Lifetime Adventure Tower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The swing set is awesome. I do wish though, that we had the option to get the spider swing instead of the trapeze
Hours of Fun
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this playset last year and it has provided hours of fun for our boys ages 6 and 4! The playset itself is very sturdy and my husband said it wasn't hard to put together! We also love the no maintenance part of this playset! I would definitely recommend this!
My Grandkids Love This!!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Adventure Tower Play set six months ago. My grandkids love it. I put it by our pool so they can slide down the slide into the pool. They have a ball with it. We live in Arizona so I installed a mister system on it. It keeps it cool so they can play in the heat of the day. When they are done playing the tower holds their pool toys. I'm so happy I bought this. I would highly recommend this play set. Instructions for assembly were easy to follow. I am a Grandmother...my son and I put it together.
Great Set! Instructions needs updating
The set is fantastic, my son loves it. Problem with this is mainly the instruction manual, not the product. The bolts and washer letter designation do not match the blister packs. The only way around it I found was to take the part and match it to the instruction book. Fortunately the manual pictures are actual size of the bolts, etc, so you can match it up that way. I can see someone who is not mechanically incline get frustrated with the installation. Lifetime should update either the manuals or get the labeling correct.
LIFETIME needs a paint consultant and a testing lab. I can help.
The set was delivered to my home in Tampa, FL area on April 2, 2021. The photos above were taken on April 12th, 2021. Functionally, it is a great set. My daughter loves it and it pains me to know that it will not last. Rust is starting to present itself following ten (10) Days of exposure to the elements. The set was constructed approximately 8 miles from Tampa Bay so the set did not see any high salinity. The parts affected are DXI (x2) and DZV (x2). These pieces bolt through the tower floor and support the railing on the tower. When the parts were installed, the tabs on the bottom bent slightly. They are made of thing-gauge steel which can be difficult to coat due to the sharp edges. The coating used has very little flexibility casing it to crack as can be seen in the photos. There are also areas where the welds have pinholes which expose the substrate underneath. Many of the parts are made with weep holes. Possibly for draining during the coating process or to allow for draining during install. The concern is that these areas are uncounted and the set may rust from the inside out. Consumers: please be advised of the above issues. Unless this product is to be used indoors or in low-moisture environments you may have issues regarding longevity. Lifetime: Some of the problems can be engineered out. Other problems could be resolved with your choice of coatings manufacturer. I would be happy to provide you with a formal proposal to perform any performance testing from an accredited third party testing lab to assist with improving your products and helping them live up to the brand name "LIFETIME." In the meantime, please send re-designed parts for replacement: So far the list is as follows: DXF x1, DXO x2, and DXI x2. Perhaps have the fab shop weld a slightly more thick base
Rust is the result of the oxidation of iron. The most common cause is prolonged exposure to water. Any metal that contains iron, including steel, will bond with the oxygen atoms found in water to form a layer of iron oxide, or rust. Rust will increase and speed up the corrosion process, so upkeep is important. However, removing rust is not too difficult. You can sand down the rust and apply some touch up paint that can be ordered through customer service at 1-800-225-3856.
Worthless Pile of Rust / Scrap Metal
We purchased this when we moved into our current home in December of 2018. We live in the arid dry desert of west Texas but, like a lot of people, we have a sprinkler system in our yard. This playground started to rust within days of it being assembled, and now it is so corroded it is unsafe to play on. Weld seams have rusted through and broke off of the frame, screws have pulled out of rusted steel, the mounting holes for the ladder have disintegrated. The coating system on the metal is too thin, and all the contact from dissimilar metals has caused massive galvanic corrosion issues. Lifetime apparently means you get 2 years out of it if it ever gets wet. I would hate to see one that is used in a humid area where it rains.
Oh no! We are sorry your playset is rusting. Please email us at reviews@lifetime.com so we can make this right.
