Smooth ride and long lifetime make for an exceptional value.

The Michelin Defender2 provides a nice quiet ride. They're very responsive yet stable. The 80,000 mile warranty is nice, and did impact my decision, and so far I'm happy with them. Probably the last tires I'll be buying for this vehicle (MB ML350).

Great

In 2004 I purchased a 2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x4 with a diesel engine. This truck came equipped with BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A in LT265/75R16. This vehicle in itself is heavy and I also pull a 30' fifth wheel when vacationing. I drive 60 miles a day to and from work and much of it is in 4 wheel drive. As of today I have 105,338 miles on these tires and believe they still have 25% of the tread left. I will be replacing them soon because I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where the winters are hard and long, old saying is 9 months of winter and 3 months of poor sledding. Thank you for a great product, I will be looking for another BF Goodrich product for a replacement.

Poor tread life

I purchased these tires from a local store after trying to get a different set that were discontinued or back ordered. I originally tried to buy the all-terrains because I've heard nothing but good things about them. When I ordered them I went into the store to get them put on and after they were mounted and I was told my truck was ready, I approached my vehicle and noticed that they weren't what I ordered. The dealer had told me that they weren't currently in stock in that these were the best tires that BFGoodrich makes. Because my truck was already two weeks passed inspection I said whatever and just decided I would deal with it since the BF Goodrich name has always been so good. Within a year of normal small City driving my tires are completely bald. I've been driving on them for the last 6 months because that $1,000 a set, I can't just go out and buy new tires. I currently have a decent amount of money saved up and will be buying a different brand. I am very disappointed in these tires. After being a driver for 20 years, these are by far the worst tires that I've ever had. That title was previously labeled to the tires that came on this truck but these have surpassed it by far. The store that I purchased these tires from had closed about a month after I bought them. Therefore there was nobody to honor a warranty.

Pretty good tires

I got these on my Tacoma from the factory and I was pleasantly surprised. I currently have 52K miles on these tires with no complaints. They work well on sand, loose gravel , snow, wet conditions etc. The road noise is not too bad compared to other BFG tires I have owned .

Side walls opening in 1/2 to 1" cracks

I have had these tires for 2 years on my 1998 Expedition. Light use, on road, approx 1,200 miles per year. I like the performance and the ride. Not happy that the side walls are opening up in 1/2 and 1" tears on all four tires, inside and out. Not sure the tires are safe. [...] I'll be looking closely at the 6 year warranty.

These Rugged Trail T/A's ...

These Rugged Trail T/A's were put on my car by accident. I originally ordered the Long Trail T/A's for my Ford Explorer. My dealer installed the wrong tire, after looking at the tire installed on my car, I decided to give them a try instead of having them removed and the correct tires installed. I was pleasantly surprised by the quietness of the ride they gave. I was worried as the Rugged Trails have a more aggresive tread than the Long Trails. Overall I am very pleased with these tires and would recommend them to my family and friends and other BF Goodrich customers.

Not your typical milage

I purchased my F-250 Crew mid October 2006. She was shod with a set of the BFG Rugged Trail TAs. I've had different BFG tires in the past & knew of their quality, so I knew these would do me good. My 1st heavy snow I was impressed with the grip and confidence. The ride on dry pavement was nice and quiet. MPG isn't an option in a gas Super Duty. The 75psi and F-250 suspension made bumps a bit rough though (it rode like a truck). I did a few thousand miles of towing of a 28' enclosed trailer (running about 11k lbs loaded) and 18' open trailer. I only rotated the tires 3 or 4 times over the lifetime, but always watched my pressures and treated the sidewalls with silicon sprays. I considered replacing them in the Fall of 2010, but they weren't down to the wear bars yet. Finally this year I decided to replace them with another set of the Rugged Trail TAs. So after 96,911 miles the truck got a new set of tires! And they STILL have 3/32 - 5/32" of tread left on them!!!!!! Oh yeah, these tires are AWESOME! I'm hoping to get up to Moosehead Lake to test them with some off-roading this Summer.

Running two sets

Running one set of Rugged trails on an 2008 six cylinder Envoy and another set on a 2008 Toyota land cruiser. These vehicles split their time between six lane highways at speeds up to 80 MPH in temperatures of up to 122 degrees. Off road on very rough mountain and canyon tracks in Oman and deep desert work in the empty quarter. So far, not one puncture, good traction and with 20,000 miles on each set, not too much wear. Beats the factory fit tyres hands down.

Horrible

I would not recommend these tires to anyone. I purchased them one week shy of two years ago and just spent the last three hours getting new tires. They only lasted 25k miles. I drive mostly in city or highway. They only went off road a couple of times, on very easy trails. I am so disappointed! They look good, that's about it.
