After years of Escort and Valentine ownership, I started with a Uniden product in 2017. Then bought an R3. Now I picked up a newer rendition of the excellent R3 called the R4. No complaints. In addition to radar, it excels at alerting drivers to the extortionary, scam ticketing cameras found in such metros as Chicago.

Very reliable and accurate. Picks up Cops running radar over 1 mile on a straight away and 3/4 mile with obstructions. Never seen anything like it. Cops running radar don't stand a chance! So happy with this purchase, I have purchased two. A little pricy, but well worth the money considering the cost of a ticket!

This detector definitely works as advertised. Has great range and sensitivity. After a lot of research, this was by far the best unit at the price point Sam's was selling it for. Very pleased with the purchase!

I have a Uniden R1 in my truck, reading reviews on this R4 looks even better so I bought one to put in my car. Keeps me attentive since I have a lead foot. I also updated the FW in this unit and my R1. Both work very well, not used for speeding but more for keeping me alert to my speed in speedzones.

Much quieter than I expected, hardly any false signals in city and none so far on Highway. Range is excellent. When KA band alerts, believe it, start slowing down. I replaced my old Escort 9500 with this unit due to LED problems. I especially like the different tone signals for each radar band. I am very satisfied with the R4. I highly recommend the R4.

The desktop app makes it very easy to program and customize. I like the USB port on the 12v power plug.

Excellent range and sensitivity, only feature missing is directional arrows for where the signal is coming from, but at this price that's not an option. Easy to operate doesn't really require tinkering around.

I'm not here to give a detailed review about the Uniden r4. Reviews are covered in great detail on utoob by more qualified reviewers than me. I did my research about this radar detector...and so should you before making a purchase like this. I will say however, after a couple weeks with this detector I'm very satisfied with it. It takes a few days for it to learn and auto-mute all the false alerts but after a week driving my normal route to and from work it is much quieter now that it has auto learned GPS located false alerts. It's great. Download the app called Highway Radar and link this detector to the app via Bluetooth and you have a mostly bullet proof system. This detector is ready for laser transponders once released. Then this will be the best detector you can get at mid range price. I think it is now.
