Almost perfect but a couple of caveats

I love this little labeler. I have been using the PT-2700 for years and still like it, but I wanted something that could sit on my desk ad not be too intrusive. A couple things to note: A 3.5" label produced by the PT-P710BT is a bit longer than a 3.5" label produced by the PT-2700, so I had to adjust the size for a file folder accordingly. Also, not all tape cartridges fit both machines. Only the ones with a green wheel fit both. The ones with a gray wheel don't fit. My only real gripe is that I cannot use a font found on my computer; it apparently can only us a pre-selected list of fonts. The list is long, but unfortunately not the ones I want. Even the Helsinki used on the PT-2700 machine is not available on the PT-P710BT.

I want to label everything now

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The Brother P-Touch Cube Plus is now a staple on my desk, along with all my other important tools needed to run my home office. I`ve always wanted a label maker but never wanted to spend the money on one, because frankly, I wasn`t sure if I would use it enough. When I first got the label maker I immediately loved the look and feel of it. It felt sturdy and has a clean, tech look to it, that fits nicely with my others desk items. The tape cartridge is "old school" like the answering machine tapes, you would use years ago. I wonder if the cartridge itself will break easier because of the style. I haven`t had any issues with it yet, though. Loading the label maker with the different types of tape is easy. You open the maker, and just simply push the cartridge in, and then close the maker. I did have to charge my label maker before I could use it. I tried charging it through my computer, but since I had a screen saver on, it wouldn`t charge unless I was on my computer or at least had my computer on. I ended up charging through an electrical outlet on my wall. One full charge seems to be enough to get me through at least a few weeks. I haven`t lost any power to it yet. It does turn off on it`s on, once you stop using it, so that is a big help. It`s wireless so I download the Brother label maker app, (there are two of them) and was able to connect my maker to my smart phone. It`s as simple as adding a printer, or any other device. I did find that once I stopped using my label maker and I went back a day later to use it, I had to "find" it again on the app, not a big deal really, but it would be nice if my phone/app/maker would have it stored or at least automatically find it when I turn on my maker. Who knows, maybe I can, but I just don`t know how to do it. The app itself, has pre-made labels for you to choose from. It`s as simple as double clicking the label you want to edit. You can even save your labels, but I didn`t find a need for this myself. I had so much fun using my label maker. I`m not creative in any way, so I really liked that there were labels I could pick from. The label maker is so easy to use, that I started to organize and label my important files. I made name tags and made labels for my storage bins for the holidays. I started off with two different types of label tape. I have a clear and black label and a gold label with black lettering. You can choose the length of the label so it will fit properly. The only thing I didn`t like was before a label would print, a tiny square label would print and I felt like that was a waste. I couldn`t figure out how to get that to stop. The label itself is easy to peel and stick to your object. The sticky part of the label is split in the middle, so you bend the label a bit, and pull off the adhesive, and place your label where you want. I did notice that if I had a label that was longer, the label would curl at the ends and would stick together. But I was able to unstick it without ruining the label. These labels stick really well. I`m not worried that they will fall off later or be too sticky that it will leave a residue. I`m so happy with this label maker. It allows me to label things, have my items look clean and organized, and I can make a label in an instant.

Really versatile, apps could be improved

I have used older models of the P-Touch for almost 20 years, and always appreciated the labeling. This newer model (PT-P710BT) is by far the best I have used. I love the compact form factor, the rechargeable battery, and Bluetooth, making it truly portable. Also being able to create the labels on my phone is great. My one wish is that the phone app was less tricky to use, moving label elements around with your finger is kind of imprecise, and takes longer than it should. I wish the app had left/right/up/down buttons that would let me precisely position elements on the label. I’m wondering if the PC app maybe has that functionality, I’ll have to try it. But, overall, I love this P-Touch. Kudos Brother designers!

No Bluetooth with computer

I am not sure when they started making wireless printers, but at least a decade ago. Why is Brother not making the cube wireless for the computer? It's crazy. If your laptop does not have a USB port and you don't want to buy an adapter, don't buy this printer.

