Hard work but very worth it!

This is an amazing play set! It takes a long time to put together and is not for the faint of heart! It's a big set but the instructions are very clear and easily marked. I have a 4 and 6 year old that are in love and can't get them off of it! We searched for a long time to find the biggest, most affordable set and would defiantly purchase again! I uploaded an almost complete version of the play set!

Disappointed

We bought this swing set for our 6 and 7 year old. When the boxes arrived I questioned whether it was the right swing since it did not seem like enough materials for the large swing we ordered. As the swing was being put together I started feeling the disappointment and hoped that as the levels were added that I would change my mind. Nope! My mind was not changed. The height of the kitchen areas are too small for my 6 year old. She has to duck her head when she is standing in there and my 7 year old will only have less than a year before she has to do the same. The rock wall and slides are so short...this is a swing set meant for 2-5 year olds. If SAMs would come and take it down and give me a refund it would go back! I am sick over the fact of the money we paid and do not see getting much use out of it except for the swings. Seems very expensive a price to pay for JUST swings!

Excellent Playset, worst shipping ever

Good quality. Some variability to integrity (significant warping, knots, cracks, etc...) that did not alter build at all. Time to build estimates fairly accurate for someone of moderate familiarity with building wooden kits. Playset is awesome and kids flipped for it. Best deal out there and I shopped it. Shipping is a joke. Geriatric guy in a semi by himself with a 10' pallet that broke in the middle when he tried to put it on the lift (it weighs 900lbs) If you're super handy, strong, have a friend the same, and a ton of patience go for it. Fun build.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

We bought this set about 2 years ago and it was the worst investment. Within a few months the slides broke and were not able to be used. This last fall, the wood became so brittle I broke the towers with my bare hands. Sadly we had to break it and take it to the dump. How sad that it was too cheap for a 3 year old to play on. I will never buy this brand again. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Heartbroken disappointed
1 out of 5 stars review

Heartbroken Disappointed Absolutely Terrible.

The instructions were also wet also and destroyed, I had to go to the library to print out a new instruction booklet at the cost of $20 extra! Some of the wood was damaged and I'm missing pieces and I can't identify the pieces because they are not stamped clearly! To this day I'm still unable to assemble it! When I called The Help number they said they cannot help without the numbers of the missing and damaged pieces! The reason why I gave it one star is because it wouldn't let me submit it with zero Stars.

Would Not Buy Again

I would not buy this set again. Wood is soft. A lot of missing parts, specially hardware. I ended up just going to the hardware store for the pieces I needed. I will have to mention that when I did have to call for parts (more than 4 different times) the company did send the parts quickly. I purchased another set (Gorilla brand) for my grandkids about a year ago for their house and was very pleased with the quality and value. I cannot say the same for this set. The set is supposed to be for kids up to 10 years old. I would disagree, my 4 year old grandson has trouble going through the tunnel without hitting his head. I would not purchase this set again.

Oh no! We're so sorry that the assembly process was frustrating, but pleased you were able to get the parts needed. We are sorry the size of the playset did not meet your expectations and will be happy to pass this on to our Product Development team for future consideration. -The KidKraft Customer Care Team +1 (800) 933-0771 #01001

