spotlights are great!

WOW! Awesome buy! I had the installer put all 8 cameras inside and outside around my house. I love the feature on the app where you can shut off the spotlights because I really didn't want the lights in my house but absolutely wanted them on all outdoor cameras! The lights are super bright which I love so it's like a deterrent for anyone who comes on my property!

Save your Money and Time !

Let me start by saying this is a real review not one of those fake promotional reviews. I was excited when I made this purchase .The night owl Video Security System had many promises in till I set up the system which that part was easy to install. All the cameras come with spotlights which it supposed to deter predators away which was one of the reasons I bought the system. Here's the problem the spotlights have a mind of there own. They would go on and off all through the day and night with no motion in front of them even after I went in to the settings and made adjustments. The second reason I bought this system and most important it had a Human detection Technology and Facial Capture feature that never worked. I had my wife go outside and pretend to be a predator walk around the front yard the cameras never detected her motion or facial capture both fail. The Night Owl App was very basic. I had it up for two weeks hoping I could make some adjustments since I'm not a professional. I tried calling the tech service department I was on hold for 30 minutes and that's when I decided to returned it all back to the store. If I wanted a simple security system I could of gone to Harbor freight and purchase one for a couple hundred dollars. I rate this Night Owl Video Security System 2 stars.....

Did you visit your product's support page for helpful articles and how to videos addressing some of the issues you described? We do have support agents available via live chat and email as well. As you noted, on occasion our support line does have longer than usual hold times, but that is rare. The spotlights on this system do work well and can be easily adjusted. The issues you described with human detection and facial capture could have resulted from various setup issues, such as the cameras installation location, height, angle, resolution, etc... We wish we could have been provided the opportunity to troubleshoot with you before you returned the product. We wish you well.

Night Owl, or Nightmare

I bought 2 sets with 8 cameras each set, We cant even get them to answer the phone we try and set it up for a password and it says account disabled, we cant reset it it says registration goes though will send link and it never comes.. Good luck on getting to talk with any body in this company. I cant say how it works because we cant get past getting the link to proceed to see if it works... 1200.00 dollars down the toilet.

Amazing video quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just what we needed for video security. It can be hooked to your wifi network, or kept completely off the net. The setup took about 20 minutes, each camera has 60ft of wire, and it's own DVR. It needs to be hooked up to your own tv or pc monitor. but everything else is included. When you set it up, you password protect it, which is another great feature.

Poor video quality, no remote management

I've been working with this system for several days. The only way I could find to manage the system is through an attached monitor and attached mouse. No web interface or remote management application that I could find. I'm not mounting a monitor in my security space just to manage this system. Also the video quality may be 4k but it's horribly noisy. My old system, the Q-See which is 1080 cameras is much clearer and able to zoom the images much better. Also not encouraged that all these stellar reviews apparently were ported from the manufacturer website. The glowing reviews don't glow with what I experienced. Returning it tomorrow.

This system works with Night Owl Protect CMS, available on our support site (support.nightowlsp.com) and works with our free remote viewing app (Night Owl Protect) available in the App Store and Google Play Store. The images should not be grainy. The cameras are 4K and if you want the full benefit of the resolution you should view them on a 4K device. Good cameras, poor human detection

For the price and basic operation, this provides adequate video and audio performance. The algorithms are used to differentiate detection of a "human" or "face" are worthless. If the camera detects a leaf moving, a "human detection" notification is sent, regardless the level of sensitivity specified in settings.

Good quality

Not so good...the cables! It was not difficult to install. My husband and I installed all the cameras by our self, but all those cables where a hassle. The hard work pays off!

Worthless Cameras Don't Buy

I bought 3 of these systems to replace my Q-see systems. The DVR seems to be good but the cameras are worthless. Very cheaply made. I think a piece of paper weighs more than the camera does. The camera is no way 4k quality. When you walk by the camera it leaves tracers behind you. It's so bad that anything that moves in front of it turns to a blur. Doesn't look to bad when everything is still, but when you move it's a whole another story. It also has a very bad delay. So I decided to hook up one of my old cameras from my Q-see system and it worked perfect. No tracers, no blurriness and no delay. So it's the cameras that are no good. I called technical support and chose the option for them to call me back. They did and after they took my information over the phone and they put me on hold for 8 minutes, the phone hung up. I called a second time and decided to wait it out to get a rep on the phone. 29 minutes later I got to speak to someone. After they took all my information again I explained my problem. I asked the rep if he knew what tracers were, he replied with what!! I knew at that time I was in trouble. I had to ask him 3 more times if he knew what tracers were before I realized he has no clue about video cameras. I don't know if he understood. Maybe it was the English barrier. He ran me through about 6 different options to correct the problem but no luck. I kind of figured before I even called that they were not going to be able to fix it, but I took a shot. I just knew it was a cheap camera. Like I said before I thing the DVR is good so I gave it one star. Going to send them all back and try the Swann brand.
