I bought two of these about two weeks apart as gifts for my sister who has a cat rescue kennel in Michigan. Many of the animals are quite feral and this winter has been rough. These dog houses are large enough for all the cats to share the two of them without squabbles. There is a significant difference between the outside temperature and the temperature inside the houses. The cats are comfortable even at -20 degrees outside temperature. The door is too heavy for cats but if you remove the bottom half of the door it's just right, plenty of room to get in and out without letting in too much wind. Put some straw bedding in and you've got a wonderful nest for even the elderly cats who refuse to stay inside a home. The barn style roof keeps snow from building up on top and the raised entrance keeps the accumulating snow out and the straw and other bedding dry.

Easy to assemble and there are videos on YouTube for those of us who like visual instructions. I'm impressed at how tall this house is. Our dog is a lab/husky mix and has plenty of standing room. He has no trouble getting through the door, but training with treats could easily help others. Can't seem to get our stubborn dog to stay and sleep in the house. Hoping he'll figure out how warm and cozy he can be.

I bought this unit based on the reviews and on Sam's great price and low shipping cost. The house arrived in 2 boxes. Assembly was a breeze (I was able to put it together alone in about 15 minutes). I do agree with other comments that the screws could be longer, but that wasn't enough of a detriment to downgrade the rating. I put my dog's fleece pad inside an threw in a couple of treats. He went right in and made himself at home. He used to leave his igloo at sunrise, but now he sleeps in so I know he's really comfortable in there. I didn't buy the heating pad but put in a separate wall heating unit. I can reach inside through the door on a cold day and feel feel a big temperature difference from outside so the insulation really is effective.

Terrible shipping. Zero padding to protect product. Damaged box and plug came out of one panel. Ended up with insulation all over house floor and dumping from shipping box. Have to set up a pick up on unknown date for return and then have an item re-sent on unknown date per customer service. Will not be using sams club anymore.

This house was purchased for a growing 41#, 7 mo old pitbull pup. This went together within 20 minutes including opening the 2 boxes. The design/construction is very ingenious (like tongue and groove in woodworking), we left the bottom of the door off to start (as suggested) & opened the back window, & the air flow is great. (Still hot here) The pup took to the house immediately, when it gets hot, he goes into his house & looks out the door opening. Was really impressed with the door design. Best of all *Sam's Club price was 1/2 the price of two online pet stores. Received in 2 days after ordering. Low Shipping cost. Great purchase! ! !

I've been having this dog house for 3 months now, and I got to say that this is the best thing I bought for my dog. I've put the house to the test with the recent cold weather and the tons of rain that California is experiencing, and it has been holding up very, very well. I check on my dog every night and everytime his ears are super warm. That gives me peace of mind to know that when I come home very late at night he will stay warm and dry. Totally recommend to all.

We have only had the dog house for about a month but it seems to be well built & sturdy. It was super easy to assemble -- everything snapped together and then was a simple task to place the screws. One person could assemble it it easily. With two of us it took about 5 min. to put together. It looks to be quite easy to clean as well. There is a very slight tilt to the floor towards the drain hole which should help if you choose to hose it out. The plastic is at least -- if not more -- dense than the average child's outdoor playhouse. Also, because of the insulation the walls are pretty thick -- the inside is considerably smaller than the outside. So check the INSIDE measurements when picking the appropriate size for your dog. I was a little concerned about the size as it is recommended for med. to large dogs. Ours is definitely more of a large (Border Collie/German Shepherd) but it is a good fit. She sleeps indoors so it is only for protection from inclement weather. If she was outdoors all the time I would probably have wanted one a littlle larger. Since the door is a little different from anything she has been accustomed to, we removed the lower door as suggested by the manufacturer to encourage our dog to go inside. Now that she understands I am hoping she will still use it when we replace the lower section. Fortunately, our dog is not prone to chewing things that don't belong to her. The only (small) problem I can see is that -- if you have a dog that insists on chewing everything -- the edges around the door frame could be vulnerable. Overall, this is the nicest house of this size and price than any we saw elsewhere.

the top half of the door has very fragile plastic nubs that break easily. We are unable to use the door until I repair the broken nubs with something different. This is the only part of the doghouse that I am dissatisfied with. The rest seems quite sturdy, but in our very cold climate, the hinged door is one of the main reasons I purchased 2 of these doghouses.

We recently acquired two outdoor only dogs and without a covered patio, I wanted something to keep them warm and dry. These doghouses do just that! They were extremely easy to put together and my two 50lb dogs easily have space to lay down and stretch out. I also felt better after researching houses that these are insulated and can keep them warm when our two weeks of winter hits. Also, after looking at other websites, Sam's was by far the cheapest for this brand and house I had seen. There is plenty of space for any bedding, we did not opt to purchase ASL's bedding yet and used our own. The plastic is great, as my puppies are wood chewers. The only slight notice we had when receiving this product was the way it was packaged turned the back of one of our doghouses a blue color, but since it is outside I am not going to fuss. Overall, very happy and anticipate it lasting the life of my dogs.

I am very impressed with these dog houses and have purchased 3 of these so far. My dogs stay warm, dry, and love to stay in them. The bedding stays in due to the way the front construction is. Haven't had to clean yet as we're going thru winter now, but am VERY impressed and will buy more!
