Moving from the city to the rural areas of Florida, you start to want to reminisce special things from childhood when the holidays roll around. One, like myself, tries to be there with my 'big' Italian Family and eat the goodies we had. I always try my best to travel, but sadly it doesn't always work out. These pasty cookies are just that, a substitute but not the greatest. They offer you the nostalgia of the past but not the full experience. Wishing an Italian Bakery was closer and have the real thing. When you cannot, this might help fill that hunger of the past. The flavors are ok, a bit bland. However the smell does bring back memories of the smells of my grandpa making homemade fresh cookies and pastries. *of note, NO I do not have his recipes and nobody in family says they have them. :-(

These are not overly sweet and enjoyed with a cup of coffee. My advise to the many 1 star reviewers who complain that they are dry, tasteless, not gooey enough, etc is this...if you want American style cookies, don't but cookies imported from Italy! Some of us enjoy the simpler tastes in food.
