[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I researched as many video doorbells as I could and settled on two. The Google Nest and Ring. I decided to go with Google Nest as it works seamlessly with Google Voice commands, etc. But that's not the main reason. While most video doorbells all have roughly the same or similar features, I prefer the Google Nest because it can, over time, learn to differentiate between people and packages, and the audio quality if I wanted to talk to someone at the door is pretty much the best over ALL doorbells. This one is pretty much the same as the popular Nest Hello doorbell with the main exception being that it's battery operated, whereas the original one was hardwired. You can obviously hardwire this one to be able to utilize your existing doorbell chime though. Wiring it that way will provide a small "trickle" charge so your battery lasts a bit longer, but it doesn't receive it's power through the wiring. It was super easy to install and comes with everything you need. While it's suggested for safety reasons that you shut off power to your doorbell while installing, you generally don't really need to as the voltage is extremely low. However, depending on the age of your house and wiring, it'd probably be best if you did shut off power while installing as you never know if there's faulty wiring that could potentially electrocute you. Overall, this is a great doorbell. One of the best, if not THE best on the market right now. And it looks a lot cooler than most of the competitors too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Nest Doorbell Battery does the job with little fuss. I got the matte white model and the style can be best described as minimalist. A round black camera at the top and a white round button at the bottom of a slab that is about half the width of 6.6" smart phone and just about as tall as the smart phone. Installation is straight forward and quite simple, at least the way I had it installed. I have an existing wired doorbell with a transformer already in place. Given this setup, my PHYSICAL install process was as simple as disconnecting the existing door bell button at the front door and connecting the the two wires to the Nest Doorbell. Ofcourse, you need to screw the doorbell to the door frame or wall or whereever you want to physically set the door bell. Given its size, it would be smart to check out first where you are comfortable installing it and how you will place it. Google provides everything you need to install including needed screws, a base plate and a wedge to help angle the camera if needed. Before any of the physical installation is performed, you will need to download the Google Home app onto your phone and scan the QR code that comes with the doorbell to set it up with your existing wifi connection and your smartphone. It is a good idea to physically place the Nest Doorbell in the location you will install it and confirm that you have a good wifi signal and that video quality is good. The benefit of the wired connection is that the app can directly display live video without needing to perform an extra click to get the video started. There are some questions that I could not figure out such as how do I change the doorbell to a non-wired connection. To do this, do I need delete the door bell from my app and redo the setup or is there an option to modify? I could not find anything in the app that would let me do this but may be I just need to dig into the details more. For my setup, the Nest doorbell works as before i.e. someone presses the doorbell button and my existing door bell chime goes off. The additions now are a camera to view who is at the door without needing to get to the door, an audio channel to speak with the person without having to go to the door and other smarts that come with the phone app integration. I am not sure how it works with an app only option i.e. if there is a lag from when the button is pressed to when the phone alert showsup. In my simulated trials, the alerts appeared immedately with little to no lag. Note that night view is black and white and gets to about 6 feet for decent views. Beyond that, you only get darkness. I would love for it to integrate to my Alexa Echo Show but that is not possible today. I understand that smoething is in the works for interoperability amongst smart devices - fingers crossed and hoping the future gets here fast! I have yet to explore the rich set of features and options such as alert zones, etc. Overall, an excellent doorbell that is easy to install and get going. The one concern I have is how the doorbell wll handle the Texas summer heat. the specs call for operating at less than 104 degrees or less and I know that there will be days when the temperatures will be higher. Plus my front door faces west which means direct sunlight. For now, the winter sun is not a problem as the weather is cool and no direct sunlight is on the door bell.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This google Nest Doorbell works really well! It is easy to install and super easy to use. Set up was really easy. It is user friendly,the app is very easy to maneuver. The picture is clear. I like that it can recognize people and things. (like a package or animal) Night vision works well.The battery seems to last a while,it tells you what percent it has or it can show you how many weeks of battery life it has left. I would recommend this to anyone&everyone. It's a pretty amazing device ,the technology is just amazing!

