Several reviews complained of the smell, however I suspect those people are not used to cooking with ground turkey. I use this brand of turkey (93% lean) all the time. As long as you are using the unopened package by the expiration date, there should be no issues with its safety. I buy in bulk and keep it in the freezer. Ground turkey is a delicious substitute for ground beef and I use it in everything from spaghetti meat sauce to Spicy ground turkey burgers. We love it!

I don't understand what is going on with the bone fragments in this turkey! I've bought jennie-o for many years and only occasionally gotten hard bits in the meals I've made. Months ago I got a bad batch and then didn't buy for a few months, but just bought some again. I made spinach and feta turkey burgers the other day with it and my husband and I were getting them in every bite. We ended up throwing the meal away. I'm now scared to use the other 4# that I have in the freezer that came from the same package. Please fix this issue!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband has gout and i keep meat products to once a month. But for my albóndiga soup (Mexican meatball soup) i love to use ground turkey. It's way better than usual ground beef. The turkey is lean and way more tastier. It got to the point where the husband didn't even know the meatballs were made out of turkey. I had to confess after 8 years since i was away for a weekend and his mom made albóndigas. He said they didn't taste the same. That's why i broke my 8 year secret All i use is lean ground turkey for my recipes like picadillo, tacos, lasagna, just everything taste way better.

My family doesn't really even know I use it instead of ground beef. I love the fact that there is really not grease. I love that it is healthier for you too. The taste is great too. I love making burgers and adding a slice of provelone and a slice of tomato on top. It's delicious.

Keep coming back to this product because we try and stay away from additives and preservatives, and ground turkey is in so many ways better than other options. I came here to review this product and was sad to see that the same issue I've had a few times has happened to others, with small pieces of bones in the meat. We've had the problem in a few packages... some are bone free, but enough have had bones that it makes us question every time we cook it and eat it. Today again I found a piece of bone in my turkey (had mixed it only into pasta sauce) that was small enough to not be noticed while cooking but large enough to hurt to bite down on, about 1-2 mm in length. Again, I love how the product is free of other chemical products, how it cooks, and how it can substitute for beef, but the bones are just super disappointing.

One other thing that makes me choose this product is that when I cook it. It breaks downs like ground beef does. I have tried other brands and they stay more like broken spaghetti noodles. My go to is Tacos, these are my sons fave and happen at least once a week! My household only eats ground beef in hamburger patty form. But if you make sure to dry the meat and add an egg it makes a great patty, and I add ranch seasoning when I mix it. Top with swiss and avocado. My picture I'm adding doesnt show the delish turkey under the toppings. There is preseasoned Jennie-O products but I prefer to do my own seasonings so it is not for me. One thing I dont like is the package used to be 20oz, and the price was about $1.00 cheaper. BUT I still love it, so I will keep buying it!

The price is very affordable and cheaper then beef. It has been a great alternative so that I can still enjoy the foods I love that most people would use beef. I also love the fact of the other turkey products that are as well, especially the hot dogs as I can still have them as a one my favorite foods.