Great quality
I purchased this after researching swing sets for 3 days. I really didn't want a wooden swing set due to upkeep, splinters, etc. However my daughter wanted monkey bars so I needed a pretty big swing set. Delivery was great however it did arrive in 3 boxes which was a bit intimidating. It took 3 adults about 10 hours to put together (we did this over 2 days in 30 degree weather). It was actually pretty straightforward to put together. We were very impressed with the quality. It's very heavy duty and I anticipate getting many years out of it. My 4 year old is very excited!
A park in our backyard!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't know who was more excited about the Adventure Tower Deluxe Playset? Me or my 6 year old? It is the center of activity and adventure. Kids come over and say "Wow! You have a park in your yard?" It provides activity, imagination, and friendship. I absolutely love this set. High quality, sturdy and safe. I highly recommend the professional install. Two hours and ....BAM! It's done.
Whew!
What a play set! I mean that mostly as a good thing however there were some hiccups along the way. Firstly, the shipping was an issue. If I had not called ABF Freight myself to get some information the playset would've arrived at my home via tractor trailer and an 8'x4' crate would've been left at the end of my 200ft long driveway, in the middle of the street. Thankfully ABF was understanding of this huge dilemma and they contacted lifetime who authorized them to use a flatbed truck that had a forklift that could not only get down my driveway but also put the crate in the backyard, where the playset was going to be assembled. On to assembly: It took 3 of us (sometimes 4) about 10.5hrs to assemble over the course of 2 days. I definitely suggest at least 3 people for the job! -Thankfully I read a lot of reviews before assembling and knew that the instructions were unclear in some parts and that the videos Lifetime made where somewhat helpful... There were still times where we were confused because the directions did not use enough of a description to go with the picture for the step we were trying to complete. I feel as though this sucked up some of our assembly time and was rather frustrating. Familiarize yourself with the manual beforehand!! -We had 2 tables outside where we could layout the hardware we were going to use for the assembly step we were on. We had all of our tools laid out on the other table. Before each step one person gathered all of the hardware needed for the step and all of the pieces. If washers had to be threaded for the step it was helpful to do that on all bolts for that step. I had on a sweatshirt with a giant front pocket where I put all of the hardware needed for that step so that they were right there (a tool belt would work too). While the other 2 workers where tightening up the hardware for that step I went back to the table and got everything ready for the next step. This is where a 4th person comes in handy as well. 2 ppl holding pieces, one person handing hardware, 1 person readying the next step. Use a ratcheting screw driver with an allen wrench head on it…. You'll still need one of the allen wrenches provided but the ratchet will save you time and save your wrist! Barrel nuts suck!! Since they connect inside the poles you have to hold the bolt still while trying to catch a threat with the nut. Use the hole in the nut to look through to line up the bolt! Make sure you have tower poles facing the proper way. It would've been helpful if Lifetime could label the poles not only with numbers but also with a marking to identify which side needs to face inward. You'll have to identify other poles besides the Swingbar at some points and if they were numbered on the pole and in the diagram you wouldn't be second guessing yourself. After you get the Adventure Tower Assembled its smooth sailing from there. Other than those tips I think it's an amazing playset and very well built! The slide is a little steep and the hump causes my daughter to go airborne… I even got a little air when I went down.
PLEASE READ before buying
My grandmother gave us this playground as a wedding gift 4.5 years ago. The rust on the tower is outrageous. I have been in contact with a customer service rep at lifetime for the past couple of months. They will not honor the warranty because I cannot produce the receipt. My grandmother passed 2 years ago so I can't ask her for it! I explained this many of times to them but they're unwilling to help except for giving me a discount on the faulty parts(which will be almost as much the playground with shipping to Hawaii). They even said to discontinue use of the play set as it is not safe anymore. The monkey bars and swings are fine. The tower however looks like it is 10 years older than the rest of the play ground. To be fair I do live in a humid environment. Still doesn't explain why half the playground is rusting and falling apart at an exponentially faster rate than the rest. My kids are so bummed that they can't play on the tower in fear of getting cut by the rusty metal or the whole thing collapsing from not being structurally sound. Especially right now during this "stay at home" period. I normally don't leave negative reviews but I don't want anyone else to have to suffer through this like we did. I have a 2 lifetime plastic folding tables that work great...not too sure what happened with the playground.