Love it

This is a genuine review. What this playset really is.. I barely review anything online, but based on the different reviews, I decided to write a one to help a potential buyer make a decision. Very time consuming to assemble. You need patience and all the time you can get to put this together. Took me a week and a half working on this couple of hours every day. I got help ( 4 people, including me) on day one. The remaining days were all just me. From roofing to the tube slide, doors, windows, and swing stand were all me with zero help. I'm a 35 year old mum with 2 boys ages 22 months and 3 1/2 years. Playing around and seeking attention, feeding, and changing diapers in-between. I paid more attention to the pictures, and parts and screws needed than reading the instructions. Hence, I had to redo some parts, but I still continued with that approach. Much more easy to follow than reading the instructions. Make sure you lay out all parts and screws before starting. This is a must do. You'll need a drill and a few tools (this was my first time using drills and all those tools, so I seriously don't know the names. But I had all needed tolls at home. Once you lay out the parts and start, you'll have an idea of what tools are needed. Use the drilling and screwing tools that came with the product helps a lot, and don't hesitate to drill when necessary. I had some broken pieces and missing parts, but the company replaced more than just the broken and missing pieces in no time. Replacement was right on time. Did not slow me down at all. Also gave me a 100 dollar gift card for the inconvenience. The playset is just like the picture. Size and style are just like the picture. My only disappointment was the slide. Too small. There was still a little room on the sides to make the slides a little bigger. After it's built, it's really sturdy. There has to be an earthquake and serious tornado to bring it down. Woods look fragile initially, but while done, it is strong and sturdy. Make sure you use the item to secure the swing to the ground. Don't leave that out. Makes a huge difference in making the playset secure and sturdy. The lower part will accommodate kids not more than 3 feet standing, but I do sit and play in there with my kids, and I'm 5'7". The upper level has more room for taller kids. I'm 150lbs, and I'm able to play in the upper level with my kids, but I don't think I'm going to make it an everyday thing. Truthfully, it is best for not more than 120 lbs kids and adults. But can occasionally accommodate not more than 160 lbs kids and adults. Overall, my entire family loves the playset and looks sturdy enough to last years. I will recommend this. Just be ready to put in the work to assemble it. Alot of patience is required. This is my first time building something this huge and tedious. It is doable with or without help. But help is always better

Grandson Loves It - Will enjoy!

First off, I will give this 5 stars for the enjoyment and pleasure my grandson is getting out of this. He is having a ball. He should have years and years of fun playing on this. Second, I can only give this 3 stars as far as the instructions are concerned. My father and I put this together and we do know what we are doing. However, the instructions are on the confusing side. Also, instructions state, 2 men can build this in 28 hours. This is a load of hogwash. We had close to 70 hours or more into building this. The item is very sturdy as both myself and my farther stood inside the large fort at the same time while putting the roof on, and it held two 225 pound men without a problem. (Can everyone say stress testers!) We had one mistake, which was our fault, we stripped out one bolt which I had to replace as they didn't send extra. If you are considering purchasing this item, do it. Your children will absolutely love it. Just remember to give yourself plenty of time to put this together as the instructions are a bit tricky. Also, keep referring back to the pictures as that will help in understanding the instructions. Take your time to ensure you fully understand the instructions before you do a step and DO NOT get ahead of yourself! Good Luck.

love it !

We bought this last June for when our grandchildren come over. We have 10 grandchildren under the age of 5 and those that are big enough just love it. It's much smaller than it looks in the picture, but it seems really sturdy. My grown sons play on it with the kids. The wood is quite soft, so my grown sons have to be a little bit careful. We are running two water lines to it next summer. One will be placed at the top of the tube slide, so the kids can have a water slide when they want. And the other will run to the little sink. We will put a bar sink in in place of the plastic sink and have a drinking fountain in the little kitchen area.

One weekend for a lifetime of fun!

The project looks daunting, but you can do this! It's recommended to have 2, sometimes 3 people assembling this set but I was able to do it entirely by myself (with the added fun of my 3 year old son running around hiding some of the pieces). There are many time-savers in the construction, like pre-assembled panels. The entire project took me a week (a couple of hours a day after work), but it's something that could be knocked-out in a weekend if you have a helper. The biggest and probably most important job is the sorting. Each piece of wood has a number on it that the instructions refer to when assembling. If you don't take the time to pre-sort, you're gonna have a tough time getting through. Also, the instructions do not tell you when it's time to open up another bag of hardware. It comes with 5-6 bags of various screws, nuts, bolts, lock washers, etc. It just assumes you know to open a new bag on a new project. I took a few liberties on where pieces were installed, I liked one of the panels moved to a different location, but the cedar wood is quality and the little add-ons are great (clock, 2x kitchens, bench seat, telescope, wheel, etc). It's very solid, it includes metal stakes (rebar) that get punched into the ground strategically around the unit and affixed to the base. This thing is hurricane-proof! The most difficult spots are the multi-man jobs: Swing arm, tunnel slide and roofing. But I was able to manage and I'd rate my handyman skills as "slightly above average, but not great". I've seen similar systems sold for 2x as much, this one is most certainly worth your efforts, a weekend for a lifetime of fun!
