Get what you pay for.

I bought this workbench because I saw good reviews here. The good: The workbench is a great price for the size especially when compared to the cost of some slightly shorter workbenches sold by Craftsman, Husky, etc. Lots of storage space (drawers, cabinet) makes for plenty of places to put all of your tools. The BAD: Fingerprints all over the bench from assembly means this will be a pain to keep even moderately clean looking. Okay... so that's a minor problem, after all, it is a garage and things get dirty. Bigger issue is that there is no way to latch the drawers so anytime you move the bench (it is on wheels) the drawers slide open. Still not worried since you think you will leave it one place? I'm sure it's related to the minor grade in my garage to make sure water flows out, but anytime I did anything on the table top, the drawers would slowly creep open. Very annoying. I promptly returned this to Sams and purchased from another store. I do not recommend this item.

Only one minor flaw

I bought the whole set of Seville garage storage items. I have the wall and rolling cabinets and the pegboard as well. This rolling workbench was masterfully packed and nothing was damaged. The assembly will take a few hour even for those who are handy, but it is not complicated, just time consuming. The quality could be a bit better as the drawer fronts are a bit thin and flimsy. That said, I would still buy this workbench again. The drawers are very deep and the top surface is very robust. The drawers slide smoothly on high quality rails. I shopped for tool chests for a few months and you cannot come close to the size and quality of this one without spending hundreds more. I highly recommend this.

Just what I wanted

Ultra Heavy-Duty 12-Drawer Rolling Workbench was a purchase that met all of my expectations. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. My only suggestion is that the drawer mats should be a lighter color than black so tools with a dark or black finish can be easily spotted.

Great purchase

I'm a girl who asks for compound miter saws for Christmas so I do love my tools. I bought this workbench and two of the two-door, upright cabinets. I put all three of them together in one afternoon. I did have to wait for my husband to set them upright because they are quite heavy. I have now owned them for over a year, and they are as sturdy now as when I purchased them. We have recently built a 40 x 80 shop, and we will be buying several more Seville pieces to equip the work area. Can't say enough good about the entire line!

Excellent Construction

At age 82 it was not a simple job to assemble this workbench but it was worth the effort. It took me 8 hours over several days. The instructions are illustrated and very clear. All the parts lined up and fitted without problem. I made use of clamps that make it simpler to hold things in place while using the screws. Since the bench is build up from the bottom up I needed help to put the finished unit upright. It was just to heavy for me to lift it. All the drawers slide without problem and I particularly like the rubber linings. The unit holds many tools of all kinds. Be careful not to open all the filled drawers at the same time. The unit may very well tilt over. This is a very useful and good looking work bench that can be moved around on its large wheels.

good value

I bought this along with the tall stand up storage cabinet. My wife and I put together the storage cabinet when we got home, and I was impressed by the clarity of the assembly instructions, how clearly each part was marked (stickers with arrows for front, up, etc). They even included a screwdriver that fit every assembly screw. I decided to hold off on assembling the rolling workbench until my 11 year old grandson came to visit. It did take 5 hours for my grandson to put it together, but he read and interpreted the assembly instructions with no help from me. There are a couple of steps where an extra set of hands is helpful, but by FAR, this was the best set of instructions and parts labeling I have ever see. There is even a little bag with one extra of each of the different types of screws and bolts. Resultant product is great and very functional. I've had several visitors comment on it and they couldn'r believe the quality for the price. Good Job!

Excellent price:value ratio

Those giving this a terrible review, obviously didn't look at their bank account after their purchase and realize they had about $1000 more than if they had gone to buy something else comparable from a different company. The metal is as thick as the metal on my american made tool chest that is 20+ years old. I measured with digital calipers. It took me a few hours to put this together, but the most time consuming part was the drawer assembly. Each drawer took several minutes, so that was the bulk of the assembly time. Once that was done, it was pretty easy to put together, and well worth the $400 price tag. Complaints: The notches in the drawer sliders to keep the drawers closed, are a bit tight. We'll see how that improves as it's broken in, but for now they are so tight that the drawer fronts are flimsy enough that it feels as if you're going to pull the handle off of the face if you pull any harder. It's like that with almost every drawer slide.

Disappointed in many ways

Normally I don't write product reviews, but on this particular product, I felt compelled to do so. After living with this cabinet for sometime, I feel qualified to point our the features, benefits and drawbacks to this particular product. First, the good stuff. The top is made from a nice thick piece of butcher block wood that is finished off to a smooth finish. The top is nice and sturdy and really at the perfect height as a workbench. The cabinet is portable/movable thanks to the casters. This is great if you desire to roll it away from the wall to sweep behind it or relocate to a different area of your shop. Now for the bad. As others have said, the assembly is quite tedious. EVERYTHING has to be assembled - including the drawers which ship as flat steel pieces. Because they are assembled out of flat steel and not rolled, dirt and debris can accumulate in the cracks where they are assembled. I was really disappointed that the drawers use this type of design. On the topic of the drawers, most are small and are not really made for tool storage. Deep well sockets (stored on end - not flat) or taller tools will not fit in any of the drawers on the right hand side. If you desire to store tools in these drawers, plan on wrenches, screwdrivers or other low-profile items fitting in the drawers on the right. The left hand drawers are deeper and will accommodate larger items, BUT each drawer has a 40lb weight limit! The center storage section is designed awkwardly and not really usable. The shelf is small-ish and not much can fit on it. The roller slides are fragile, and as said by other reviewers, great care must be exercised when installing the drawers - the slides will bend easily rendering them worthless. Probably the most frustrating thing about the cabinet is that the drawers will simply not stay closed. On my unit, when I grab an item from a right hand drawer and shut it with normal force, the drawers on the left will open by themselves. The opposite also happens when using the drawers on the left. For reference, The unit is on level ground and the drawers are not overloaded with weight. I have been in contact with the manufacturer repeatedly, and they have sent various parts to help solve the problem but nothing seems to work. Also as a side note, the stainless finish is horrible for fingerprints. I'd much rather have a less-trendy powercoated finish that wipes clean with a shop rag. All in all, this cabinet is a big disappointment for use in a shop or garage. Personally, I think it's best suited for use in an office, craft room or storage area. Also, I feel it is quite overpriced considering it's design and quality. The drawers are made from thin steel and just feel cheap. I had really high hopes for this unit. I bought it primarily to serve as my tool storage unit and workbench for my rental unit. It's portability attracted me for I can move it to my next rental house when the time comes, but at this point I considering off'ing it and buying a proper tool box. I just wished I hadn't gone through this whole exercise and done that in the first place.

Amazing Rolling Workbench: I Have Assembled 3

I bought one for my home when I lived in Ohio. I also bought one in Florida for my place there and helped a friend put his together. I am very happy with this tool box. I saw some other reviews about this not complimentary. I don't understand that. This thing is like a tank and I have moved my Florida model 5 times. Key to success, repeat key to success, READ THE DIRECTIONS. And also be patient. I have had no issues assembling this box and it has been super. I added a vice on one end of mine which bolted to this maple hardtop works really well. If you don't have mechanical skills get someone who does. I would estimate it took me about 2 hours for the first one, 1 1/2 for the second one and 1 for the 3rd one but had a friend helping.
