One word to describe this camera system, NIGHTMARE
This camera system was a nightmare. After wasting a whole weekend trying to figure how to wire 3 of the cameras outside the house to the inside where the DVR is, we finally got it done. We have 3 more cameras not in use due to the wiring not being able to reach our backyard where we really needed the security. After 3 weeks of being set up the DVR would no longer record events. So everytime the cameras were alreted we couldn't go back to our phone app or DVR to see what the cause was. The DVR ended up saying broken in the storage tab of the DVR. After contacting the website and chatting with someone to help they had me reboot the system several times with no conclusion. They requested a new DVR to be sent to us and after 5 days of back and forth emails finally a confirmation message came through. But, lol they said we had to send the DVR back to them so they could fix it and sent a shipping label along with the message. At this point I'm so frustrated.
1. So, however long thats going to take to ship, fix and or replace, ship back my family and I will be unable to feel secured in our own home without even being able to view any cameras.
2. Why would I send the DVR back before receiving a new one.
3. They were going to try and fix the already broken DVR and give us back the same one. Are you kidding me? So in 1 to 2 years it can happen again and then it wont be under warranty and we will have to buy a new one. I dont think so.
Do yourself a favor and do not buy any kind of night owl products. The customer service is a joke. You can only chat online with a representative. These caneras are difficult to set up, especiallythe wired ones. The quality of the cameras it self is cheap easy to break plastic. The picture quality is not the worst but also nothing close to good. My $50 Gennie Door Bell camera had a better picture quality then these crap cameras.
The camera lights go on and off whenever they want to. You cant set the sensitivity of the cameras from the app so, if you have it on medium or high they go off every second for every spec of dust coming into the cameras view! When you finally have someone in your yard that you dont recognize it literally doesn't capture whats going on. You just see a blur and half of the captured video doesnt even capture the person! There is a terrible lag time between the capture as well and this is what causes that. YOU CAN'T HEAR SOUND THROUGH THE CAMERAS. what kind of joke is that.
Please, if your looking for a good security camera system look else where. This product is an absolute nightmare, joke, trash, garbage system that Sam's Club needs to take off their shelves immediately. I'm taking these back ASAP and going with another brand.
SMH!

We are sorry to hear you had such a poor experience with your new product. However, your review is somewhat misleading and we wish to address a few of your points. 1) The cameras with this kit include 60 ft. cables to connect them to the DVR. However, you can go up to 160 ft. We sell cable extensions on our sales site that can easily be added to your existing cabling to push a camera further out. Each customer has a different setup. If you have a few cameras that need additional cabling to reach the DVR, we have them available for purchase. 2) Our tech support team does the best they can to troubleshoot with customers over the phone or live chat (both of which are options). So you saying online chat is all that is available is blatantly false. 3) You are correct regrading the warranty claim for our recorders. We pay for shipping both ways. But we do require the customer send the recorder in so our experienced tech team can examine the unit to see what the issue is. Oftentimes, the issue is related to a setting or there is no issue at all with the recorder. If the recorder can be repaired under warranty it will be and will be quickly shipped back out. If the unit cannot be repaired then it will be replaced. That is how our warranty system works when it comes to our recorders. They are very technical pieces of equipment and often our team can quickly fix a setting or reboot the recorder and the issue, if one is present, is eliminated. 4) The spotlights go off when motion is detected, hence why we call them motion-activated spotlights. If you desire, you can easily disable the spotlight for one or more cameras and they will no longer activate when motion is detected. 5) Lastly, you are correct, a wired system is not for everyone and running the cabling can be hard for some people to achieve. We also sell wireless and wire free systems for customers who face that limitation. We are sorry for any confusion that occurred and for the experience you had. But we do not feel your review is an accurate depiction of our product or support. We wish we had been able to better work with you to assist and wish you well. Thank you.