I have another camera system set up, but I wanted another doorbell camera for my back door (which gets used more then front door) I do like the nest doorbell for the ease of setting it up. It has a great camera quality, day and night vision is nice and clear! What I don't like about it is it doesn't have a huge range of view on it. While it does show the step area and is decent view range, it isn't quite as large a view as I would have liked. Another issue I am having is. It doesn't send alerts to my phone when someone is there. So I'm not sure if I am just not finding the proper setting for that or if it just isn't set to send alerts when someone is in the range of motion for it.

The app for my smart phone was easy to download and easy to navigate.it has a clean and clear picture that covers a great deal of landscape. I really like the video and plan to add to it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went ahead and ordered the 18 volt plug adapter just in case batteries went bad, I want recordings working. The installation was pretty easy just the usual synch up with my Alexa system took a little bit. We haven't had anyone deliver packages yet or use doorbell, but we know he main benefit is when we aren't here we have video of people if from of door and that is added value with this technology. I received this item a a promotional item to review and look forward to using it.

i really love it. i live in an apartment and it was easily installed. great video even at night. living downstairs and in the front of the building everyone passes my door. and i see some of my neighbors are really active. so i don't think the battery will last 2 months maybe 2 weeks. it identifies faces and you can talk through it to visitors signed up for the service too. i want the video

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My property has a 'set in' porch which limits my field of view with where my wiring was installed for my doorbell. I very much like the convenience to be able to mount this doorbell wherever I desire. This product allows me to receive more consistent notifications of a person whereas the prior product I used often wouldn't recognize or provide notification at all. Additionally, I enjoy that the doorbell does not need a physical chime. So for new parents that would prefer a doorbell that doesn't audibly 'chime,' this is a good solution. It would be great for homes/use cases that may not have a physical chime. However, I do wish I was able to play a chime on a smart home speaker other than a Google product. The product design is attractive. I have the all-white product (Snow as the manufacturer calls it) and the body design, camera, and case are well integrated. The setup was very simple. After downloading the Google Home app, I didn't need to reference any instructions. I LOVE that the product uses a USB-C connector. The mounting bracket is required for the camera to work, so don't lose or damage that part. The product came 75% charged, and it only took 90 minutes to charge the rest of the way. I have other Nest products but hadn't used the Google Home app previously. I believe the additional attention the Google Home app receives makes that app superior to Nest and I was pleasantly surprised to be able to see my other Nest products in the Google Home app.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this this doorbell! I love how pressing the button feels, and the camera is clear and sharp. It recognizes faces and packages, even the delivery people. However, it has some glaring issues I would deem as problematic. First, as my title suggests, there is no way this thing is not getting stolen. It barely hangs on to this thin piece of metal that doesn't secure it at all. All someone would have to do, and WILL do, is walk up and pluck it off the house, put it in their pocket, and leave. I could watch them do that too I assume. However, after they get a certain distance away from my Wi-Fi they are gone with my doorbell. I close the door too hard, and it falls. Which coincidentally, is my next point. It doesn't take much to shake it loose, but on the gulf coast of Texas, this thing will probably get plucked off the house by some hurricane force wind and fly away before Christmas. Next, you need a Google Nest Mini or Google speaker to hear it. I did not think about it before I got it, but I figured it came with a speaker to ding-dong. The most confusing part for me is that it is not displayed like the Nest cameras in the Nest App. I have Nest cameras that I can see on the Nest app, obviously, however the Nest doorbell is not on the Nest app. It is on the Google Home app. I bet they change that though because that makes no sense. It is so close to being amazing, yet it just misses the mark in a lot of ways.

It connects with my phone so I can see whoever shows up at my door with a very clear picture on my phone. I gave it 4 stars because you need a little computer/phone savvy, but it was well worth it.