Great for Simple Use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The Brother Cube is a great mobile printer since there is no computer required. However, you do need enough space on your smartphone to add the Design and Print app. Luckily, I just bought a new phone so I had ample space.TheCube is pretty light and easy to hold. It stands up on its own vertically and is space-friendly for storage purposes.I love the fact that I can print right from my phone through the app. You do have to charge the Cube initially, but you may disconnect after fully charged. The labels do not stick very well to fabric. I tried to label my son`s backpack and it fell right off. There should be different types of label materials that can stick to all types of material. But the labels stick to paper, folders and hard materials like lunchboxes just fine.Overall, this is a great buy!

A brilliant successor to the old P-touch

I have owned a Brother P-touch label printer for many years. The machine has given impeccable service and is my go-to device. Recently I bought myself a new P-touch Cube Plus. Not because there was anything wrong with the old one, but for my son's residence. Being able to compose labels on my phone is a huge plus. The keyboard on the old device is limited. While I mastered it over the years, the convenience of using my phone is head and shoulders above. Removing the backing to expose the adhesive is better in the new system. Instead of needing to fumble with the edge of the tape, just bending it along its length is much easier and nicer. One oddity that I do not understand is why, when printing a label, the machine cuts off a blank piece of label material about 1/2 inch long. That seems unnecessary and wasteful to me. And the UI for composing labels on my phone could use some improvement. It is a trifle clunky to my taste.

Best PT printer I've had but...

I've owned at least 4 Ptouch label makers and this is the best. Ignore everyone complaining about the wasted one inch precut tape.. The waste sucks, but every last p touch label maker does that so it's pointless to hold that against this one. This one prints twice as fast as all my previous models. Its real easy to carry around unlike the much more expensive E550 that I used to use (I never used the keyboard anyway). My only gripe.. and I have had it with Brother for a while, is this does NOT connect to windows via bluetooth. It only connects to android and apple via bluetooth. I have no idea why they would do this, but at least its a step in the right direction as there used to be no bluetooth at all. Also, the mobile apps are crap compared to the desktop editor but that doesnt stop this from being a better label maker than all the others I have owned.

Add features back

I have an older Brother handheld and it had morfe features like repeating text to wrap around a cable and see from mutiiple angles.. I actulally bought a newe handheld and it also lacks that fedature. So I'm forced to use my old one, though it is showing age and I had to do tricks to print in general as he older one has a cutter problem with the initial cut.

Vertical margins are too wide and too wasteful

I can't imagine what the designers of this and pretty much every other current-generation PTouch printer are thinking: the print head is only 19mm high, which means it cannot take full advantage of the 24mm tape; a good 1/4 of the tape width is wasted. Worse, the software forces this (having vertical margins that are 1/8th the width of the tape above and below the printable area) for all tape widths. I understand that there must be tape in front of each pixel of the printhead to carry away the heat, otherwise the pixel may burn out, but really, only using 75% of the area is wasteful.

Perfect Little Label Maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. As a work-at-home, homeschooling mom, things can get a bit hectic. To make myself feel at least a little sane, I like putting labels on things to give our home some semblance of cohesiveness. I was in the market for a new label maker after my old one gave out and was excited to give this one a try.The size is absolutely perfect. I can stick it in a drawer when not in use, or just leave it out on a countertop somewhere because it`s small, unobtrusive and kind of stylish! The shape also ensures that it doesn`t tip over and it feels sturdy. I don`t think it would break if I accidentally dropped it once or twice, although I don`t want to put my theory to the test! My kids love grabbing it for me and watching labels slide out of the slot.Instructions were super easy. Downloading the app went without a hitch, and it`s very easy to learn. The time it took to open the box and get to printing was about five minutes. Five minutes after getting this new-to-me label maker, I was easily creating new labels. Two things I`d improve:1. Quality of images on the labels. Just for fun, I tried putting a picture of my husband on a label. It didn`t turn out so well. Nothing but a few pixels. Not a big deal, but the option of adding high-quality photos would be nice.2. Include two different types of label tape in the box. I`d love to try out a different color or material, not just inititally be stuck with black and white.Overall, I am very happy with my new label maker and am glad to have it.
