Not even a good vacuum for non-animal homes

The main reason I purchased this was because I have animals. It doesn't even clean well in non-animal areas. It leaves a trail of dirt to the side. I thought about taking a photo, but then I'd have to drag out my *non-Dyson* vacuum to vacuum up the left over dirt. The Dyson is lightweight and easy to maneuver, but not when it leaves a trail of dirt and I have to get another vacuum to clean up after this one.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We love to hear and learn from our customers. We seem to have missed the mark with our Dyson Cyclone V10â„¢ vacuum in your home. The V10 models offer three powerful modes of suction power to tackle any size mess in your home. If dirt is coming back out of the cleanerhead, that is generally going to be due to a blockage. We'd be very happy to help troubleshoot any issues you're having. Feel free to contact us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We'll be happy to help! Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

Worse Dyson Ever

I bought this to replace my Dyson DC-44 it finally died after 20 years or so (OMG, I loved that vacuum) especially now that I've tried this one, what a piece of crap!! The trash receptacle falls off every time I try to empty it, and it still doesn't open where the trash is supposed to come out. It also just shuts off every time I try to vacuum a rug. What did Dyson sell Sam's club a bunch of broken vacuums??? I don't know what to do I guess I wasted $400!!

Hi, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your clear dust bin should not be coming off of your V8â„¢ Motorhead, each time you try to empty it. We would be more than happy to assist with some diagnostic troubleshooting with you, to help make sure you're getting the best performance from your machine. Low clearance pushes debris instead of suctioning

My old Dyson DC16 recently died and I was frantic to find a similar replacement. I was just looking for a cordless handheld to quickly vacuum up small areas or spot clean. I saw this V8 cordless Motorhead looked almost identical to my deceased Dyson and an extra perk was that it had a detachable wand so I wouldn't have to bend down/stretch for those hard to reach places. It was $100 off so I ordered it. Straight out of the box, it was heavy. My arm was instantly tired after trying to use it above my head. Multiple issues: The air powerful air coming out of the exhaust vents blows debris everywhere. My small contained mess was now scattered everywhere! The direct driver power head has a plastic guide on the front. This makes it impossible to suck up anything that is larger than that clearance space. I have a parrot that drops sunflower seed shells and Cheerio cereal on the floor and this Dyson just pushes them in front of the vacuum. No room for them to be picked up because of that guide. Strike 3 for me was emptying the dust container. You have to pull hard upward to lift the head off the vacuum which then triggers the dust container bottom to swing open. This did not work easily or smoothly at all. Basically, I had to use two hands to both pry the top part up while pulling the bottom flap down to empty. If it were just one small flaw, I'd get over it but this isn't an inexpensive vacuum! I am beyond disappointed and now I have to drag it back to the Club for a refund.

Hello TMC, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear you found the V8 Motorhead heavy to use. The operational weight of this machine is 5.6 pounds, which does include the weight of the wand and floor tool. You may, however, find these to be top heavy as the bulk of the machine is held in the hand during use. With regard to pick-up performance, if you are finding something more difficult to pick up while cleaning, your machine does offer two suction modes - regular and MAX - to tackle any size mess in your home. While we understand you're intending to return your machine for a refund, if you have any other questions/concerns, please get in touch with us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com.

Best wishes,
Kelly
Dyson Customer Support

Excellent Product

I received my Dyson as a gift and it was the best gift ever! I Love it! It is light, easy to use and the suction is excellent. I have two big dogs and my floors haven't been so clean! It's so easy and convenient to use, my teenage son's have been grabbing it and cleaning up. I would highly recommend this product.

Maybe okay for small pets or a cat perhaps

These just simply aren't up to the task with larger dogs that have a lot of hair. Gets clogged easily and often, and at the end of the day I spend as much time taking it apart to get the clogs out as I do actually vacuuming. Boost setting requires everything be in practically new condition, and that excludes it having been in contact with any form dust. Looks cool and all, says Animal on it, but there a lot of more robust products at much lower prices out there (I have one, although it isn't cordless which is always more expensive). Not worth the price tag either way. Also the universal ball joint on the main vacuum head gets stuck in weird positions, and the pieces don't really go together smoothly. I don't really get why these are coveted machines.

Works well even in large spaces

I've had this vacuum for 2 years so this review is from long term use. Overall, this vacuum is amazing. It does everything you say it does. No problems with suction or performance. My one per peeve is the dust bin was not designed to handle long thick dark hair. I always have to reach deep into the bin to pull out long hairs. It seems that Dyson forgot to look at how to deal with hair that is long, dark, and thick. If you live with folks with long hair that is as strong as superman's.

Great Customer Service Support, Good Product

I've had two issues, including one off-warranty, and I will say Dyson stands behind this vacuum. They respond right away and I've never been more satisfied with the level of service Dyson provides. It is a good product. In hindsight I wish I had a larger dustbin now that I have a Yellow Labrador ;-). Care is required not to empty the bin "too hard" so as not to break off a small, plastic retaining pin.
