Outstanding TV at a low price point
This TV is an excellent value. Unlike many sets that have only 3 HDMI inputs, this one has a composite video input as well, which is uesful if you have older devices (such as VCR's or games) that have composite outputs. It also has both optical and analog (headphone) outputs. The picture quality of this set compares favorably to sets costing much more.

The TV is amazing! Beautiful picture. What meant so much to me was that we called the customer service number and the gentleman, T E, walked me through the entire set up process. He stayed on the phone and answered every question I had and made sure I was comfortable using the new TV and all of its many features. A great tv that's gated by needing Google.
It's a good tv that's isn't a good tv. Unless you're willing to use your Google information it opens up all the apps, the ability to cast from your phone, and basically all the other features you would most likely use. But if you don't want to do that, you're only given a handful of apps and the ability to use an antenna for local channels or cable if you still use that. Maybe i missed that portion on the box, but i was kinda disappointed. We attached a chromecast to it and left it at that. As for the tv itself, it's amazing for the price, the colors are vibrant and the blacks are mostly black. We replaced a vizio for this and are very happy with it.

Constant Update Nightmare
We had an older TCL Roku TV that worked great, so I didn't hesitate to buy a new one when we needed another. Unfortunately, it's been the most painful TV that we've owned. Since it's a Google TV, you have to sign in with a Google account before you can even use it. It also gets updates constantly (that you can't schedule or choose to defer) which makes it incredibly annoying when you're just trying to watch something in the moment (i.e., a sporting event or a new episode in a show). On top of that, it asks for you to re-enter your password after an update, even if the password never changed. Re-entering just takes you back to the menu and you remain disconnected from the internet. This happens multiple times (no changes to the network, no other devices with this issue in the same room). Ultimately had to reset the TV to get it to reconnect, but the issue happened again shortly after another update. Overall, the picture quality is great, but the constant functionality issues make it more of a hassle than it's worth.

Better Options Out There
Picture and sound are fine. However, you have to reconnect your wifi each time you turn it on by toggling it off and on in settings. I saw many other reviews where people had the same issue. It won't let you download many of your streaming services until you log in to Google, allowing them to track you across this device. Also, if you pause any streaming show you're watching for more than a minute it'll kick you off the platform and back to the home screen. The Roku TCL 55" is a much better TV for the same money.
