Durability and Performance

A couple of weeks ago i was stopped, checked a couple of times to see if it was clear to go ready to pull out across traffic when someone came flying out of nowhere. As soon as I saw him I hit the brakes, and he hit his. Luckily I stopped within inches of his car, I can only say how lucky I was to have such great tires on my car along with good brakes. Such a nice smooth ride, love my Defenders.

Defender on Volvos

Installed the defender on our XC70 ‘04 & XC90 ‘08. So far no complaints. Balanced nicely. Good ride. Ran in heavy rain in the XC90 and liked the performance, by the way XC90 size 255/50 19 so on the wider size. I will not be running them in winter as have separate snows.

Canadian Made & Better Milage

I chose the tires because they are Canadian made. I've only put about 10,000 km on them but I have noticed that my gas milage is better. I have a RAV4 Hybrid which in summer I was getting 5.4 l/100 km for the past 3 years. I am now getting 5.2 to 5.3 l/km. Not a big saving but I will take it. In old terms that is an improvement of 1 to 2 miles per Imperial gallon. I also feel safer with the new tires as Michelin is known for their high quality.

Michelin delivers again

We purchased the Michelin Defender 2 tires for our SUV in the spring of 2025 and they have exceeded our expectations. They are fantastic in all conditions (except snow, havent had that to try yet) and they handle great. Not only that, but they are quiet and provide a comfortable ride. I am looking forward to using these tires happily for many years to come. Oh, the braking performance is very solid as well. We purchased 235/60/18 for our 2020 Honda Ridgeline.

Quiet but lacks performance

Very quiet tire but very poor grip and a weak sidewall. These are probably great for high milage fleet vehicles or rentals but not for any vehicle one might drive spiritedly. Do not drive these hard in the rain, you may die. I replaced a set of Yokohama's with these and to be honest, I got better performance from the worn out Yok's. Now I know these are not a performance grade tire by any means, but I did expect a little better from Michelin.

235 65 R18 106h Mitchelin Defender 2

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Vehicle: 2020 Toyota Highlander xle Hybrid Tire size: 230 65 R18 I saw some reviews on reddit saying these Mitchelin Defender 2 were a great choice, and with further research, I decided to get them on the wife's highlander. The wife mentioned that the noise level was much quieter, more comfortable, and felt lighter compared to her previous tire, the GoodYear Reliant that walmart offers. I'd say the Reliant tires lasted around 2 years with highway driving most of its life. We've only had these Defender 2 for about a week, so only time can tell how long these Defenders will last. The wife is happy she likes the tires. We are located in central California, and using them all 4 seasons, the Defender 2 tire is rated for 106h and the highlander is rated for 106v which is determining how fast and heavy the vehicle can handle but we never exceed those ratings its a good dad to day use for highways and all season.

Pleased with my purchase

I bought a set of 4 to replace nearly 6 year old tires that were constantly losing air. I've using them for 3 months. At first they seemed overly responsive to the steering wheel, but I have adapted well to this, I think. I also drive an old Nissan pickup and the contrast is marked. The review I read in a national consumer journal was correct.

Road noise and cold tire violating

The Defender LTX M/S 2 is a good tire, not a great tire. They are a noisy tire. They are not much less quiet than a AT tire. This new design is not as quiet as the lower design. When cold they vibrate alot. I'm not very impressed with them. I think Michelin needs the rethink the design for road noise.

Excellent smooth running, great steering and handling but susceptible to pavement ripple noise.

Great tire, absolutely 0 smooth-road noise, but I notice a reactionary thump over a certain type of road ripple, most likely due to the fact that the suspension was tuned for the Yokohamas that my van was designed with. I chose Michelin for their legendary safety record and I also lucked in to a tire with a long tread life. The original Avid tires had worn to a concerning tread depth at only 56 000 KM.
