I unpacked it immediately and it was packaged with great care to protect it during shipping. It was easy to set up. I watched the DVD’s to get an idea of how to use the attachments. I suggest watching both because they each use the total gym a little differently. The woman actually uses all of the attachments and the trainer with the man and woman utilize the cables for an intermediate workout. I was surprised how much resistance is added by moving the machine up one notch you get to decide how much of your body weight you get to workout with. I do wish the bars used for dips were a little taller and were a little further away from the side to get a little better dip movement in but I’m a big guy 6’1” and 270lbs. You are able to add to the equipment though, so that’s a good option. For 300 dollars, this replaces probably a thousand dollars worth of equipment and weights easily. I will probably still invest in some dead weights for chest exercises but I am very satisfied with the Total Gym. I done a lot of exercises for back arms and got a great pump, you can easily do kick outs and mule kicks and changing the angle of your body from straight up to bent forward noticeably changes what part of the triceps are getting worked. As an experienced weight lifter, I like doing push one day and pulls the next. I believe that you get more out of the workout doing a push pull routine. Resistance workouts are a great way of building strength. It definitely folds up quickly and leans against a wall, taking little space to store it. It constructed with solid craftsmanship and they package it well to protect it during shipping. I was very impressed with that as well. The instructions manual would be way better if it were in color, but if you watch the DVD with the lady, she starts out with all the attachments on it, showing exactly how and where they go and exercises you can do, a little imagination you can figure out more exercises. You have to get a feel for what level to set it at. The video with the trainer and two people show how to safely mount and dismount so I suggest watching it for that and he shows a whole routine with nothing but the cables. For the money, I don’t see how anyone wouldn’t be happy with it.
