Great tires for tread life

These are the best tires I have ever owned for tread life. I am 61 years old, have owned a lot of tires my Friends. I Bought a new 2008 Ford F-150 4x4 with these tires installed. I now have 80,000 miles on them!! Had no issues in the snow here in Washington state. I have never had a flat either. I am now retired and travel to Florida in the Winter and drive back and forth. My view of these tires is very good, yes I recommend them.

Factory set

Was the factory set on my '05 2500 4dr short box dodge diesel. Sold the truck after I put a little over 60k on them and they probly would have last another 5-10k before all were at the wear bars. They were pretty worthless in the winter in MN, but handled weight well, and wore very even. Rural driving for the most part, probly 70/30 tar/gravel driving. I wouldn't and havn't puchased another set just because the traction doesn't fit my needs.

Second time not a charm

This is the second set of Rugged Trail T/A on my 2003 Explorer. After the first set (OEM) ran nearly 70,000 miles I decided to buy them again. The second set did not last nearly as long, barely 40,000 miles and my driving is still the same. I rotate reguarly and have my alignment checked every six months. Very disappointing. I'm looking for new tires now and I'm reluctant to try them again. I truly can't recommend either way.

These tires were on the truck when I bought it so I didn't actually choose them. But being a fan of BFG, I was happy to have them. This winter has really put them to the test. The deep snow and ice has been more than these Long Trails can handle. A good all around tire but I'll get All-Terrain T/As next time.

Poor performing Tire

Came stock on my 07 Tundra and had to replace them after only 38k miles. They are horrible in any off road or snow condition. I went with the All Terrains and they are leaps and bounds better that the Rugged Trails. Don't waste your money on these.

Cracking between treads

These tires came with my 2011 Titan, and have worked pretty well. However, I picked up a screw last week and when I took it in to get patched the Tire guys said they were concerned with how much cracking was observed between the treads and were hesitent to even patch the tire because of that. I hadn't noticed this before, but sure enough, all four had pretty significant cracks running between the treads, and they only have 20,000 on them. I compared to the wife's good years with 50,000 and she doesn't have any cracking to speak of. Now I have to start planning to replace tires with 70% tread left - has anyone else had an luck with BFGoodrich standing behind these tires?

These replaced a factory ...

These replaced a factory set of Michelin LTXs on my Honda Ridgeline. The Rugged Trails are not as elegant (increased road noise, looser handling) but the overall performance (comfort, directional control, braking, wet performance) is comparable. I do tow a travel trailer. They handle the load better than the LTXs but they do cause a little more wander on the road. I would not want to do daily commuting on these (noisy) but for overall truck utility, they are at a better price point and offer better value than the Michelin LTX.

Exceeded Expectations

Have had these tires on my truck for the last 7 years / 90,000 miles (give or take) in all season northern Nevada weather and I am just now replacing them due to two tires being slashed. You can bet I am keeping one of the remaining two as a spare, thoough. These tires are more than worth it.

Tires are very good on the road. Performance characteristicts on road are very good, noise is minimal. Off road performance is good but not great. They handle ice and light snow very good, deep snow over whelms the limited tread. Its what you expect when buying a tire of this type.

worn out at 40000

I just got my 40000 mile service from my Ford Dealer andthe tech came out to tell me that my next visit, I should really think about buying new tires, because they were starting to wear really bad. I didn't believe him. One of the tires has only 25000 miles on it as the valve stem blew out and the tire disinegrated and had to be replaced. Even the replaced tire is worn to the point that after a couple rotations I can no longer tell which tire has the least amount of wear.
