Customer reviews for Seville Classics® UltraHD® 12-Drawer Rolling Workbench, 77" W x 20" D x 37.5" H forOutstanding Product
After months of reading reviews and inspecting it a few times in store I finally decided to splurge on this work bench / tool box . All the reviews are spot on. This is one sturdy, well thought out piece of equipment. From the hardwood top, deep drawers (with insert pads), bumpers, locking wheels, side rails, side metal peg boards, lock, and a weight capacity of 300lbs..I don't think it's possible to do bettter than this for a home work bench /tool box. Even the intructions are clear, with everything numbered and labeled, along with some general tips. And if you need a long, magnetized screwdriver it comes with one! The only con is it takes hours to put together but if you can get and extra screwdriver and someone to help put the drawers together you could cut it down to a couple of hours.
Good Bench if not for Major Design Flaw
This bench has lots of storage and is fairly well built but a major problem in the drawer design makes it very difficult to operate. The drawer slides have plastic bumpers in the rear that are supposed to serve as a friction lock to prevent unwanted opening of the drawers. This is a safety feature so that too many drawers don't open accidentally such as when moving the bench and tip it over. The problem is that the bumpers are made to hold way too tight and they actually prevent the drawers from closing easily or opening easily. You need a lot of force to open and close - so much so that the drawer fronts bend. When trying to pull the drawers open such force is required that when they do open suddenly all the contents shift. I have been working with the manufacturer but so far they have been unhelpful except to suggest some grease. I tried grease but it does not fix the problem. So far it appears the manufacturer does not want to rectify the problem.
You'll Be Extremely Happy With This Workbench
I, like many other customers, was somewhat skeptical about the quality, craftsmanship and durability of the Seville HD 12 Drawer Rolling Workbench. Folks, you won't be making any mistakes with this purchase. The SOLID wodden top is very beautiful. The quality of construction is excellent and the durability of materials are outstanding. ALL the screw holes lined up correctly. The assembly directions are straight forward and easy to understand. Seville even supplied the tools for assembly. However, you'll want to be patient; there's many/many screws but at least there are enough of them. I have now converted this "Workbench" into my reloading center for all my ammunition reloading projects. It has plenty of storage space, the drawer guides are all top-notch and the locking feature on the middle door is an excellent place for my storing of gun powder. If you want a GREAT cabinet/storage/work area, this is it. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.
Only one minor flaw
I bought the whole set of Seville garage storage items. I have the wall and rolling cabinets and the pegboard as well. This rolling workbench was masterfully packed and nothing was damaged. The assembly will take a few hour even for those who are handy, but it is not complicated, just time consuming. The quality could be a bit better as the drawer fronts are a bit thin and flimsy. That said, I would still buy this workbench again. The drawers are very deep and the top surface is very robust. The drawers slide smoothly on high quality rails. I shopped for tool chests for a few months and you cannot come close to the size and quality of this one without spending hundreds more. I highly recommend this.
Amazing Rolling Workbench: I Have Assembled 3
I bought one for my home when I lived in Ohio. I also bought one in Florida for my place there and helped a friend put his together. I am very happy with this tool box. I saw some other reviews about this not complimentary. I don't understand that. This thing is like a tank and I have moved my Florida model 5 times. Key to success, repeat key to success, READ THE DIRECTIONS. And also be patient. I have had no issues assembling this box and it has been super. I added a vice on one end of mine which bolted to this maple hardtop works really well. If you don't have mechanical skills get someone who does. I would estimate it took me about 2 hours for the first one, 1 1/2 for the second one and 1 for the 3rd one but had a friend helping.
