[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was the first time trying Robert Mondavi Private Selection Rum Barrel-Aged Merlot . I found the color a nice deep red with a nice fruit aroma. The flavor was smooth, a bit tart yet with a sweet finish. I paired this wine with Aged Gouda, Asiago as well as Salami, Pepperoni and Rosemary Olive Oil Crackers. I will surely be adding this wine to my personal collection to serve at brunch and get togethers. I highly recommend this wine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly, I'm really new to wine and don't really drink alcohol very often, so I'm still acquiring the taste of alcohols/wines. I was excited about the Rum Barrel-Aged Merlot the most because my favorite alcohol is Malibu coconut rum. That being said, it wasn't really my favorite of the wine series. I'm pretty ignorant to wine tasting, but I could taste a bit of the plum and blueberry notes told about in the informational pairing suggestions, the wine was just overall a little too strong for my personal taste. It did taste better with dark chocolate, though! The dark chocolate and wine complimented each other well.

This is great with red meats for dinner or just alone to enjoy with a nice movie. There is a rich blueberry flavor to it as well as a hint of rum and coconut. I just love sitting back and enjoying the smooth flavor of this wine.

The rum flavor was somewhat overpowering which muted the dark fruit flavors. It gives off an aroma of oak and coconut. It might have been better if it had a lower alcohol content.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Rum Barrel-Aged Merlot was quite the winner for most of my guest, the smooth but dry taste won people over, it was paired with club sandwiches and cheese and crackers for a great salty dry combination. The aroma was great you could almost smell the process that it took to create it. I’d recommend trying this wine and having some cheese and crackers as your hors d’oeuvres on the side. You can also try pairing with fruit too cuts the dryness

You can really taste the respective spirits (rye, bourbon and rum) in each of the wines. Moreover, it turns out that your favorite spirits will probably correspond to your favorite wine in this collection. I love rum, and my favorite barrel-aged wine turned out to be the Rum-barrel aged merlot. It is very crisp, but not overpowering, and goes down really smooth with no aftertaste. I can envision it blending with just about any food. So the Merlot is definitely the "utility player" in this collection. In terms of quality and overall flavor, this is one of the best red wines I have ever had.

The Merlot had a good character and the flavor was rich and sweet. I recommend this wine for upcoming holiday parties. I will be purchasing this Rum Barrel-Aged Merlot for its unique taste and to share with even more people.
