand #so my 6 ft body does not have to bend over slightly, bad back# but not enough to go buy one yet. It does drink gas when the throttle is on max but I would not want to give up the power for the minor inconvenience of gas. A tip, run the water to get all, and I mean all, air out of the pump system for it run well. That may take a few minutes of the hose on and the gun trigger open before starting the motor. The pump does not like anything compressible, like air.

NOT A GOOD START!

I took delivery today of my Simpson 3228-S power washer. I fired it up, cleaned for approximately 10 minutes and then noticed oil in the cleaning water. I immediately shut the washer off and saw that the plastic oil level window was blown out and all of the oil had leaked from the machine. This is not a good start to a happy purchasing experience, and the machine is now in a local repair shop referred by Simpsom. Needless to say, putting the unit in for repair the first day it was received is not giving me the warm and fuzzies. The plastic window seems like a weak link in a otherwise great piece of equipment and I fear it will be a repeat problem in the future. The plastic is soft and flexible with only a approx. 1/16” holding or retaining rim on a otherwise large surface. The oil was filled at the factory to the proper center bead level, but internal pump pressure will surely cause more problems in the future with what I have to feel is a poor pump design. To say that the jury is still out on this “Brand New” power washer is a under- statement.

Good balance of power vs cost

I've used it only a few times so far. Read every page of the manual first! I'm glad I did. You are basically buying two machines, a pump and an engine in combination. I did call Customer Service regarding a question about the pump (no diagram is provided in the manual) and the agent was very helpful. The engine vibration dislodged some of the tips from the holder. I put a piece of the stick-on Velcro above and below the holders and then ran a strip over the tips. I used the ball style tarp holders to secure the wand and hose to the washer frame when not in use. Problems solved. It would be handier with a longer hose since the soap/chemical dispenser is external and has to be moved with the washer. I have cleaned a sidewalk, used degreaser on a truck engine compartment and washed a couple of vehicles. Proper tip selection for each job is important. With an automatic 7 - 1 dilution, it looks like most soaps and chemicals should be siphoned straight. It goes through the soap pretty fast so be decisive when using additives! The house wash I bought could probably be diluted a little.

Problems out of the box

On first start up the high pressure hose split. Called the Simpson customer service line and the replacement hose (25' standard# is not in stock. It will take 15 business days #3 weeks# to ship it out to me. Customer service was a bit brusque and not anxious to help with workarounds. Needed the washer for work this coming weekend. Not satisfied so far.

'Wears" out early

I bought this is May of 2023, no problems worked great. Started it up in March of 2025 and the pressure would not build. Called Simpson because I believed it should be under warranty, they gave me the address of the nearest shop for warranty work. Dropped it off and the shop calls me back saying Simpson won't cover because its a "wear part". Crazy that less than 2 years and its worn out. I'm a normal homeowner, I don't do this professionally everyday or anything like that.
