It uses a bright blue light to attract the bugs. All you need is an outlet. It is tall but it can rotate to be horizontal instead of vertical.

At night, its bluish glow provides subtle illumination for the area where it is placed; besides, with the lights off, insects fly straight toward the UV/blue glow. Its curved shield hides the trapped insects, which is a very important feature. Replacing the cartridge is quick and easy—you simply remove the plastic tab without having to touch any sticky parts. I recommend getting one; you won't regret it.

I like that it runs 24/7 using blue and UV light to attract flying bugs and the sticky cartridge traps them without having to swat flies or deal with bug spray. It’s quiet, easy to plug in and I was surprised by how many gnats it catches. It’s simple and low maintenance. Definitely worth trying if you’re tired of annoying insects that somehow seem to get inside every summer.

This has no noise (no zapping), no chemical smells, and is safe to use around kids and animals unlike many other insect repellants.
