Great tread life

The 2011 Ford F-250 I drive for work came gripped with a set of LT 265/70R17 Rugged Trails. As I sit with 77,489 miles on them today I will surely see 90,000 miles out of them. This truck weighs in at just under 10,000 pounds. I have had no issues with traction here in Oregon over snow or through heavy rains. I have had this set rotated only once, hard to find the time. Even wear regardless. The last set of Rugged Trails I had went 95,000 miles. This beats any other tire I have heard of in the same conditions.

Excellent tire...on my second set!

Excellent all around tire for highway, road, trail, snow/ice, etc.! In my location, the tires are constantly exposed to extreme sunlight so my first set succumbed to sun damage after 6 years - well before the tread life was up. They have handled and held up so well I bought the same tires again.

BUrst in Death Valley

I bought a used 2010 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X with 12K miles. It had the OEm Rugged T/As. They looked excellent. They had plenty of tracktion on our Colorado winter. My son's Xterra upgraded to the All Terrain T/A and they were great on and off road. I took my yearly off road trip to the Colorado Mts, Utah, Death Valley (CA) and northern Nevada. They handled rough mountain terrain very well, but on a regular dirt road in Death Valley my rear right tire burst. The hole was rather large and back in civilization I had to replace the tire. In the Nevada part of the trip the opposite tire started loosing air. We found a nail had gone thru. We made a temporary repair and the tire was re-used. I am baffled that it performed well in very rough terrain, but failed in simple dirt road.

This tire has worked very ...

This tire has worked very well on my wife's Ford Escape. They have handled the snowy winters very well. Wet road traction is very good, noise isn't bad, and the life has been over 50k. They do fine on a hard-pack dirt road or light offroad adventures but leave more to be desired for sand or rough terrain. As of now I am planning on installing another set of these tires on the Escape!

I HAD MICHELIN DEFENDER 2 FOR NINE YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS SO I REPLACED THEM WITH THE SAME BRAND. I was pleased with the longevity and the ride. I live where there’s lots of snow, but it doesn’t stop me from driving. THE DEFENDER 2 tires plowed through without slipping or spinning I’m pleased with my purchase.

Pleased with my Rugged Trails

Rugged Trail T/A's came in on my 2005 F250 4x4 crew cab as the stock tire (LT 265/70-17). I had excellent trad wear with them, finally replacing them at 76,000 miles. I never rotated them and they never required a balance. When I replaced them, the rear tires were at 4/32" and the fronts were at 8/32". I found that to be outstanding since they were installed on such a heavy truck. They always got around good in the snow and rain. Not so good in mud, but very good off road if it was dry. I would highly recommend these tires.

Great performance

The factory Yokohama tires on my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek were fair at best. They had a decent ride BUT they did not even make it to 36,000 miles (which is not acceptable!). I bought the Michelin Defender 2 tires and I am exceedingly pleased with the results. The Michelin Defender 2’s (along with a wheel alignment) have made a significant difference in the overall quality and performance of the ride. Tight on the corners and overall smooth and quiet. The Michelin Defender 2’s are noticeably quieter and hug the road smoother. From now on I will only be driving on Michelin tires. Also, they have an 80,000 mile warranty. I drive in all kinds of weather conditions and thus far they have exceeded my expectations in all respects. Great job Michelin you have made a lifetime customer out of me.

not up to the standard

This tire came on our fleet vehicles. We have over 300 on the road. When they were brand new they were good tires as most all tires are. I rotate my tires every 10k. This tire requires you to rotate them more often. after 25k miles I started to feel and hear the tires getting louder. I drove 35k miles in 9 months so I'm on the road a lot. I work from the mississippi river to the Atlantic, from the flat lands in the midwest to the rugged hills of PA and Maine. They are just horrible in the snow and rain. I wouldn't recommend these tires to anyone. If your looking for something that goes on the highway and the gravel/mud roads this isn't the tire for you.

Excellent handling and quiet

With only 10,500 miles on our 2024 Honda CRV Sport Touring AWD Hybrid, we picked up a nail in a non-repairable spot (I spent 25+ years in automotive repair and tires so I know when I have to replace and not repair). Unfortunately it was going to take about a week to ge the same exact Michelin tire to replace this one, but my daughter has to leave to go back to college in the early morning. The option was to buy another set of tires and keep the 3 good ones. So that is what we did. The Michelin Defender 2 is a great tire with an 80,000 mile life expectancy. It handles well and provides a nice smooth and quiet ride. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is a noisy ride on my car (looking in the direction of other major tire brands that sponsors variations of auto races and monster trucks). Back to these specific tires though, the handling is great and my daughter that drives this car even mentioned that she likes these tires better than the orignial ones that came on the car. The tires are responsive and flex the way they should to provide a smooth and quiet drive. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent tire.

I’m committed to the D2 !

2003 Lexus LS430, replaced Continentals with the D2–and I am blown away at the better ride, noise, wet traction, feel… I have never felt such a difference with tires. The car sits better and has a better stance. I am a believer in Michelin Defender, the Defender2 is even better. I am very pleased with this decision 100%.
