Pure awesomeness...

I had been looking at multi-cade-type games for a year or more. I didn't want to spend $1500+ on something but was concerned that 1UpArcade and AtGames cabinets were too cheap (meaning the controls would stink, the cabinets would be sized for a 5 year old, they wouldn't offer games I liked, and the overall quality would be that of disposable junk). I am beyond happy with this AtGames cabinet! The quality of everything about this cabinet is exceptional. It is easily upgradeable (think LED marquee and think 1800+ game available with the push of a button). If you're on the fence about buying this, pull the trigger. You won't be disappointed.

Issue w/ control board

Super cool, when it works. From the second we turned it on the first time it was frozen. We realized very quickly that something was wrong and reached out to the manufacturer. We need a new control board, they're sending us a new one. Fingers crossed that's the only problem, because when it is working, it's REALLY fun!

Great Retro Arcade Value

Great arcade game system. This arrived very well packaged and without any issues as reported by others for the earlier versions. Everything went together easily by one person. The top half is all assembled and only the bottom half requires some assembly for the panels (similar to furniture kits). The controls are great and gives you a variety of ways to play for up to two people at the same time. The only negative I would point is that the wireless connection is weak and if you connect with wireless you'd need to make sure you have the router and the arcade machine close together. The other option is to connected with wired (ethernet) connection. They company sends regular updates via internet, so the first thing to do is to connect it to internet and get the latest update. It also requires the machine to be connected to internet if you decide to add your own games to it using the USB flash drive. It will ask you to connect to internet after 5th time the machine is turned on. With the Sam's club bundle they offer the free 3 month subscription to their servers so you can also play their on-line games, but it is not required to play the games included with the unit. Overall, it's a great value.

Great idea but packaging flaws and broken parts

I originally saw this last Thanksgiving for $499 less $50 savings and an extra game dongle. It sold out and took almost a year to see it turn up again. Given the issue of availability, I’d way the manufacturer’s problems start with manufacturing challenges. But they don’t stop there. Still, I loved the idea of a full-size arcade game with tons of games (over 300) and the ability to add more or connect another gaming device, and the price point was hard to resist. Arcade 1-Up is they’re main competitor but you get a 3/4 size machine with only a handful of games with their many models (I have one, purchased it on sale, and would give that 4 stars based on better overall quality). So, I decided to take a chance when the Legends Ultimate Arcade became available again. By the way, I don’t see the Legends Ultimate sold anywhere but Sam’s Club and also Walmart (for $100 more). When it arrived and I unpacked it, I found a broken support piece. After trying to get just that one piece replaced through Sam’s Club Customer Service, somehow they ended up sending an entire replacement unit. That ended up being a good thing because I ended up finding the main control panel was broken too. So in the end, I cobbled together enough parts from both units to end up with a complete unit without broken parts. But even then, I had to add some of my own DYI repair to replace stripped out screws, glue a couple of things, etc. So buyer beware, based on my experience and almost universal reviews from others, expect that you will very likely receive a unit that will have problems. I will add, assembly is pretty simple once you have all the parts. I now have a unit that does work and does not have any broken parts, so let me tell you about playing it. First, the full size arcade size is only the size of the unit and not the screen size. With the functionless border around the playing screen, it is actually the same size gaming screen as Arcade 1-Up units. Next, keep in mind that the games, while offering a huge choice, are all games from years ago when graphics were basic. But the nostalgia is part of the appeal. I have not tried downloading newer games from my STEAM account to see whether the graphics card actually has better capabilities. One very positive thing is the wide selection of controls, which surprisingly seem quite solid and function smoothly. Some games even let you choose between controllers such as the joystick or trackball. There are also two full sets of controls for the two-player challenge games. Connecting up to my WiFi network and getting firmware updates was easy. Other than that, I haven’t really tested Internet-based games, externally connected gaming, or adding games on my own, yet. Frankly, having over 300 as it is and apparently a few more added when it did it’s last firmware update, are probably more than enough. Some games are throwaways for two reasons; you’ll find multiple versions of some games (original, deluxe, etc. versions of Asteroids, for example) and since you will encounter a few that just don’t work right or the sound is flawed (might even screech). Related to that is the last odd thing, the unit does not have volume control, and the volume is generally too loud. You can’t even turn the sound off/on, but I hope they’ll somehow address that in one of their firmware updates. Overall I gave this product 3 stars. On a frustration scale it would be a 1 star review, but once I finally had a complete machine and consider the value price point, I’ll say it could be worth the money if you have patience and if Sam’s Club Customer Service came through as they did for me. Or at least, figure you’ll get more or less what you pay for. That said, I would have been happier if I got the extra $50 off and the extra dongle that had PacMan on it too last Thanksgiving.

Don’t waste your Money…..

Don’t waste your money. Started putting it together and ha to drill holes in 1 panel to put it together. Once it was done we plugged it in and the home screen came on and it froze and wouldn’t work. So the grandkids just stared at it on Christmas, contacted the manufacturer and they only communicate by email so that took forever. So they finally sent us a new mother board and after that it did the same thing. We finally got frustrated and took it back to Sam’s Club, they were great, they took it back no questions asked full refund. Contacted the manufacturer and haven’t heard anything since. So don’t waste your money.

So much potential but in the end I had to return

The AtGames Legends Ultimate had a lot of potential but unfortunately the controls on my unit did not work consistently. More than 50% of the time the controls would stop responding and I would have to restart the unit hoping they would start working again. The screen was also a bit low if playing while standing but I would have kept it if the controls worked properly. It was nice that you could load your own ROMs via the addonx feature. However, the fact that you had to login to Atgames Arcadenet to activate the feature periodically was worrisome. Right now Arcadenet is in a free beta but I wonder if Atgames will try to charge for this in the future (why else require you to login?). Atgames customer service replied to my support email right away but the advice they offered was minimal and didn't seem likely to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the feedback. All of the many free features that are currently available will remain free. The only value-added services that will or do cost extra is the optional cloud gaming option and the optional ArcadeNet games service (once it's out of free beta). Like all connected devices and services, periodic online validation is required to ensure system and software integrity. The hundreds of built-in games and other features can be enjoyed entirely offline should you not want to take advantage of things like online play, online leaderboards, etc.

Incredible platform at the best price you'll find

The included 300 games are decent mix, but the real power of this platform is the ability to load your own library of games. The USB and HDMI connectivity at the top of the controller section makes it really easy. Further, the included support for additional controllers makes it easy to add inputs when more people want to play. Setup is very straightforward and easy and there is no shortage of online video tutorials to help with the more advanced functionality.

Junk

Bought this the first time and one of the boards was broken. Returned and bought another one and the second one’s buttons didn’t work. Worthless piece of junk.

Awesome unit for the price. Easy to add games

Quick shipping. Arrived in good condition. Easy to add coin ops and 1500 classic games...if you are computer literate at all. That pushes this into extreme value!

Poor customer support

This a good deal, however the tech support for it is not good. You have to email a question in then wait a few days for a response. After the response you may have to provide more information then wait again.
