On snow and ice...

These tires came stock on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma. I had read poor reviews about these prior to purchase of the vehicle, but wanted to approach the reviews with a healthy level of skepticism. What I can tell you: I drive a lot, for both work and personal activities. Which means I put 30,000 miles on this vehicle in 11 months. I also live and work in a place where snow, ice and hardpack are around for 5 months of the year. I have never had to purchase specific winter tires for a vehicle. I purchased the truck new with these tires, kept them properly inflated and rotated every 5000 miles. Pros: The tires are light, quiet and fuel efficient for dry bare pavement and light rain. They did not disappoint for summer driving and light off road use 1-2 times per month on rocky or rutted gravel and sand roads with no change in tire pressure. The tires definitely wear well, as a result of the harder compound. Cons: These tires performed fine on hardpack snow in 4wd for the first 5,000- 10,000 miles worth of use. Shortly after I purchased the vehicle it was driven from Michigan to Montana in Mid November. Overall the tires performed reasonably well in mountain passes with fresh snow over ice and hardpack. However, after about 10,000 miles of use the tires did not hook up as well, in snow when cornering at low speeds, and stopping despite different driving styles (mine and my wife's) was downright unpredictable. Shortly therafter, I was unable make it up our short snow covered driveway without the use of 4wd, (in my previous vehicle wrangler rubicon unlimited with hankook and other BFG All terrain tires 4wd was not necessary.) I would not recommend these tires for anyone looking for an all terrain or all season tire for areas that receive significant amounts of snow. The hard compound does not hook up well in winter conditions.

Smooth ride and long lifetime make for an exceptional value.

The Michelin Defender2 provides a nice quiet ride. They're very responsive yet stable. The 80,000 mile warranty is nice, and did impact my decision, and so far I'm happy with them. Probably the last tires I'll be buying for this vehicle (MB ML350).

Horrible Treadlife

We have a 2011 Nissan Titan Pro4x-this truck was purchased new in dec of 2011 it now has approximately 30,000 miles on it- at 25,000 the tires were worn out- we have had them rotated at every other oil change about 7,000 miles- the truck is a daily driver no heavy towing and has never been off-road- I have always purchased Bfgoodrich tires but these are the worst I've ever seen- I was ecpecting at least 50,000 out of these tires especially after I just priced a set

Excellent tire...on my second set!

Excellent all around tire for highway, road, trail, snow/ice, etc.! In my location, the tires are constantly exposed to extreme sunlight so my first set succumbed to sun damage after 6 years - well before the tread life was up. They have handled and held up so well I bought the same tires again.

While this tire delivers ...

While this tire delivers a fairly quiet ride, it's wet and snow traction (based on 2+ years of ownership) is well below average. This specific tire by no means represents what quality tires BFGoodrich has to offer as a whole, but does not meet the demands of the automobile it was placed on.

Great tire low treadlife

This tire came on my 2012 F-350 4x4 dually. I've towed my 20K lb camper more than 13K miles and driven unloaded more than 20k miles. The tires handle excellent on wet, dry, snow and dirt. I have not been on ice or mud. They dig in sand. I am very pleased with the tires, but I am currently searching for a new set as they are completely worn out. Tires are worn pretty evenly and have had normal rotations.

Excellent wear on 2008 FJ Crusier

Stock tires on my 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser (6 speed manual all time 4x4). These tires aren't the best for off road (poor mud performance), but they did extremely well on road and for occasional off roading. At 52,000+ miles they are evenly worn with a few thousand left to go (my rotations weren't even consistant). I'm just now upgrading to a competitors M/T, but it was tuff deciding between BF Goodrich's M/T and the competions. The deciding factor was noise on road, looks, and reviews. After you have 50,000 on your 4x4, you're more likely to take it off road. These were great tires.

Not worth the price tag

I bought a set of these from a guy that had them on his 1 ton truck, he had them on for less than a year and under 2,000 miles. I can see why he sold them for so cheap, they have a very harsh ride quality. They do wear evenly which is a good sign but when I hit a bump...hold on for dear life. I have new shocks and no leaf spring issues but these tires don't help absorb any of that force from hitting a bump. Snow, wet and slushy road conditions are the enemy of this tire, terrible traction. Be ready to use your four wheel drive even with the lightest of snow fall. If you drive a GM truck with traction control oand stabilitrack, keep that turned off with these tires and your 4WD ready. I can see why the previous owner got rid of these for cheap, I see them for sale all the time for dirt cheap on local websites. It's time BF Goodrich stops overcharging for tires just because of the name. I used to have the 33 inch mud terrains but after these tires, never again

Less than favourable

I live and work in Canada's North. I'm lucky if 50% of my driving is on paved roads, and I consider the fact that these tires came from the factory as part of the "off road package" absolutely laughable. I can't count the amount of times that my 3/4 ton Ram has had to be pulled out of a soft snow covered shoulder beside the road... or a wet grassy lawn... or heaven forbid a sandy work site. It's embarrassing. When I DO venture south and finally get to a highway, they perform adequately. But for what I require out of a truck tire, they are, quite frankly, dismal.
