- 5 out of 5 stars review8/6/2016I have been employed by Ford dealer for many years and have experience with many different tire brands. Michelin tires have always been the best built tires in my experience. The initial quality is very consistent.Today I installed 4 MICHELIN® Defender® LTX® M/S 245/65R17 tires on my 2008 Ford Explorer. I used Hunter GSP9700 balancer. All tires had Road Force Measurement less than 11 lbs. By moving tires on the rim, I managed to drop Road Force Measurements to 2 lbs,9 lbs, 4 lbs and 8 lbs and matched front tires to 0 lbs Net Pull. And this is pretty heavy truck tire. The Road Force limit for P-metric and Euro-metric tires is 26 lbs.
Well made tire
The MechanicOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/13/2013These tires were purchased for daily commuting in our Honda Pilot. The m/s's ride and handle better than any other light truck tire on the market. The only downside to these tires is the price. As in most other cases, you get what you pay for. I am very happy with them and will purchase another set when these need to be replaced.
Best light truck tire on the market!
AhOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 1 out of 5 stars review10/6/2020These are the worst tires I have ever owned. I have another set on my Tacoma which I bought a couple of year’s ago. Those were the best tire I have owned. This new version vibrates and shakes horrible between 65-75 miles sn hour. I had them rebalanced which did nothing. Regret the day I bought these. I was always a Michelin guy but I am rethinking that now.
Now I know how Fred Flinstone felt

They perform extremely well in both rain and snow here in western Wa. where moutain highways and roads get deluged with both. I have used these tires while also living in the heat of Florida as well as the radical whether variations of Michigan. The heavily worn/noisy roads of western Washington have reduced the safe life of these tires to about 60-65,000 miles which is still more than double of most other tires here in wa. Michlin LTX M/S are the only tires I trust.

In 2005, purchased a new Motorhome with the Michelin LTX m/s tires on it. Best tires I've ever had on an R/V. Trouble-free, smooth, quiet and tough tires. Never a concern or worry while driving with a set of these tires under you!

GibberOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 3 out of 5 stars review9/15/2025This is my second set and by far these are less then great, with only 36,000 miles on them they slip (hydroplane) when there is a little water on the road and they slip at start up even on dry roads. I have them rotated every 5,000 miles, I check and correct tire pressure every 30 days, I am wondering if the rubber is now a harder substance, hopefully they make it to 70,000 miles
Less then perfect

- 5 out of 5 stars review8/8/2013This is the second set of these tires on my SUV. the first set outlasted mileage rating for the tires. So far this set is looking like they will do the same. With scheduled reatation and balance these tires perform great and the ride is unmatched. I am a michelin man 100%. You will never buy anything other than michelin once you ride on a set.
Second set would'nt buy anything else
yukon1Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/13/2010The LTX is by far the best tires I have ever owned. My first set of LTX was bought used from A friend I worked with and when I bought the tires they had 50,000 miles on them and still looked new. I put another 100,000 miles on them!!! Thats right I got 150,000 miles out of one set of tires and they still have 1/4 inch deep tread and I'm still using them on and old project truck. The only reason I changed the tires was due to age and some weather cracks on side walls other wise I would still have them on the truck and I'm willing to bet I could get 200,000 miles out of them. Needless to say I purchased a new set of the LTX for the old truck also I brought a set of LTX for my full size van. I have a set of Michelin on my car and as soon as I ...

cleteOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/19/2012These tires came new on my 2009 Honda Pilot - I put 95,000 worry free miles on the original set. I just bought 4 new ones this week and hope to have similar results. Great ride, great wear (with faithful rotation), low road noise and never any vibrations or flats. I really like these tires.
Great All Purpose Tire
JaymzOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/11/2021I purchased the Michelin’s for my Silverado used to travel to-and-from New England and Colorado. The trip is 2,100 miles each way and then we alternate between paved and gravel roads in CO. The tires give a smooth and comfortable ride traveling cross country. When in CO, they are rugged enough to provide good traction on gravel and in the mud. Yet they are versatile enough to corner beautifully on the paved mountain roads. Not my first set of Michelins; certainly not my last. In fact we have similar Michelins on our other cars.
Cross Country and a summer in Colorado!
COfishermanOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/5/2019My mom is and over the road truck driver delivering camper trailers all over the country. Her 2008 Silverado 3500HD has nearly 550,000 miles on it. She is on her third set of Michelin - Michelin Defender LTX M/S. 3 Sets of 6 tires per set(18 tires) none of them have ever blown out. The least amount of miles she has gotten out of a set is 103,000 miles the most was 120,000 miles on the last set. These things perform and are well worth the investment.
These are the best tires for the money!!!
jl12122000Originally posted onmichelinman.comConsumer CareThanks for the awesome review, jl12122000! Michelin customers ROCK! - 5 out of 5 stars review10/20/2022This is my second set of Michelin defenders. I got approx. 65000 miles on first set easily. I liked them so much I replaced them with another. Great in snow or wet conditions. Low road noise. Keep rotating these tires every oil change and you’ll never have any problems with wearing.
Michelin defender
Rjs617Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/26/2017I bought the Defender LTX 265/70R16 for a 2005 Toyota 4Runner to replace the LTX M/S2 that had 72,000 miles. I found the newer Defender LTX quieter than I expected and quieter than the older design LTX M/S2. I was not expecting that from a few of the reviews which indicated noise. All I hear now are wind noise, or engine noise if I accelerate, no tire noise. I am wondering if tire balance or other issues caused some reviewers to experience noise. I tested my new Defender LTX at all speeds up to 70 mph and especially in the 65 - 68 mph range where I typically see a balance issue the most if there is one, and these are well balanced tires.
Quiet tire for me
BillOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/11/2010I've been a Michelin loyalist since 1985. My latest set of LTX M/S on my SUV have been and still are a great ride. I am amazed at how well these tires perform, and I get more than the average rated MPG for my SUV which I do credit the tires, because it is the only thing that is not factory on my vehicle. There is no doubt for me that my next set of tires will be Michelins.

YAHSELOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/26/2013Tires wear excellent. Side walls look brand new. 68k and still tread life. Better to spend the dollars on a superior tire than save a dollar on less expensive tire that does not even compare. Ridgeline ride is great. Handles very smooth. Braking is good. Looking at moving up to Latitude for our next set of Michelin Tires. Have Michelin tires on our Honda Civic and if I can find tires we will put them on our Goldwing. Michelin makes great tires that last.
Great Tire!
Honda100Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 4 out of 5 stars review11/14/2010I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 club cab and still have the original tires on it. I have been rotating them as well as replacing them for winter driving with a more aggressive winter tire. I am truly impressed with the tread wear as it seems I will have many more years to keep these tires for my truck. I have 113,500 miles on my truck with approx. 75,000 on these tires. I am also impressed that there are no signs of weathering or checking in the sidewalls. Great job on the compounds used and or the quality of the rubber.

griff2Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/12/2010I took delivery of a new 2004 Chev Tahoe 4WD. Before I picked it up I paid the difference to upgrade to a set of Michelin LTX's. This is not my first time on this model of tire and auto. 89,000 miles later I went back for a new set. The ride even as they get some miles on them is great. They always rebalance beautifully. I'll go for Michelins for my ZO6 Corvette when I wear out the original tires it came with.

Mikey13Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/12/2010I read about these tires, and that they were of a harder rubber....I wanted a tire that would last, but accepted the rougher ride. These were on my 2000 Ford Ranger, and lasted longer than any tire I had previously owned. In the rain and light snow ther performed very well, enabling me to get uphill to my house!

Mustang60Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/13/2013The tires are great. They give me the security I need when driving on interstate highways. My original tires were the Latitude Sport and when I went to purchase them the store I purchased from only had three in stock, so they talked me into the LTX M/S. I have been very pleased with the LTX M/S
Very Good
