Portable replacement for a standby

No major loads put on it yet, but so far so good on this generator. Starts easy, not too loud. Nice that it came with a start up kit, wheels, and a handle which seems to be extras on other brands. Idle control when running with no load would be nice, but it wasn't a deal killer. I like the steel fuel tank and the quality of the fuel shot off valve. Went with the portable unit with manual transfer switch when the old standby failed. Will be nice to have it in the garage, out the elements, ready to go when when needed.

Bad Bad Bad

F...ing garbage. Do not buy. Runs rough if it starts. Worst generator I've ever had. I would say used but can't hardly use it. Bought new. Was garbage right out of the box. Should have returned. Spen up and get a Honda. This thing is junk

Works nice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Look like it's pretty easy to maintain. The noise level isn't too bad. I will add a video later of that. It is heavy and once you get the wheels on in the handles, it makes it a whole lot easier to move around, but you still know you're moving something because it is heavy. It works very nice. I really can't say how it's going to hold up. I can update that later, but it looks like it's made very well and at any time you have any problems I don't know what's going on. It has a one 800 number for you to call and they will help you out and I love that. It has a five year warranty And that it runs off of propane ,natural gas or gasoline. And this is the perfect time for us to have a generator with the electric going on and off with all the storms and everything. I am so happy with this.

Didn't even get a chance to use it/ it failed.

I bought this new generator new in the box for our deer camp. We unboxed it and added the oil and clean gasoline and started it. It was gushing gas out of the carb so we had to shut it down. When we called Menards to bring it back for an exchange they said that they don't take them back and we had to bring it to a certified repair shop that was 75 miles away from our camp. Needless to say, we didn't have a generator for deer season because the repair shop was booked. When I picked it up the owner said that the carb was full of gunk and that he couldn't even charge Generac for the repair because it was a fuel issue. how could that be possible when it was brand new out of the box? I am very disappointed that we have a generator that could be a lemon and the repair shop didn't get paid!

Overall, very good quality and features.

Just bought this a month ago and haven't had the need to use it yet. But I did have to assemble the handle, wheels, add oil and gas and start it. My review is solely based on that. The wheels were relatively easy to assemble, keeping in mind that the machine is heavy and you will need to lift it on blocks, or use a helper. They give you a perfectly shaped funnel to add the oil. Don't lose it. The handles are easy to install and conveniently fold down when not in use. They make it very easy to roll around on the two wheels. You also need to connect the battery wires, which they don't explain very well. Remember Red is positive, Black is negative. My only gripe is with the gas tank cover, though. It is very large, and very low profile, and it is in a sunken area of the tank. It is very difficult to get a grip on it to remove as it is also very tight. Why did they make it like this? I've never had any machine have a cap like this. It does have a convenient fuel level bubble. The gas tank is 8 gallons, not just 5 like my older model. It is rated at a continues 8KW, although the 240V 4-prong cable that connects to the breaker panel is only capable of carrying 7.2KW. You need to use the 2 120V outlets to get a total of 8KW. Keep in mind that the battery does not get recharged by running the engine. You have to use the included wall charger. Although, a single start is not going to use much power, so you don't need to worry too much about always keeping the wall charger connected. But definitely charge it fully when it is new. It has picture-based instructions on the frame. But they aren't very useful as they pictures are too small to figure out what they are saying. Remember to turn the fuel shutoff to ON and set the choke to ON when starting it.

Needs to be in a ventilated area

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far energy efficient for 8 hours of work used it for power tool battery charge, lights and AC unit. Noise level is ok easy to move around and handle.

Great Generator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this item for free from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. This is an awesome generator! I love that it has wheels, this adds a lot of portability. I also love that you can power it with gasoline or propane, which is super versatile. It provides a lot of power, which gives me a lot of peace of mind.

Battery charger

I have had this unit for three years now and fortunately have not needed it......yet. I do maintain it regularly and it seems to run well One question......is there a specific position that the start switch should be in when the generator is stored and the battery is charging (supposedly)..? The push start will not work any time that I try to start it....I always have to resort to the pull start. This will be hard for my wife if I am at work when we lose power.....one of the reasons I chose this unit. I store it with the battery charger plugged in as recommended but the battery never has enough to start the unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Outstanding Performance

I bought 3 years ago and used it this past 3 days straight with no issues. I ran 3 refrigerators, all the lights in the house, garage door openers, electric heater, coffee pot, and toaster over. Really impressed with the power output. Plus the tank is fairly big, and last a long time once topped off. Only con is that it is really loud.

Great emergency power for necessities

I've been very happy with this generator. I set it up as soon as I brought it home because I wanted to ensure it didn't have any issues. It started right up and produced power. I drained the fuel and put it in the garage. I use the generator box as a cover so other than a few disrespectful spiders it looks brand new. I've only had to use it twice in the two years I've owned it and both times it fired right up, as soon as I remembered to turn the power switch on. We used it to power the refrigerator, tv, satellite receiver, and a light. As expected, it had no problem powering those. As for the sound, I don't really consider it quiet. I put it about 20 ft from the house under a shelter, ran extension cables through the window, put a towel in the window to seal out airflow and some noise. We can easily hear it in the house even over the tv at normal levels. I wouldn't consider it loud but it's much louder than the small generators I've seen used for tailgating. I'm not trying to compare the two. I'm just trying to give you a frame of reference. It wouldn't keep me from buying another one if I needed it. I don't know the limits of this generator but if you want to have power available for the basics when there's an outage, I believe this will work for most people.
