Snacking and baking

I have been buying the 3 pound bag of walnuts for several years. In the last year or so I have been getting a lot of trash in the bags. When I add these to my cereal in the morning all the trash floats up on top of the milk. It has gotten so bad that I take the hag out to the patio fan and sprinkle the walnuts into a container and let the fan blow the trash out before I store them in an air tight container. There used to be very little trash in the bags, but something has change in the packaging process. Dropping the nuts through an air stream removes all the light trash that is in the bags

Once a great value is not less so because last bag I had to have shipped (versus club pickup) had, and I measured after painstakingly sifting out the shell debrisf, 1/3 pound of shell hulls/dust/particles in it. It was challenging when I first opened the bag to grab more than 1 nut and not get shell debris. How is this supposed to be useable? for eating or baking.

As a few reviewers reviewers, there was a lot of dust in the bag -- I've been buying walnuts like these for about 35 years, so I know an abnormal amount of dust when I see it. Perhaps more strange, there were not 3 lbs of nuts in the bag, it was short over 1/4 lb. At first I thought I forgot to tare, but no. Then i figured my scale must be off so I dug out my other... same weight. Sam's, I think your Vendor is shorting your customers.

I wish these were not shipping only. I don’t ( and I suppose others also) don’t need a perfect walnut half in all my baking! I wish these were available for pick up or delivery. They really are excellent! Plus when I am feeling liberal, I feed them along with peanuts to the birds who love them equally as well.

Membersmark walnuts are a bit different than what we had been buying before. The previous bag was always better tasting. This must be coming from a new supplier because it has more walnuts that are rancid, whereas the previous supplier never had any.

We have been buying walnuts from Sam's for years!!! Purchase at least 3 bags EVERY time we visit the store. They obviously changed their supplier when they changed their packaging. Quality control is lacking at this point and really needs to be addressed. Nut quality is fresh, taste is okay...maybe less than what we were accustomed to in the past. Biggest change we saw was the amount of "settlement" left in the bag. Always had it, but this is ridiculous!!! Had to use a slotted spoon to get the smaller pieces. So... they are walnuts... just be prepared to deal with it!

I have to explain about this review before I begin explaining the problem I have with this particular bag of walnuts. I buy multiple bags of Members Mark nuts; pecans, almonds and walnuts several time every year and have never had an issue. I bake a lot in December so I bought the walnuts and used about 1/2 bag without an issue. Today I needed 2 cups of walnuts and found that the second half of the bag was full of walnut skins. Horrible! I had to wash the walnut pieces before using them to get rid of the skins.

I’m sure my past purchases of this product were much better. The past two bags contained so many fines I threw half the bag out. Someone at the manufacturer needs to check their “fines” screening process a little better. Don’t purchase unless you like picking through dust to get the product you actually want.

Been buying these walnuts for years love the taste of a walnut at breakfast time.
