As A Smoke Alarm Collector, I wanted to give my input on the Kidde 10SDR Smoke Alarm. First of all, it’s only 4 inches in diameter! This is a really good trait of this alarm for people who don’t want the eyesore of 5 inch alarms. Second, it features Kidde’s DETECT Technology, which detects up to 25% faster than legacy models, while reducing those annoying cooking nuisance alarms by using a Multi-Criteria Optical (MCO) Firmware-Enhanced Photoelectric Sensor to measure smoke particles to determine a threat, or a false alarm. Third, it uses convenient, easy to buy AA Batteries, compared to more expensive 9V batteries. Now, it’s performance. Most People on Influenster don’t have the equipment necessary to properly test it. When I sprayed Smoke Centurion directly from the front of the unit, it alarmed faster than your typical Ionization Smoke Alarm, and the Hush feature wasn’t stubborn, and silenced on the first attempt. However, there’s a few problems… First, it can’t fit on the legacy Kidde i9040 Mounting Bracket, meaning you have to go through the hassle of swapping out the Mounting Bracket when replacing. Second, it went off to a… humidifier? That’s already going to be VERY problematic for homeowners… and there’s no Bug Grille to protect from dust or insects. Third when it dropped off my bed, the cover came off! Thankfully, it’s a simple Snap-Together design, and can be reassembled. Overall it’s a decent choice, but just remember to vacuum or use compressed air around the vents of the Alarm, and don’t put a humidifier too close to it!

Bought in July, now September. Started malfunctioning last month by alarming at odd times. Scares the crap out of us and our dogs. Just now watching TV and it alarmed again and it’s above me where I’m sitting. I’ve replaced the batteries twice thinking that might be it, nope! Will buy another brand and never a Kiddie brand again. I don’t trust this to even alarm properly if I did have a fire! If you like a smoke alarm that will scare you to death randomly, then this one’s for you! I’m done with this POC brand!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Feels well made, everything works as it should. Batteries went in easily, the installation screws worked well, it was easy to install. It has the normal sound level as other products like this.

Installed 5 months ago and now one of them is randomly going off when there is no reason. Safety demands no false alarms that desensitize the occupants of a home. I see this is a common problem with this model. Kidde should recall this model.

Kidde is the worst brand. Whoever designed this should be ashamed. How can a product be so flawed that it wakes people in the middle of the night for no reason? For God sake, never buy this product. So irritation!
