- 1 out of 5 stars review7/19/2012Have had 7 LTX-MS2 tires replaced in the last year. Failures ranged from blowout at freeway speeds due to tread separation, sidewall puncture, tread penetration thru the belts by virtually anything. The 6th was a sudden sidewall failure and upon changing the tire noticed that the rip was about 4 inches long but the interesting part was the sidewall only had ONE belt--not two like printed on the tire. Previously ran 2 sets of Michelin tires over 100,000 miles each with NO failures.

Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/21/2018Only now am I forced to replace the front tires, and that's primarily due to my AWD 4Runner's tendency to abuse the front rubber (and a September registration renewal). Rear tires have 15K+ miles of tread remaining, and this is from a guy who pays little attention to air pressures. Michelin has never disappointed me, and even though there are less expensive options, they are also cheaper in almost every respect. My next purchase will be another set of Defenders, without question.

I've really liked their performance over these years with the gentle driving I do, mostly city -short distance to work, errands, and one trip to Colorado. However, I've only driven 38,000 miles thus far and am being told I need to replace due to tread wear. I understand the recommended replacement time period, but it seems the tread should have lasted longer than this. Am I missing something?

I experienced one flat tire from a nail when the tires were new. At 50,000 miles, I asked for Michelin LTX. This was a good choice. The Michelins were driven for 110,000 miles will no problems. The tires had finally worn to the wear indicators when I discovered a 1/2" screw sticking in the tire. I removed the screw, but there was no leak. I believe I could have driven another 10,000 miles before I would have been into the wear indicators. I have never had another set to tires to match the performance of the Michelins. The tires always drove straight and worn evenly. I am very pleased with this brand and these are the reasons I purchased another se...

I've bought many sets of Michelin over the years and they've all stood up well for distance driving and local driving. I live in the NC mountains, so they really have to grip a lot of curbs--and they do grip. Pay the extra; it's worth it!

They are exposed daily to a very wide vareity of road conditions and hazards and never fail. The ride is remarkably smooth. A similar set of LTX on my wife's Chevy SUV has nearly 90,000 miles with a stunning amount of tread remaining and not one problem.

These tires handle much better and real quiet when cruising on the highway. Michelin tires have been on many of my vehicles over the years because they are great tires and you get your moneys worth from they.

The Jeep had set of Michelin tires which we loved the ride and the durability. We visited a local retail shop and they had sold out of the Michelin for that size car. The salesman recommended several high quality tires that he had in stock as an alternative. After considering his pitch, I simply said "If it's not a Michelin, I am not interested." Interestingly the saleman replied, "I think you are right. No question, Michelin is the best tire." Last set of tires had 75,000 miles and looked like they were new. Only replaced due to age. Only use Michelin. Have tried all the major brands, all take back seat to Michelin. No comparison. Never a problem, would recommend Michelin 100%. Best of the best.

We decided.to go with Micheline tires, and never look back, the truck has 240k mi. and I'm about to get another set of them in the next 6 mo. There is our expedition (2003) it was used when we got it, with about 10K mi. Same there, Michelin's all around, it has 199k mi.

Been working at same place same drive path for 25 years. Had the new tires taken off and new Michelins put on. They even road quieter. I won't do it again. Flat tires are a pain to deal with especially when it's freezing out.
Always used Michelin, the I went cheap once.

I'm looking for new ones now before winter and I'm having a hard time finding them in my area. Why aren't people stocking what really works. I thought about trading it in and the 2 dealers that looked at them said those aren't the orig. when I said yes they are their comment was that's one for the record book! I live on a farm in SNOW country and they are by far the best, all around, worth the money tire ever made!!!

Driving around the city or on the highway very comfortable. reat traction and gas mileage has been outstanding. 20 mpg on the highway! Would definitely buy these again. Great in the rain and wet locations and in the snow with 4x4. I get very good mileage fro these tires easy 70K miles. Have not done too much off road with these so I can't comment.

One time, I switched to a competitor's tire because it was rated higher in braking and in wet traction. That competitor's tire was rated for 60,000 miles and at 25,000 miles they had to be replaced due to wear. I have consistently gotten 60,000 miles out of a set of Michelin LTX's with rotations and balancing every 6,000-9,000 miles. There is no other tire manufacturer making a tire that is comparable to the LTX in longevity. The only area the LTX is slightly weak would be in muddy conditions, although driving in muddy condition is not an everyday occurrence. I will continue t...

I now have 112,000 miles on these tires and there is still tread left. I will be getting new ones before long, but what is ironic, is that the lady that I purchased the Suburban from said that the reason she was selling it was because it wore out tires so quickly. I'm sure that a lot of the longivity can be attributed to driving habits, but the Michelin tires have performed exceptionally as well.
