I bought this scanner becasue I had an enormous number of old photos to scan and individual scans would have been inpossible. It does deliver high quality, but not excellent scans. I have not yet used it for documents. The feeder is excellent. Having said that, it was extemely difficult to set it up for wireless operation. The instructions were dated with older names of the apps that were needed. The instructions were inadequate. Once I used the direct connect to my laptop, the wirelss set-up went flawlessly. Epson should have explained this. The addition of more photo editing options would be a big enhancemnt as well as more choices for the file archetecture. Overall, a very good scanner although a bit on the priey side.

So far I am not impressed. The directions for setup up were far from great. One page that left a lot of information or critical steps out. Once set up, it was easy to use but then getting back into the program is confusing. You have to reinstall it every time.

I have not yet used the Scanner. I have been trying to set it up for 2 days. The website identified for getting started did not work. I had to search the internet and youtube to figure out how to set it up. I sure hope the instructions for using the scanner are better.

If you are looking for a way to quickly scan pictures then the FF-680W is the absolute best on the market. I've owned other scanners and have tried to make them work with scanning the thousands of prints we have and they all are an absolute waste of time. The 680W can scan one pic per second and offers multiple enhancement options built into the software. It is so fast! Just load the pics (about 50 or so) into the scanner, pick your enhancements you would like to make and then they are scanned in less than a minute. No more postponing scanning the boxes of pictures we have. It is so simple to use and even my kids have been able to help out. Epson has surpassed what I would have expected in a photo scanner. Once the pictures are scanned, you have the option to edit them as you need. You can choose color restoration, red-eye reduction and capture notes on the back of pics on the scan in. Small footprint scanner fits easily on my desk. Also handles most paper sizes for great quality scanning. I had high hopes for this scanner and the results are mixed. This scanner definitely has a purpose and that is blazing fast scans. Unfortunately you have to sacrifice a lot of quality for the speed. For me it was to much quality degradation for me to accept. I returned it shortly after purchase. If you simply want to preserve a copy of pictures and reproduction quality isn’t at the top of your list this scanner will burn through boxes of pictures in no time at all. If you want a quality scan without disappointingly obvious poor scan quality this scanner is not for you. I really wish Epson would develop a scanner with the ease of use of this scanner with the quality of a flatbed. The ability to load a stack of photos and come back in an hour (at a flatbed scan rate) and have high quality scans vs constantly loading photo after photo would be a game changer for those of us who demand quality scans.

I must add to the review tile: when it works. It's like the little girl with a curl... when it's good it's outstanding, but when it's bad... can't figure it out. Most likely my inexperience but the instructions don't always tell everything. I've been madly scanning old photos and cards for several months. The last week it wouldn't scan; paper got stuck, anything thicker than paper would jam, proof size photos stay stuck. I was looking for a support info when this popped up. Great timing, and timing IS everything. Hoping the reinstallation of drivers etc will help resolve my few issues. Other than that, I've been able to speed scan a few hundred old photos for my family genealogy project and decrease the photo footprint in my home.

I purchased to scan in large numbers of photos to reduce clutter. The time saving alone versus a flatbed scanner was worth the purchase. I love the dual scan for photo backs and documents. The software for photo's and documents is excellent as compared to my previous software from other vendors.

I purchased this scanner in hopes of being able to scan a large number of pictures to covert them digitally. I was not disappointed as the process was fast and the quality was very good. I highly recommend this scanner as it is very easy to use and excellent quality.
