Good mechanically. Scan Quality not so much.

I bought this scanner because I thought it would save time. It doesn't really. I would buy a quality flatbed scanner that also does 35mm and medium format negatives if I could do it over. The machine feeds and scans reliably and the automatic image enhancement works well. However, you need to use the 1200dpi setting to reduce the amount of noise in the image. Even then, there is a lot of noise in the scan making a poor enlargement of a cropped image. A 3x5 inch JEG is 25MB so another photo processing program is needed to compress it to a reasonable size of 1 or 2MB. I use a freeware utility for this so Epson could have cheaply included this in their software. Even though this machine can feed photos very quickly, it can take a long-ish time for the software to process and save the results; about 15 minutes for a roll of 36 35mm photos on my 11 year old Centrino Duo laptop. A fast PC would probably perform much better. Not a big deal for me but Epson doesn't mention this additional processing time in their advertising. I was expecting the scanner to do this processing on the fly at this price point. Additional time is required for any post processing if you do the JPEG compression.

Absolutely Love this!!

I have been using this now for over a month and can’t believe how easy it is to use! It works on all size photos. It really does a wonderful job. There are a couple of things I haven’t figured out but hopefully will. I may need to read up on it more. The biggest issue for me has been when I have to use the “protector” sheet, not sure of the real name on photos that maybe damaged. They show up very small on the screen? Not sure why? The other issue for someone could be that you can only use this on your iPad or phone, as it requires an app. So not on your laptop. Overall, I would definitely recommend this.

The scanner is a powerhouse.

I've had this less than a month, and have scanned in over 10,000 photos. A lot of the photos are old and faded. There are settings that upgrade the resolution and correct red eye. I chose the mid-level 600 dpi feature; the photos looked new. Organizing was very easy. I could lable groups; some of the groups were over 500 photos. The scanning went very fast based on the volume of photos I scanned. The scanner was well worth the money. I've raved about the Epon FastFoto to friends and family.

Awesome Speed!

I bought this Epson FastFoto scanner to scan my 40 plus years of personal photos I have had stored in bins for all these years. It is an amazing scanner! It packs great speed for such a small unit. Easy to use and does a great job. I am very satisfied!

EXCELLENT BUT..

We are very happy with the scanner, The quality of the images is excellent and it does a great job of handing the photos in the feeder regardless of size. The quiet and very fast scans are great. We scanned 3500 photos and there were no problems other than user error. The software is not great, at best it gets a grade C for design and usability. The only 'F' grade is Epson lowered the price $100 right after we received ours.

Great scanner to convert family photos

Very pleased with the quality of the scans and the automatic photo enhancements. Fast and easy to use. We are using it to digitize old family photos. Also used it to scan a lengthy report - loved the setting that removed the paper punch holes. Well worth the extra cost.

Love It!!!

Love this scanner!!! Very fast, and does a great Job of storing the pics. I also like how it also does the back side at the same time. For the most part I can rotate the pics that are up side down or sideways, but there are some that I cannot. It will rotate them and a second later they will go back to where they were. For the most part I would highly recommend this scanner. I have scanned in over 6000 so far and still have more to go. It takes longer to sort through the ones I want to scan and organize them first than it takes to scan them in.

It's fast

The scanner is fast. Great for dealing with large numbers of photos. The auto software photo enhancements works great. Highly recommend if you have a few thousand or many thousands of photos to deal with.