Good Quality Box
Looking to upgrade from my old toolboxes that were falling apart, I did some research on the internet. The wood top rolling toolbox from Sam's caught my eye. It's very bright and warm. It's not cold and dark like most common roll around toolboxes. I liked the overall look of the box. The stainless steel front and the powder coated gray body I’m sure will resist scratches and dings and will last for many years to come. Both side have the pegboard holes which was a surprise because the description did not say anything about it. Anyway, having not ever used a peg board before, I found myself buying several peg board attachments and finding it very useful. The "chopping board" top is solid and smooth. I was worried about the ball bearing drawers rolling open as the cabinet is moved but to my surprise they sort of "lock in" when the drawers are fully closed. They are a little stiff to open when new, takes a little bit more effort but I am sure they will loosen a little over time. I like the hard rubber casters and these things really roll. You have to be careful on the slightest incline or your box will run away from you if you don't have the wheels locked. The drawer space is plentiful. Each drawer comes with its own padding which is a plus. They keep your tools from rolling around and scratching the bottom of the drawers when opened and shut. The center of the box has a hinged door and inside is one shelf which is adjustable. The only drawback is that. One shelf. I wish the manufacturer had included two or three shelves (hint, hint) or at least have the option of ordering a couple more shelves. They really put some thought into packaging this product. Be sure to bring at least two other people to help load the boxes. There are two of them and they are very heavy. Be prepared to spend some time assembling. The instructions are very thorough but still took me a good day to assemble this box. Be sure that have plenty of space to lay out all your parts. I am so glad each part was marked with their own unique letter for the instructions. This box is not just for a garage, shop or shed. It is nice enough to be used inside your house. The stainless steel box would match a stainless steel refrigerator or stove. Overall I am very pleased with this box and I find it reasonable priced. Liked it so much that I bought the smaller rolling toolbox to go with it.
Awesome
I looked at this workbench, read all the reviews and thought long and hard on this purchase. I sold my Gladiator setup to purchase this and love this even more! The quality is just as good as all the rest of the garage systems I have seen out there. I believe the negative reviews are people not knowing there is really no difference between this and comparable systems at a better cost. If you put a gladiator system together you would find they are just as thin metal and about the same build. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with what I had but this system fits my needs. Directions and packaging are top shelf. I put the cabinet together in a little under an hour, the drawers are what take some time. Just take your time, read the directions and you will love this!! I can see where this workbench could sell for $800 + if assembled, rather have the extra money in my pocket!
Great Value For The Money!
It has been said here many times before, but I was also skeptical about the quality of the Seville rolling workbench at such a reasonable price. I was also concerned about having something so heavy shipped to my house as I was sure it would get damaged in transit. Well, I was wrong on both. I just finished assembling the unit and I have to say this is a quality product for the price. It is very well constructed and built to last. From start to finish, the complete assembly from unpack to wipe down will take every bit of 5 hours to complete if done by yourself. It is packaged very well and takes about an hour to unpack and lay out for assembly as each piece is individually wrapped. The assembly instructions are straight forward and easy to understand, but don’t be in a rush as there is much tedious work to be done here. If you take your time and don’t get frustrated, the bench will turn out great. All the screw holes line up fine and don’t be too quick to get out your cordless drill to set all the screws as you take a chance of stripping the nutcerts or the screw heads. Seville does supply a screwdriver and wrench for assembly, but a good magnetic tip screwdriver and a socket set works best. Also, remember not to over tighten any of the hardware. Be gentle on the bolts that fasten the work-top to the frame as you can strip out the threaded inserts if not careful. Also, do not over tighten the small screws that hold the frame or shelves together. Remember to loosely assemble all the parts, including the drawers, then tighten down once lined up. The amount of screws looks overwhelming and you will never think you will get all 8 small drawers built as they take 13 screws each, but you will and when done you will have about 30 screws left over. Again, this is a good product and exceed my expectations, but just don’t rush the assembly and it will turn out great.
Get what you pay for.
I bought this workbench because I saw good reviews here. The good: The workbench is a great price for the size especially when compared to the cost of some slightly shorter workbenches sold by Craftsman, Husky, etc. Lots of storage space (drawers, cabinet) makes for plenty of places to put all of your tools. The BAD: Fingerprints all over the bench from assembly means this will be a pain to keep even moderately clean looking. Okay... so that's a minor problem, after all, it is a garage and things get dirty. Bigger issue is that there is no way to latch the drawers so anytime you move the bench (it is on wheels) the drawers slide open. Still not worried since you think you will leave it one place? I'm sure it's related to the minor grade in my garage to make sure water flows out, but anytime I did anything on the table top, the drawers would slowly creep open. Very annoying. I promptly returned this to Sams and purchased from another store. I do not recommend this item.
Great purchase
I'm a girl who asks for compound miter saws for Christmas so I do love my tools. I bought this workbench and two of the two-door, upright cabinets. I put all three of them together in one afternoon. I did have to wait for my husband to set them upright because they are quite heavy. I have now owned them for over a year, and they are as sturdy now as when I purchased them. We have recently built a 40 x 80 shop, and we will be buying several more Seville pieces to equip the work area. Can't say enough good about the entire line!
