I started drinking this during the pandemic after being a loyal G12 drinker for a lot of years. I did taste tests with G12, G14, G15, G18 and G21. I actually like the 14 better than any of them (although lets face it, the 21 is pretty great, but I reserve that for very special occasions). Many bars and restaurants only have the 12, and I’m fine with that, but I buy 14 for my home.

We bought this wonderful 14 year old last year and just opened it this week. I poured a wee dram in a Glenlivet glass made for nosing. Very pleasant on the nose mellowed by sherry and cognac barrels. The honey on the tongue mellows quickly on the sides of the tongue and finishes softly. It is not a very long finish but leaves one ready to repeat the process. This is a highly recommended single malt.

I never cared for Scotch but admittedly I had never had top shelf. A friend brought over a bottle of "14" at Thanksgiving and I tried it and liked it. Then my wife got me a bottle of "14" for Christmas and I'm hooked. And since no one else in the house likes it, it's mine, all mine!

While I would never turn away the everyday 12 y/o Glenlivet, this is a fantastic choice for a special ocassion. If there is a smoother finishing single malt I have not yet found it. 3 generations of Scotch drinkers in my family and this is the by far all of our favorites, you will not be disappointed.

Sipping: Smooth and easy, like a stream on a calm day. The sweetness from the nose carries over, with honey and apples leading the charge. There's a little peppery spice on the tongue, but it's more of a suggestion than a punch in the face. The finish isn't super long, but it leaves a pleasant oaky aftertaste. Overall: This is great for a beginner. Easy to drink, and it's got a nice honeyed sweetness.
